WLS Update 6/1/03.......THE RED TRAIN RETURNS!
Daniel replied to Jaggie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If you're talking about the brakes on the backcurve, yes they're still there and they're there for a reason. Without them, the train picks up too much speed around the backcurve and hits the track at a speed that's basically unsafe. -
If you'd have read more accurately you'd have discovered that I know it won't be a long term threat. I'm only talking about on the short term- The first 3 months, including the Easter Holidays you nuffy. I've lost count the number of times I've said 'NOVELTY'. What are the respective demographics being targeted? How can they be so different? Surely they're not. Luna Park will be more suitable for younger guests (up to we'll say 10), but still want the 16-39 demographic. They're the ones who are going to be spending the money aren't they? Luna Park is definitely more suitable for younger families than Wonderland. As for Blow Jobes comment, be careful old son. You don't know how much fire Wonderbus has in their belly. I strongly disagree with your uninformed remark. It could come back to bite you on the clacker soon enough. A friendly word of warning though. He's right you have no idea who any of us are.

WLS Update 6/1/03.......THE RED TRAIN RETURNS!

Surely, as was the case with Grab for Cash (I think that was its name, the old memory is dying on me) in April, the train will not run or divert (where to I don't know) during this time. I'm tipping they'll have the brains for it to just be parked for 20 mins or however long this thing will take. When Grab For Cash was on we just had to do loops around the tree in the middle of the path before Bounty's down to the normal stop outside Bush Beast. As for the yellow train, the answer is no. She didn't. Why have 2 people if there is not 2 trains that day? As far as I know 2 trains haven't been out together but on numerous days it has had an unloader. Money would be better spent putting a 3rd person at Probe or Snowy if it's not already the case. Thoughts Bus? -
Yeah mate I understand that, everyone enjoys some inside information, but it wasn't. I'm not trying to be disrespectful towards you but all I said was no member of TT so far has given their opinion on the fire. Any opinions expressed have been quoted. We do love your opinions, keep them coming but you didn't give an opinion. That's all I'm saying. Please keep your thoughts here. I'm sure I speak for every member and especially Richard, your input is valued. Chill out re: the typo mate 8) Sheesh someone put the air conditioning on. Everyone is so touchy.

Nobody on this forum has suggested what the possible cause might be Rabies Disney. None of us. Only comments in regards to a cause have been quoted. I'm sure the investigators are working their little Richard off trying to work out the cause. Like I said only time will tell. I see what you're getting at, don't speculate, but who has? The Qld police have, that's who!

Day Screwdriver, They'll get a new ride before Beastie reopens, cause that won't be ever! You say improve, but I hear on the red train (I think red train, maybe yellow, but one of the bloody things) the reason they need the unloader on one train operation at Bush Beast (which is ridiculous, you don't need 2 people for one train- cycles might be dispatched 2 seconds quicker), is because the lapbars aren't all locking properly, and the operator needs to depress the lock button again when the unloader gets to one that isn't locked.... Scary huh? Wonderbus and others, what are your thoughts? -
Shifty McShift, Did you read any of the previous posts? It's currently being investigated. They don't know, however, they've suggested a possible cause is arson. Only time will tell my good man. 5:45?? Would these rides have not been powered down at this stage of the day? Surely yes... You're saying that the function wasn't using any rides, so wouldn't they have been powered down by 5:45?
-
Stop bragging Eddie McGuire, we know it's you ok! 8)
-
You're only really gonna smack yourself on the boof with a camera on that ride, and it would be deserved. Good to see we're learning about the importance of safety now guys
-
Much safer for all concerned too
-
How did they manage to get access to the park then? Surely if it was a private function in a room of some sort access to the park was blocked... Can you please elaborate on your not granted access post?

I bet the pathway will just undergo some repairs if the parade is going to use it. Take some of the bumps and crap out. It's rough as buggery in it's present form, passengers on the train cop it if the driver's pis*ed off and goin top speed down the hill I bet that's all it is. Maybe just doing something around the Action Arena for the Marvel thing. Nothing to get your knickers in a knot over I bet. -
Ofcourse it is, it's just being reported that it's possibly suspicious. Hence 'arson' being in the headline... Did you read it?

Sh*tter.... Movie World arson riddle By Paul Weston December 7, 2003 MYSTERY surrounds a blaze which caused up to $1 million damage to one of Movie World's most popular rides. Firefighters initially thought the blaze, which erupted at the Wild West Ride almost an hour after the Gold Coast theme park closed on Friday, may have been caused by electrical equipment. But scientific police and arson squad detectives arrived from Brisbane yesterday to investigate the scene with firefighters, who are yet to complete their report. A police spokesman said: "It's possibly suspicious." Warner Bros Movie World chief executive John Menzies, who inspected the ride, was surprised by the news. "It's a little bit of a mystery at this stage," Mr Menzies said. The fire began about 5.45pm at an inside turntable part of the ride known as "the explosion room". Theme park visitors ride in small carriages on tracks to the top of a replica mining shaft, complete with boxes of fake dynamite, where they are confronted by smoke from a machine and a voice booming: "Quickly, get out of here. It's about to blow." About 15 minutes after the fire started, sensors alerted the Helensvale fire station. The first of six units and 23 firefighters arrived within five minutes. The fire at the top of the 40m-high concrete mountain took 80 minutes to control, with firefighters in breathing equipment using a unit with a 60m staircase. Mr Menzies said he was working on plans to have the $14 million ride, which opened in 1998, operating again in three weeks. (Taken from http://www.news.com.au. A The Sunday Mail (Qld) story)

Blow Jobe, I'm tellin ya now The Beastie has had it and beyond being reused. If it was pulled apart, it wouldn't go back together. A bit like Humpty actually. The state of Beastie has been discussed in various Wally World posts.

Yeah was probably me if it was someone burnin' some rubber in the carpark  I'd love to come back in but it may cause another **security alert** like last time I was spotted walking down to security post. You know all about that. Warning Warning target approaching You know how dangerous I am :? Lucky the C4 strapped around my chest wasn't spotted. Could have been in some real trouble then. Re: the bum biting... well you know who you can go to at Wonderland for that advice. Some of them are real good at that. Professionals you might say. I didn't expect anything more lame than that joke coming from you. -
My good buddies inform me that Tony's last show will be the 26th or thereabouts. Someone give me a free ticket will ya's???? Bunch of tight as*ses.

Thanks for answering my question Busmeister. So is the stage near the remote cars? Where they were flogging off all their excess stuffed toys yonks back? To the right...??? Near Batty, Lakeside or what?
