  1. ^ Looks different to me. Looks to be much better quality, although I would've preferred a handheld to better show the darkride portion. One thing that I've noticed from both POV's is that the splashdown area sounds pretty lifeless. Not sure if the camera's case is blocking the microphone but for me the audio doesn't match the disastrous visuals. Would like to hear sirens, wind, rain etc.
  2. He can, but there's nothing sceptical, questionable or cryptic about what bussy posted. A friend of his posted a picture of a constructed tower that is apparently 10-15m higher than the ferris wheel. Like ranger dude said, hardly classified info...
  3. But that's ultimately the problem isn't it. I have no issue with parks upselling, implementing upcharge attractions, dog tag machines, whatever - but when you are hounded by timeshare people it's annoying. I don't want to be approached by them in a theme park. I don't want to have to purposely avoid particular areas. Shopping centres or other "public" spaces are more semi-acceptable environments. I think this is a prime example of VRTP selling out; sacrificing guest satisfaction for revenue. When you're in an industry of making people happy I don't think it's a wise business decision.
  4. Well said. Couldn't agree more. There's a time and place for them (or is there?) and a theme park definitely isn't it.
  5. Had a look at the new Atura hotel over the weekend. It's directly behind the drive in's, 4-5 minute walk to the park. Quite nice too - the lobby, restaurant and bar is all in one big open space as soon as you walk in but I think it works well. Beautiful funky pool area. I imagine it'll be constantly booked out once the park opens.
  6. ^ Don't want to steer too far off topic but Alex, with the Bush Beast, would you still be able to release the brake if the station was occupied by the 2nd train? Similarly if it were on the lift hill would you be able to dispatch (assuming the lift hill is a block)? Interested to know if blocking would override in manual mode on an older coaster.
  7. I like it but at that height and the nature of the gondola/seats I don't think they can get away with it being a scenic ride. You won't see older people hopping on to check out the view. It's a thrill ride regardless of mode setting IMO. I agree with RWC in that a woodie would be better, but that's probably the enthusiast in me speaking. No doubt this is a hell of a lot more marketable.
  8. Really not sure why you're taking this so hard Jacob. No one was "praising" MikeMac and deliberately ignoring you. It's a forum not a school playground... I like GoGoBoy thought the shipping container with windows cut out was immediately obvious that it was a viewing platform.
  9. While I'm sure this will be well received I really hope Mr Khan has bigger plans for coasters than a Galaxi, something we see every year at the Easter Show.
  10. $125 is still a very fair price for 4 months, even if you only visit twice. Interesting that parking won't be free though. Perhaps a sign of things to come for the Gold Coast parks.
  11. I'm sure this will be a great coaster and I should reserve my judgement until the ride actually opens and is properly landscaped/themed but, I really don't like how it towers over everything. I've always seen Sea World as a beautiful park... granted I've only seen pictures but the tall and towering supports look messy. We now have three coasters side by side - I know there is no other logistical location for The Storm but it's all very squished now. Call me lame but I miss the simple looking white Corkscrew and volcanoes!
  12. I have no doubt the actual readings from the "g-force meter" weren't as high as 4.5. If it was running at 160 it'd get a lot closer to the top of the tower. Pause at 1:02 in the first video that T-Bone posted - that's nowhere near 160 surely!
  13. Did your friend make you upload it here? You have the power to edit your own posts. In this case I've done it for you as I personally don't want something so disrespectful on here. Stop and think next time.
  14. Yeah that'll do guys. As Richard mentioned in the announcement we are starting to delete posts when we feel that threads are starting to/are being driven into the ground by the same old crap. Make your point, sure, but don't create pages and pages of drivel. Let's get back to quality posts and actually make it past page 1 without a Mack joke.
  15. The only reason the photos aren't appearing anymore in this thread is because they were hotlinked from the german site (which have been taken down). Richard or any of the mods didn't remove them.
  16. I think it could've done with a few hills a la The Bro at WWW. Seems pointless to have a racer with an enclosed spiral that finishes as soon as you exit it, defeats the purpose of a racer IMO. It does however look great from the M4, it's a lot closer to the motorway than I imagined.
  17. Drove past this morning, 8 lane racer looks to be complete.
  18. I think a Eurofighter would be compared to Green Lantern by the GP. We as super nerds will know there is a difference between the two, and the Eurofighter will likely be the superior ride, but DW needs to invest in something that breaks the "rules" of a traditional coaster. Djrappa has said it all along - a stand up or flyer would be highly marketable as the domestic market has only ever experienced standard sit down trains. The majority of the population have no idea that stand ups/flyers exist.
  19. I concur with pushbutton, thank you Jacob. If anything Jacob has provided an interesting point of discussion that is much needed in our comparatively quiet industry. If he doesn't want to disclose the full details of what he knows to protect other people, that's fine. He could've kept the information to himself and I'm sure he, along with other members, will do so in the future knowing that half of us will strike them down. I personally think that's a shame and will eventually lead to a community that no one will enjoy being part of.
  20. I'd imagine it'd be this: http://www.visitkingsisland.com/rides/Soak-City-Water-Park/NEW-Action-River http://www.waveloch.com/attraction/action-river Sounds brilliant.
