The point about including Wildlife Park numbers is very valid. Very interesting. Would they do that? Rich, I only asked was it possible to fix the attendance numbers? I never said they have. Maybe it wasn't worded as well as it should have been. All I said was I find those numbers very hard to believe. You're saying 'single person'. That's not true either. I'm telling you right here and now that you are wrong about no current employees posting. Is it possible they would say this because of fear of reprisal? Absobloodylutely. You seem to think I hate the place. That's not true. I hate things they do and have done but I don't hate it, maybe 1 or 2 particular people, then again even hate is a strong word. I am only telling you how it is on this forum that I find park numbers hard to believe. Some of the people contributing to this forum know first hand and they're just giving their side, just like you are.
-
You may get a shock mate. As far as I know, I'm the only ex-employee slagging the joint off. My observation of park numbers isn't influenced by anything I can tell you. You can't say they're ex-employees, you don't know that. Why shouldn't they work there? Don't tell me for a second you've been happy at every place you've worked. How do you know any of us are who we say we are? I could be anyone for all you know.
-
What the friggin f*ck are they doing? I hear people were being kicked out at 5:00. How can they say no one's coming? Surely they'd give people the chance, if they got there for 5:00, to get in and spend some time in there. See if anyone's gonna show up and reassess numbers at 7:00. That's bloody criminal. You're a bunch of jokers! Get lost!
-
That was the category being referred to, hence me covering both 1 and 1.5 million. Your one million is a big call, that's all. You should spend a week there in some of the winter months. I think jokes are being cracked around here. How the heck do you know it's ex-employees on here? Besides me that is . You may be shocked to the max. What might you be implying there anyway?
-
I find it very hard to believe. I can only recall maybe 2 or 3 days in the last 12 months when Wonderland has closed early. The only reason they close early is because of lack of numbers. How do they know they're not going to get people at 5:00? They couldn't do it at 5:00. They'd have to wait until atleast 6:00 and review park numbers. However, you wouldn't think that Wonderland staff would be so unprofessional as to say something like that unless it was true. If it turns out that the place is closing, I'll find out why for ya's and give you an answer tomorrow. Who was the security guard? If you're going to Wally World on World Cup Final night I think you're a nutter anyway. Someone could just ring them couldn't they? I would but I don't give a crap.

I've gotta agree with the sacking people over the most stupid reasons comment hehe. Mate, Wonderland's weekend attendance is only 3000 a day give or take. They're only going to get 1000 on other days if they have a big school day. We're talking 9 or 10 different school groups. A couple of hundred is absolutely packed during the week. They'd be over the moon to have 200 people in there every day. They'd think it was Christmas! (In other words be excited, just incase you thought I was talking about Christmas attendances). Any employee or recent employee would back that statement 100%. 9000 or 10 000 is the busiest day of the year- Union Day, and no school holiday day or weekend gets even close to this. A good Sunday would be 5000. That would be packed. To get the so called 1.5 million being referred to, Wonderland would have to get an average daily attendance of 4120. Friggin haha! Sure. Even for 1 million it's in excess of 2700 daily over the 364 days. Absolute buckley's! They'd need their Sunday's to be every day just to crack 6 zeros. TTFN. Thanks for coming.

By the way Shifty, are you about 9? You must be to spell like you do. Just from the last 2 posts: Hundredds- Hundreds There- their Then- than Te- the Becasue- because Beggining- beginning Gurantee guarantee Wil- will Fetting- getting Fuure- future Your argument will be much more convincing if ya fix up the spelling. Until then, keep dribbling

Liam's Theme Park Videos - Wonderland Sydney
Daniel replied to Flea's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hey Flea Boy, good on ya for taking the time and money to do those. Worth the 62 hour download time I'm sure people here appreciate the work you put into them. Thanks on behalf of them. Keep up the enthusiasm big fella. -
We seem to be going round in big circles here. Weekends and holiday numbers are definitely down and people are overall dissatisfied with Wally World and their lack of change. You're spot on with your Wildlife Park statement. That's where the mullah comes from. Wally World would not have survived this long without it. Bus loads and bus loads of tourists (namely camera happy ones), attend there everyday, spend hundreds in the shop etc. Unfortunately these people don't go into the Park as well. I don't expect the park to be crowded on a weekday unless there is a school group either, but weekends and holidays, there should be more people than they get. You cannot deny that. If numbers were improving why not load Zodiac from both sides? Enter and exit separate sides from Endeavour? Unloader on all rides? It's not financially viable for them to run 2 or more person op as they used to. Go back a few years, even all HB rides had 2 persons. Gate receipts can't justify them running the same efficiency they used to have to! You would no doubt be shocked to know how much I care about that place, everyone seems to think that people posting here hate it. That's not the case. We're all just pis*ed off with some dubious decisions. I'll leave it at that.
