i think that the most thrilling carnival ride that doesn't take up much space at all and is so much fun and is thrilling would have to be the Zipper, it would suit the park so well and would fit perfectly even it could fit at the top where the tumble bug is, i mean come on there is still some vacant space behind coney island for some more rides and if i was luna park i would put a roller coaster a small loop coaster on top of coney island or on top of that party reception building on the warf. The park yeah is small, but larger than what people actually think so yeah there is room for a few more thrill rides, keep in mind they have solved such problems like this with ride on top of food outlets or buildings.

yeh i rekon the ride was the best at Luna Park, It's really high off the ground, the theming was better and the way you go up the lift hill was mad, becasue you get the view of the harbour bridge right at the top, Yeah i have to agree the sidewinder was the best becasue it had trees and scenery around the ride, The ride wasn't reduced at Dreamworld, becasue when it was fit in at Lujna Park the land wasn't flat so it fit in perfectly, but becasue the land is flat at Dremworld the first drop doesn't reach the ground neither does the banked hills, which don't make anywhere near the ground, it could be more exciting if it had larger drops, but at Luna Park the hills went on top of a fake Mountains and threw the queue line tunnel at the top of the big dipper building which still remains. But it had and always will be the best coaster at Luna Park and the now one of the only standing roller coasters in Australia that doesn'y have a remake of the ride.

i have heaps of photos of all of luna park beack in the 1970's, but unforunately its my aunties, so maybe when i go there which is never ill get them, lol, but they are made, it has the big dipper (wooden) ghost train, river caves, coney island, wild mouse and all the old favourites.

thats what i was gonna say willsy, thanks for beating me to it, but yeah on beaches there can be like bush area before you come accross the beach, but in circumstances like this i think that thats it's a bit wrong to place that ride where it is now, like there is no bush in the front of Dreamworld, if they wanted it to look more interesting i think the Gold Rush area would be better or near the tower of terror. It has more of a jungle or bush like feel down there and it's empty, to place a new ride like the claw in an are where they have large thrill ride like cyclone, wipe out, nick central, enterprise etc it makes the area seem more crowded and to play the claw near those rides would be even worse IMO.

Did the River rampage at Wonderland ever have a turntable, becasue i remeber it used to turn as well?

sorry but your immature sex comments are not very ammusing, and yes i do have a busy lifestyle, im currently studying for my end of year exams and my trial school certificate then my real school certificate, i have a part time job at mcdonalds working long shifts on weekends and a few nights during the week, im currently applying at different places for a chefs course at either tafe or other schools going throuhg interviews and crap like that. And my social life is caotic, i go out all the time and i dont tennis as activities my parents are never home so i cook for my other 4 brothers and sisters and manage to go to school 5 days a week. If you say that you have a big career or buisness job i think i speak for all those who go to school that attending school 35-40 hours a week is a very large job with assignments homeowrk school tasks and tests. So please dont go off over one silly comment that was made, big deal i cbf reading the rest of the forums not my problem.

I went past Wonderland last week and for some reason i saw the guysers on the snowy river rampage go off and when we went passed the highway both the space probe and the demon were operating. Why is that?

Why does Queensland have the main theme parks
Nightshifter replied to brady's topic in Theme Park Discussion
becasue where the theme parks are located which is on the Gold Coast is apart of an area where it really is only for tourists. Surferes Paradise is not Queenslands CBD, Brisbane is, therefore on the Gold Coast you will find that the area is all for tourists and for holiday purposes, tehres really no other place including Sydney where there is very limited buisness areas and all large holiday resorts. -
If anybody watched channel ten when video hits was on you would have noticed a mad commerical of dreamworld. The commerical has allt he main rides int he commerical and then at the end it advertises the claw showing the ride and saying it opens i think the 12th Spetember. Really good commercial be sure to catch it again.

Dreamworld's new attraction is made official
Nightshifter replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
why isnt this already advertised on their website yet? -
i think its a mad ride and it would be the best in dreamworld becasue its different and very fun. IMO, i dont think it will go there but anyway.
-
LOL I agree, the residents should shut up luna park was there before they were.
-
i have to agree with everything you said richard. The park is up to and including coney island but the back area is just shocking. If you think about it i think they could actually build a small roller coaster in that area. Would the demon possibly fit in that back area?
-
yes true, i understand they didnt spend money for rides but remember the place is small. They get very large crowds on the rides they already have today, why would they spend more money to remove rides and put new and different rides? They would never remove a ride thats in good condition and they did refurbish the rides, they took them to hombush for fixing up. But i like the park the way it is, it would be a bonus for new and better rides but the park is still great, remeber it really is a permanant carnival luna park, its not really a theme park.
-
i actually wouldnt expect luna park to build any more permanant rides but to see them actually get new rides every time is great. maybe they might have the zipper or other great thrill rides or even the rainbow ride, but i wouldnt expect more rides, the park just endured $100 million to fic up the place why build more things any time soon?
-
but were they or are they allowed to build an extension even though they have plans for construction?
-
the land is owned by ING but not for ING, they are actually smart, they bought the land and now are sub dividing it to other companies so are selling it more than twice as much as they paid in the first place.
-
i dont think luna park is allowed to touch the coney island building. The park is under strict laws that the coney island building, the big dipper building, the wild mouse, the ferris wheel, the carousel, the building along the side of the warf must not be touched or destroyed. However they cannot add to the building like more buildings. They are only allowed to renovate its original features or change the inside of the building. These buildings are under heritage listing sites. Thats why coney island cant be moved or destroyed or even the rides and features on the inside change as the paintings and features on the wall are historic to luna park and so are the rides.

