  1. Yes JacobSibbald that's very true. I have a friend that works as a Cast Member at DL CA & has been with them for years. He has told me that Aussie make up a VERY large number of guests visiting each year. With regards to Disney opening anything here, I doubt anything other than a DVC destination would happen anytime soon. I would LOVE to see a park so I will keep on Believing in the Magic ( as they say ) :-)
  2. Thanks for the great shots you did very well . However, I don't see anything so great about painted plywood flats but, I suppose it's a cheap way to cover the buildings behind it.
  3. I absolutely agree with Alex, Orlando has theme parks that are the best in the world IMHO. I’ve been twice & the last time we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge which was simply amazing. We were there at WDW for 8 days & still didn’t see everything. We took a day just to go to see what each resort looked like, this way we could sample dining & the uniqueness of all the accommodation on offer, something I strongly recommend to anyone going there. Then, as mentioned before is Universal Studios & IOA.. I have to say that IOA was beyond spectacular, it had such a vast selection of both family & thrill rides all beautifully themed. You could easily spend 2 days each in these parks. I’m afraid we are a little behind with regards that type destination here….This may change one day but I'll probably be too old to to do them LOL
  4. It seems that the Pirates Revenge will be the only holiday attraction added to the park these holidays & it opens Boxing Day. I wish they would add a permanent flume ride as they seem to be very popular & a good family attraction would be great for the park's line up.
  5. Guess I must be Alex cuz when I rode it, it was called Terminator & had those cyborg things in the queue line...Still whatever it's now called, it was an awesome coaster & I'd love to see something like that here
  6. I would also like to see a fantastic wooden coaster in any of the parks there. My two favourite ones are Terminator SFMM & Renegade at Valley Fair MN.
  7. Yes Yoshix, the Steel Big Dipper is now at MW & is called the Cyclone, didn't the Demon go to another park in Asia?
  8. Incidentally Yoshix...Walt Disney was a man & not a theme park. The park in Florida was dedicated to him by his brother Roy as Walt passed before it was completed. Originally it was just going to be called Disney World. After his death, Roy decided to call it Walt Disney Word in honour to his younger brother.
  9. Yes thanks Ash. I would've loved to have been there for it as I LOVE Aussie World. I can only guess it will get better each year
  10. Thanks Alex, yes I changed my name as I thought it a little more appropriate due to my collecting habits. I have quite an extensive collection of Disney ornaments from every park I have been & also many dolls & figurines too. I'm not sure why the old one still shows up at the bottom of my posts but, I guess it doesn't really matter...Thanks for the welcome & have a great day
  11. Hi Jobe, Glad to assist. Like you said, both parks had the same layout but the one in LPM seemed to be in a tighter space & the curves were banked a little more than it's Sydney sister. As a result, the one in Vic always seemed to me to be faster & slightly more thrilling. They both had a small lift hill just past the station which sent you around a right hand corner bend for the main drop. The drop itself wasn't that tall compared to coasters today but it was enough to take your breath away...The cars were heavy with high padded sides & no seatbelts just a safety bar that ran along the side of the carriages that the operator would pull & lock all at once. You bounced around quite a bit but it was all part of the fun..... Before it came into the brake run I'd have my coupon ready to ride again. As a Sydney girl I would go to Luna Park every other week. It was an amazing place for me & I remember it fondly. The top of the first drop of the Dipper in Sydney had a slight lean to it which made you jump out of your seat when you went down. I don't know if it was deliberate but...there it was Both also had some great bunny hills & a sudden drop towards the end which made everyone scream with delight. I remember riding the Vic one once & my skirt broke ( very embarrassing at the time LOL ) Thank God for safety pins huh?
  12. Jobe thank you for your post. Your quite correct, I was a huge fan of Luna Park until recent times. It's certainly lacking quite a lot now though IMHO. Alex is obviously passionate & knowledgeable about parks so I was a little taken back by his response which I saw as being rather condescending. I hope we can put this behind us & move on
  13. Alex, I expressed my views on the topic & you have taken it upon yourself to ride rough shot over my opinion & mimic an expression I used. There is absolutely no need for that at all.
  14. Alex I see what you mean but at the end of the day, whether it was their view/belief or not, someone in their management should have double checked to be certain. Then all of this would've been avoided.
  15. If LPS has to tear it down then they have no one to blame but themselves. They should've made sure that all the DA's were signed before commencing construction. In my opinion, this park has been declining steadily for years which is so sad to see given the parks history. As I see it, they have a collection of rapidly aging carnival rides that desperately need replacing if they want to continue operating.
  16. I've been on the following closed coasters Big Dipper ( wooden ) Luna Park Sydney Wild Cat LPS Big Dipper ( steel ) LPS Geronimo LPS The Chipmunk...Fair at The Entrance Big Dipper ( wooden ) Luna Park Melbourne Thunderbolt Dream World Eureka Mine DW The Bush Beat Wonderland Sydney The Beastie WLS The Demon WLS The Corkscrew Sea World Colossus SFMM Flash Back SFMM Psyclone SFMM Grizzly Great America San Jose
  17. How about something like the Techno Jump? I know its not a white knuckle thrill machine but I've been on it several times & it was always fun to ride. I think it would be a great addition to the park & one that most of the family could enjoy. I also think it would fit where the Flying Saucer once was. It would sure give the residents something to byaych about huh?
  18. I have been stuck on the Wild Mouse ( Aussie World ) Pirates of the Caribbean ( Disneyland ) Haunted Mansion ( Disneyland ) Toy Story Parachute Drop ( Hong Kong Disneyland)...Hall of the Presidents ( Disney World )...it broke down through the show. Hmmmm...I'm seeing a pattern here with Disney Parks
  19. Well what ever they do, the really need to do it fast. The park is lacking on so many levels in my opinion. Compared to what it once was, it's in an extremely sorry state :(
  20. Looks like a fun ride, I think I'd do it before I ate though
  21. Actually, the Zipper was at Luna Park pre Ghost Train fire. It was located on the right just after the enterance to the park where the old Tumble Bug ride was once situated. It's a wonderful classic thrill ride that's been around for years & should be ther IMHOActually, the Zipper was at Luna Park pre Ghost Train fire. 22. I find it hard to believe that it could cover everything you'd want to know about coasters in 30 mins but I'll record it anyway