-
Rich, there's been days when numbers haven't made 100 I can assure you. Just an example, Bounty's one day, 9 ppl total for the whole day. This included a second cycle done with the same 3 people on it. Sitting at a ride for 2 hours without seeing anyone does happen quite regularly. At Zodiac, you'd close the doors in winter, put your feet up on the control panel and just about doze off. If you weren't paying attention, and not cycled the ride, the grounded side would have crept up a metre! Not that I ever let that happen The figures may or may not be accurate, who is supplying this IAAPA with its numbers? Is it possible for Wonderland to supply exaggerated numbers? The point is what were their numbers 5 years ago? Not that I give a crap anyway, I'm just telling you how it is. Ask anyone that's spent a significant amount of time there over the last few years, you'll get a similar response.

Wonderland bring it all on themselves. They deserve every bit of sh*t that's thrown at them at the moment and everyone, including themselves, know it! Simple things such as not replying to customers correspondence leaves a nasty impression on everyone's mind. That's just the tip of the iceberg for all these guys. Basically, staff love their job and what they do without all the political crap. They are like a big family some of the longer serving employees. Many are just staying for each other I can assure you. What a fun job though hey? Bloody oath it is! Staff will stick it out for as much as they can take because where else are you going to find a job like that? What a piece of piss! I don't think anyone was 'flaming' anybody. Everyone is just giving their opinions on the issue. I haven't come across any unfriendliness as yet. All these people, including myself, are entitled to their opinion and it's democracy at its best Most here have the same goal- Work together to get Wonderland off their asses. Some are just here because they wanna tell the truth. That will be all the employees. Some of them need somewhere to take out their frustrations, you can't even look sideways at someone above you without getting your ass escorted out the door.
-
9000 coke bottles... "apparently" a million bucks in one. I bet there wasn't. That's something they'd do. haha. Wonderland don't care about Wonderpass holders. They're not getting any income from gate receipts from them are they? For the cost of a visit and a half, you can go back as many times as you want for a year! When they can get the right price for the land, that's when Wally World will go. The comment about brown rings around mouths is partially true. It's more a case of sticking up for yourself around there. I said it before, some have too much say and some not enough. Past and present employees will know exactly what I'm getting at! It pisses me off to be honest that some can be so intimidated.
-
Sure it's packed on a Saturday night, no comparison to the numbers of years ago. Get a few more people on a cheap Saturday night, less on a SaturDAY or SunDAY. Weekend numbers are basically sh*t compared to years back. Holiday numbers are sh*t compared to years back. 90 minute waits were the norm. Union day is the only day the gets even close to the numbers of old. I'm with Flea Boy on this one. How about tourists mate? Why aren't they there during the week? There's days when operators out number patrons. If numbers are better, why does Zodiac load from one side now? Why do you enter and exit from the same side at Endeavour? That's just to start. The numbers aren't enough to justify them operating with 2 person op. The ride efficiency of old isn't required as much these days. Not even in the same ballpark. Are you cracking jokes?
-
Bloody oath B&Mfan. I'll keep my 50 bucks to get on the cans like a mongrel with.