i cam back this arvo from luna park today, and boy what a day it was. The place was packed out i mean it was very hrad to walk around. It took 30 minutes to get out tickets just to start going on the rides. It was great to see that they are doing really well but an extra 2 rides did not make a difference. We queued over an hour for the wild mouse which was great but not worth the wait, the line went past the stairs down the bottom and had a long queue past the cafe'. Coney island lets say is caustrophobic. The slides were quick and easy to get on but with very long queues, the joy wheel is extremely long. The ranger area at the back wasnt so busy so it was quivk and easy to get on the rides there perhaps people were unaware that you can go around behind coney island. The rotor was too long to wait for so i didnt bother going on. The tango train pulled large queues but it was a quick ride and it has a large capacity, same with the tumblebug. There is no queue for the U.F.O what so ever. So that was the quickest ride of the day. Everything else was alright it was just too packed, i think more permanant rides like the zipper will do. IM very disappointed with what they did at the back of the park with the ranger and spider. Its very boring and its not really set out properly. I think that area lacks looks and teh rides look very cheap. IF i owned luna park the first ride i would remove would be the spider becasue its a shocking version of the breakdance ride. The place makes thousnads upon thousands of dollars on food sales. $3.50 for a bottle of water. $3.50 for a sno cone in a plastic cup. $5.00 a hot dog $6.50 a mini pizza which is 1 slice of a standard pizza $6.00-$7.00 for a burger depending on the type of burger $4.50 a meat pie $1.50 extra for potato and gravy on top $3.50 for hot chips and the cheapest deal there was $6.00 for 6 nuggets and chips in a box which was alright but a bit stingy for my liking. There are no meal deals so that was crap and there was no other cheaper food outlets out of the park, so the place was literaaly packed out of the food joint. When my mum ordered the food the guy cooking at the back threw his apron and hat on the floor and left. The people at the cashier were so pissed it was so funny. Many workers were annoyed throughout the day, they all have attitude problems, it certainly needs to be fixed. Last tip, great park, great scenery, great views and great set out with some great rides but the park lacks thrill rides. They are mainly portable carnival style rides which are really boring. So the park should look at placing some new rides thrill rides preferably and actuallly consider placing a coaster somewhere in the park. A simple tower of terror typed ride could work well as it is is fun to ride and takes a small strip of land. Overall it was fun i would rate the park for the day 7/10 (so just above average)

ive been at the entrance lately, the offices are still open, we went there to get any left over merchandise, they were selling boxes for like $10 with hundreds of dollars of merchandies, but we dont have much left. The place is completey dead although there nothing destroyed as of yet becasue wonderland is not owned by ING until january 2005, so its possible that they couls reopen, lol i dont think it would but it was stupid to close in april.

If i ran DW, i would yeh fix up the cyclone becasue i think the whole theming is cheap looking and i would add another train to the ride becasue it gets very long queues. I would fix up the thunder rapids and add a few water features, like a waterfall and geysers. I would make another thunderbolt to take the old thunderbolts spot, make it the same with a large banked hill and 2 vertical loops and change the rest of the course to make it better than the old thunderbolt. I would revamp the whole beach section of the park make it bigger, better water rides ect. An for easier access around the park i would have better monorail systems and also have better facilities like restaurants ect. Dreamworld would be free of entry becasue more people come into the park this way and then i would make unlimited ride passes for whoever wants to go on rides and also single ride tickets becasue it hink u make more money this way like luna park sydney. I would add a few more thrill rides which we dont have like a tower of terror ride (not the same name) but the elevator ride there and other rides, but my biggest project would be to make a giga coaster, like the worlds fastest and tallest roller coaster to put dreamworld back on the map, but i would make it a full circuit roller coaster becasue its more fun to ride and its a longer ride expereince with several large drops. I would actually need at least a bilion dollars to continue runnign dreamworld and producing new rides and themed area every year. And then i would rename dreamworld to Utopia because it symbolises fun and everyone shares the euqal experience as everyone else and its a world of freedom.

its arrived, after a very long wait we have the wodnerland photos that a few people have been asking for, now they arent the bestest of photos, and im missing a few but this will do. They have been taken well before i was born so these photos, well the old rides date back from 1985-86. The new photos are from 2001. If anyone would like to contribute more old wonderland photos they have, please post them in.
