The Aquasphere is a strange choice for a council owned aquatic centre. I remeber seeing this product on the Whitewater website and not being a fan of it. Like a poor man's tantrum. The addition of lighting & music effects makes it sound more appealing, but so far Wet'n'Wild hasn't shown any interest in adding these effects to their waterslides
-
Thanks for that. So I'm guessing T5 is the Tornado, the Tantrum Alley is the Tantrum (duh!) and the Curler is the Tornado Wave. Anyone know what T5 means? The Aqua Tube is probably the single dark slide on the Whitewater tower (name stolen from the only tube slide at Wonderland!). The Breakers could possibly be the Master Blaster Express slides. We know the Double Bowlseye is the bowling alley. But what about the other 2 raft slides on the same tower? Only name left is Riptide. That could cover one of them, leaving one left over...

Where did you get all of those names for the attractions from?
-
The price a product can be set at all comes down to demand. My take on this is that this park is going to be so in demand, so popular, that they can set relatively higher prices. Anything lower and the park would probably struggle with serious capacity issues.

Complete darkness? Does that mean there are no show scenes or effects inside the shed? -
Wet'n'Wild's social media team might have already given up on the daily attraction reveal so I'm going to take over for them. I can now reveal the 2 names for the upcharge attractions: The Surf Deck & Sydney SkyCoaster (taken from the season pass section of the website). I actually like those names.
-
Yeah learning the names is the only revelation really. Although maybe they should have said it would be a weekly reveal if they weren't willing to commit
-
I see Wet'n'Wild's social media people already got sick of the 'daily attraction reveal'. There has only been one attraction revealed so far and that was about 3 days ago. Mind you, if they're just going to keep posting still frames from the video that we've all seen before, then it's no big loss

Someone made a great comment on the Blacktown Advocate's facebook post: "I don't think it was built FOR Western Sydney in some grand altruistic gesture. There's nowhere else you can put it in Sydney. How it benefits the region is through jobs and tourism". That's so true. People in western Sydney seem to think this is their personal playground, and therefore should be offered at welfare rates. Um, no! It's for all of Sydney. And wider Sydney. And NSW. And the rest of Australia. And overseas tourists. Here is the facebook post if any of you want to lend your support to the park: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151913664332188&set=a.10150178776092188.322871.284664272187&type=1&theater

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

Looks fantastic. Really smooth. Still disappointed about the giant shed. Couldn't they have at least created some themed portals at the track entry and exit points? I hope the interior scenes are themed to a haunted warehouse... 'cause that's the only theme that'd fit -
People are idiots. Can you imagine how PACKED the place would be if they were selling ridiculously cheap season passes? With the amount of young families living in western Sydney, that would be a recipe for never-ending queues.

From the website: 'Wet'n'Wild Sydney is about to take its place as the biggest and best water theme park ever built'

Queensland Government Launches "Theme Park Capital" Campaign
GoGoBoy replied to Bmull19's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think we'll continue to see well-themed rides like Justice League & Scooby from Village but nothing from Dreamworld/Ardent. Not too hard to come to that conclusion -
I think this park might be making a few exaggerated claims. Biggest and best waterpark in the world? I'm not so sure about that. Sure, it looks like it is going to be a great park. There's no denying that. But I'm not quite sure it is the biggest and best. There are some pretty huge and amazing waterparks out there

Expansions start at Jamberoo Action Park
GoGoBoy replied to JackBenjaminBrissenden's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Jamberoo do some pretty decent stuff these days, and that concept plan looks great. Trouble is, until now, the new additions have been TOO FAR apart. Meanwhile WnW is on the verge of opening and trumping them. They better get building! -

I reckon they could do with a couple less statues in exchange for a little more (or any) theming on the shed -
Totally agree Jobe. And I also don't think it suits the theme/feel of the rest of the names they have released so far for the other attractions. With the suggestions I entered, I tried to match the feel of the other names. So far we have 360Rush, Double Bowlseye, Halfpipe, and now... Boomerang Bay?
-
I think they are all terrible choices and I can't believe they picked them. I may be biased 'cause I submitted a few and thought they were much better. They don't even reference the multi-experience feature of this river. And a lazy river certainly isn't a 'lagoon'

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
GoGoBoy replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You make a really good point themeparkgc. Previously the show building has only ever contained the ride path and associated scenes. All of the loading and unloading occurred outside the building. But with the Storm Coaster, the show building will now be used for guest queuing and the ride station, as well as the show scenes. -
Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
GoGoBoy replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Unfortunately I think it has been established that the water/boat section is exactly the same as the standard model. So it looks like any show scenes will be built around the fairly small flume section at the start (if at all), and the slightly longer one at the end -
What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
GoGoBoy replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It seems like there is a concerted effort at the moment not to use any brand relationship other than DC Comics. There has got to be a reason why they would be planning to replace the Looney Tunes River in the WB Kids' area with a ride that has a completely generic name/theme. It's pretty clear that they either can't, or don't want to, use Looney Tunes anymore. -
Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
GoGoBoy replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks very much for that. I wonder if there is going to be a dark ride section that sets up the approaching storm as well as whatever scene they have planned at the end. There might be just enough room after departing the station for a small scene -
Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
GoGoBoy replied to colliric_855's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I love the statues. But does anyone know if they are planning to build a facade on the front of the show building? Would be a shame to leave it as an exposed grey shed considering how good the rest of the theming has been -
Well of course they are counting each individual flume itself because saying 42 SLIDES & ATTRACTIONS... sounds better than 15 ATTRACTIONS! In reality though, I don't count the racer as 8 waterslides. It's one ride type - no matter how many times it's duplicated. Anyway, capacity-wise, we'll soon find out
-
The comp already has over 3000 entries. I'm gonna make a prediction. This park is going to need to expand sooner rather than later... I think it's going to be a massive hit. And despite the claim of 42 rides, there are really only around 15 or so major attractions. Expect lines.