-
Mate, where do I start on this one? The reason the park is going down the shi*ter is not spending money. Have you ever been during the week? I'm tipping no. Some days they are pushing sh*t up hill to get 30 people in there. No lie. Mate, compared to lets say even 3 or 4 years ago, attendance is rubbish. 90 minute waits at rides were not uncommon, now the only real day like that would be union day. I don't know, but how many Wonderpass holders do you think they have compared to a few years back? I'm tipping it's on the decline. I doubt there's been an increase, but if you plan on going even twice in a year, it's worth it. There is no way known to man that you can say attendance is improving on the long term. There's not a hope in hell. Anyone that has been a regular for a few years or any employee will disagree with your statement about attendance improving. I don't think the general population supports them. Sure, there are a few regulars that are there every week, in one case every day, but overall, definately a high level of dissatisfaction. To be quite honest, they're getting fed up. All you've got to do is get staff to record the number of complaints they receive each day. Everybody I speak to whether it would be family, friends or to someone in conversation, rate Wonderland as high as a lobotomy these days.
-
You're spot on Flea Boy. Wonderland couldn't give two sh*ts about the staff and I don't know anyone that's happy there. Go back 6 months, things were starting to change for the better for staff morale. Then came along 'certain additions', which put everything back to square one. Bugger...
-
Shifty, no one's complaining to you mate. I agree 100%, as everyone knows, that Beastie is firewood. I also agree that Wonderland wouldn't have anything big planned in the near future. I've layed down the challenge before Wally World. Prove me wrong will ya? For all these guys sake. Don't let a park with so much potential die. All of us guys grew up with you as part of our culture. Everyone in Sydney has been to Wally World at some stage in their lives. I do believe though that something has to be done. A new attraction, a little bit of marketing and the people will flock back. People are just waiting for something new. Why would the average Joe pay to go to Wonderland more than once a year? You're doing well if you go that often... Get a good sponsor onboard, keep up the maintenance to hang onto your sponsors and you'll be sweet. Let me run that joint I say It's not rocket science really. Common sense... You don't know how many pissed off, whinging people that get there and are just stunned by the state of the place. They take out their anger on the poor old operator who knows nothing about what's happening in the park and reasons for decisions. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard "I payed 50 bucks to get into this sh*thole and this and this is closed" or "what happened to this?", "why isn't that open anymore?" Answers are quite often given on speculation. I think that's bad on Wonderland's part that operators should have to be subject to abuse because of the joint's condition. You're trained to refer someone to guest relations only as a last resort but why be bothered with these people? Send them to someone else to deal with them. Lucky for management they've got some great operators that are customer service focussed and will talk to them. More customer service focussed than they are that's for bloody sure. Not that they care about or appreciate their staff at all. These guys do an awesome job everyday, and it's clear that management don't seem to care. They've got a funny way of showing it anyway...
-
Jaggs, they won't even reply to an addressed written letter. It's just plain bloody rude. It's common etiquette to reply to any correspondence, whether it be electronically or by post, especially a company that is supposedly customer service based (haha). How dare they drill into their staff the importance of exceptional customer service? Double standards just keep popping up all over the bloody place. They're not good at returning phone calls either... The height of rudeness. Bloody nuffy's. It's going to come back to bite ya's on the ass. Swings and roundabouts my good men and women. What goes around comes around.
-
haha. **sits in the corner and laughs to himself** Sounds like when Demon and Bush Beast were down together. Bloody brilliant stuff Wally World. Going great guns. That's disgraceful. I wouldn't pay 50 bucks to get in with all attractions going let alone being 3 down. 14 attractions including the Wally World Express... Are they kidding? To avoid this, all they need to do is keep the maintenance upto the rides as required instead of taking shortcuts and doing work on a reactive basis, not proactive. Don't get me wrong, the maintenance guys are doing all they can with what they've got. That place needs a rocket up its ass. I was nearly going to say how shocked I am, but really, I'm not. Nothing has changed.

