  1. That is the same temp traveling freak out ride that was at LPS last summer. It's not a permanent addition.
  2. So do we know what the permanent new ride at Luna Melb is? Or is it just another temp carny holiday ride??
  3. What permanent ride has gone into LPM recently apart from a trailer model Power Surge? I imagine most would agree that Hair Raiser is a far superior addition than Power Surge Plus AlexB, I think LPS benefits from having more recent & expansive refurbishments resulting in better facilities than LPM. Granted the state of some of each of the park's rides is quite tragic - I think LPS is in a far better state overall.
  4. Wow good find Julie! I am surprised they have created a publicly accessible website to promote their dubious objections to the world (and the media)! Lets hope the Hairraiser stays. I wonder how long until we find some of these documents in the Daily Telegraph!!!
  5. I would imagine a large developer such as brookfield multiplex would not undertake a development such as hair raiser without adaquate approvals and certification. Planning department have obviously issued a blanket approval previously to cover holiday rides, etc, and now they're reneging on it following wealthy resident complaints. If you have approval to bring rides in & out then why would they double check? theyve been bringing rides in for years!! There is nothing on the Lps website about the ride being closed, so It must still be operating in the interim.
  6. What follows is a mixture of what I have heard from some contacts who know some people at the Park and mu own personal opinion: Rotor: not going anywhere. Looking a little tatty in places but it's seen some paint so it's not too bad. Something to replace the Flying Saucer next year. Don't know what but in my opinion it won't be a Powersurge. Ferris Wheel is not going anywhere. Just had a refurb - all cars removed and refurbed, wheel painted, new lights etc. They have changed to all-white lights to match the face, Crystal Palace. Looks better than the coloured ones that were there before. Tango: surely they must be planning to retire the old girl soon. Spends a lot of time closed and also they don't seem to be doing any cosmetic improvements on it (as other rides have had recently) which suggests it's days are numbered. Hair Raiser is getting a light package. Signage, shading, queue set up all in place and looking very nice indeed. Tumble Bug - still turning but like the Tango appears as though they are nursing it along a bit. Hopefully the rumoured return of the Big Dipper is on the cards… wouldn't it be nice. But no word from my contacts on this so it is sadly just speculation I think. Maze Runner Adventure will be on until 1 November. Apparently very well done. Halloscream (LPS' halloween event) will be on 2 nights this year. Apparently last year there was a big light show on the buildings which was quite spectacular and it is happening again this year, along with various teen celebrity appearances etc (according the email from LPS) - included free with the annual pass if you buy before end of September. They have also changed the Mirror Maze in Coney Island to a scare version with actors which is apparently good also.
  7. I think that spinning coaster looks great. Much better than that one that travels around the country. But can we really expect that LPS are going to have their hand in their pocket for one of these, which by the look of things is about a 6 million plus, less than a year after Hairraiser (which might I add took them 10 years to introduce!) Plus they have the issue of replacing the Flying Saucer. Personally I would like to see the tumble bug go and have a replace for the Flying Saucer and that spinning coaster where the Tumble Bug is but sadly I don't see it happening. If only LPS could see the potential!!!
  8. The Tumble bug space is not all that big- is there a coaster that would fit there!?
  9. It certainly appears to be gone, from the railway line on the bridge. Also Hairraiser looks very dark at night, has it got ANY lights?
  10. Is it going to LPS to replace Flying Saucer?? Or somewhere else? Anyone know?
  11. This is really a defining moment for LPS… 1. Will they follow up Hair Raiser with another quality new attraction? OR 2. Will they just go and put in another park's old 'hand me downs' (i.e. Dreamworld's Reef Diver)? OR 3. Will they leave the space empty and just use it for crap carny rides during the holidays? 12 months ago, I would have said 3 without a doubt. Now, after showing they can introduce quality attractions in the ilk of Hair Raiser, I think we can expect at least 2, and hopefully 1. The quality & execution of Hair Raiser is definitely streets ahead of any of their other rides, so it shows a bit of a change in approach. Let's hope we see another quality addition.
  12. LPS have posted this video of Hair Raiser on their Facebook page... Not sure how they managed to get the footage that close! I am planning on visiting LPS tomorrow to try out Hair Raiser and Freak Out. I am surprised that LPS have not been heavily advertising their new ride. Has anyone seen anything? Has anyone ridden it already?
  13. What's happened here is… after last night's traffic chaos due to the early closure, there would be pressure from the police on WNW to ensure that this does not occur again. This, combined with the closure of various rides today would have resulted in WNW calling capacity earlier than they normally would have. If I'm wrong, then they will call capacity every day from 27 December to 27 Jan. Because, as others have said, even though the Park has just opened, the period before Christmas will be the quiet before the storm. Trust me... I'll be spending my Christmas money checking out the Hair Raiser & holiday rides at LPS and then save my visit for WNW for a February weekday!
  14. Spider has been running much faster since its last annual outage. Cars were refurbed too so it's looking a lot better & has new restraints. Perhaps that has something to do with the speed increase?
  15. Flying Saucer is definitely down. Not in the in-park map any more (trees over the top of where it once was) & certainly not operating. Pls elaborate JulieLovis!!! Should verify the actual physical ride itself (or what you can see anyway) is there, but there is no reference to it on map or website. As Jobe says though it still is on website map though
  16. It was not open when I was there. We need some LPS people on here to give us a little inside information....
  17. OK, so I went by LPS today to check out the new Hair Raiser ride. I took a few pics but just realised I can't upload on the mobile site and my PC is not working….. However... What we have here is looking like a very nice little install indeed. The ride is very compact and one of the park staff informed me that the actual ride itself is testing however there is still construction work going on & the ride is apparently still "a couple of weeks at least" away from opening, so there does not appear to be an opening date yet. I was informed that the ride is indeed a Larson & ARM Drop, and the height at nearly 50 metres I was informed makes it both the tallest and at 80km free fall drop the fastest ride that has ever been at LPS. The "theming" is apparently going to be in line with the old-style feel of the park. The ride is not a traveller - it is definitely a permanent park model ride however it looks like they are building a timber deck around the seats so the ride sits about half a metre off the ground and there is some kind of covered structure around behind the ride that looks like queuing etc. Although it's not finished yet it certainly looks a few cuts above the other LPS rides although walking through it appears they have done some work to a number of other areas since I was there last. The tower itself is in a great spot, as you walk through the entry you can see it standing over the top of the other rides & Ferris Wheel and then as you look down the boardwalk towards Coney Island it is right in the middle, so they've picked a perfect spot for it. I would imagine the view from up there is going to be very spectacular. As soon as I can get my iPhone pics uploaded to a PC I will post the photos.
  18. Apparently HairRaiser is testing. A friend of mine was at LPS for a party last night and said he saw the ride go up and down several times. Said the drop looks intense and very fast. Can't wait to ride it... Still trying to get down there to take a few pics. Anyone else got any further updates?
  19. The LPS Hair Raiser logo on Facebook has spikes like the mimicing the LPS entry face and the lettering is quite different, more attune to the older style art at LPS whereas that one above is more modern looking Anyways it's still a cool name for a ride of this kind! Anyways it's still a cool name for a ride of this kind!
  20. Yes I heard something on Nova today - it is indeed called "Hair Raiser". Cool name. They are holding a competition to be the first to ride http://www.novafm.com.au/competition/be-1st-ride-hair-raiser-luna-park
  21. I just had a quick search online... the Larson towers sound great... I hope it's one of those. See here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1238676
  22. It's hardly classified - I'd imagine you can see it from almost anywhere on the Harbour.