Rab, forget em mate, post your life away I say. You seem to be pretty genuine to me. I'm sure most others agree. So stuff em. Whether you are right or you are wrong who gives a toss? Don't get touchy yourself there though. There's nothing wrong with a bit of sh*t being put on each other. It's all part of the fun. So everyone just fire up if you must. I don't agree that Wally World would get the funds to do extra crap if they were going bung. Why go further down the crapper if they're bust? Driving past Wally World a couple of hours ago, I saw the Wally World Cat Burglar had struck, knocking off Zodiac's gondolas.... Wally World insiders, has the zodicrap gone down for annual? How many rides is that down at the moment? Is Snowy back open again yet? How about Taz? I'm sure Taz or Snowy would be back open again before they took Zodiac down... Surely they couldn't possibly be that stupid...??? Then again....
-
If they worked hard enough on a Spiderman show I'm sure with a bit of effort it could be as good as Action Man. Just maybe.... hehe. What a ripper that was.
-
Why would Tony go anywhere with the amount of cash he's getting around that joint? The rumoured amount going around is a mind blowing figure. I was quite stunned. During the week they wouldn't receive this amount from their gate receipts. Things may have changed over the last 5 or 6 months since I was there, but keep an eye out for a Spiderman show starting for the Xmas holidays. Maybe a person currently in the 'know' can elaborate a little. I'm with Bus as you all know, Beastie has gone. She's been retired to the ol' theme park in the sky. She's firewood.
-
Sure, everyone has had their issues with management, heck, if someone has, it's me! Well, atleast big fat boy is gone now 8) (oops did I say that or think that? ) However, overall I think they're doing a pretty good job you know. Well, most of them... I strongly believe some have too much say and some not enough (without mentioning any names. I'm sure people familiar with the park management will know who is being referred to. Staff will that's for sure). Management are part of the furniture there. They aren't going anywhere too quick I don't think. Why would they? I bloody wouldn't... You've hit the nail on the head Rich. Sunway don't give two poops about the theme park. Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to Sunway's website, I think this particular asset of theirs has been valued at $49 million or something. I think it's there in the financial report somewhere. I'm quietly confident it will be gradually turned into something that's going to pay dividends for their shareholders. I hope I'm wrong, crap, I hope I'm wrong but, what can we do? What can Wonderland management do about that? Jack Sh*t. You've got to spend money to make money... Sunway have spent, now they're waiting... It won't be pay day for this asset while it's in its present form. (Sorry but that's just about the best closing statement I could come up with at this late hour. I know it's poop but bad luck, I'm tired! I'm hittin the fart sack).
-
I second what you're saying mx5 re: the constant flow of bulls**t. But then again it's what makes it so fun and interesting hey? I love the discussions and passion shown. I too agree it would be tough to re-zone, but if BCC and NSW Govt are going to pick up an enormous amount of cash out of doing so they will have no hesitation whatsoever I assure you. The taxes alone would probably be more beneficial financially to them than what Wally World can deliver them. As I'm sure you're aware, the land would be worth more than everything in the whole park in the state it's in at present. I'm speculating, please note speculating here, which is fun too, that Sunway bought Wally World for one reason.... land! There's just a plethora of the sh*t round there. Is it something like 250 ha?? It goes right down to Old Wallgrove Rd. Interesting discussion. Keep up the good work with those posts lads. I'm tipping Rich will chime in a jiffy though with us kind of going off track. If we are Rich just chuck us in a different thread. Cheers mate.

More directed towards Nightshifter the comment I made Psycho. He's done plenty of defending. I don't mind people defending ofcourse as it is their opinion, but peeps don't get so wound up about it. I'll be the first to stick up for the place if it's justified. I'll also be the first to crap on em if it's justified also. It works both ways. My good times at that joint easily outweighed the bad. Anyhoos, I'll be at the Wally World Xmas party this year and a bonfire would go great guns. The ol' BB was good fun to operate though I've got to admit, that's about all it's had going for it for the last couple of years atleast... I'm tipping if Wally World isn't a complete industrial estate within 3 years, BB will still be standing. The platform has been layed Wonderland, prove me wrong will ya? Give the crowd something to cheer about. By the way, Jack's a good bloke...
