  1. A bit of retheming has happened with the Arena so far too. No more italian rally posters. The building the car comes out from at the end of the show has an "Eastside Gym" sign on it. The Parking station is now done up like a 50s Garage. One of the shops on the left hand wall is now like a Retro 50s diner....It's looking very Californian.
  2. Nah, it was planned to run 5 person mammoth rafts (And indeed has been till this point ) which allow for a slightly lower height limit. So jjuttp, does that mean you are the only member who has ridden Riptide with 3 types of rafts in the space of a couple of months ?
  3. I remember the Claw being pretty well received at the time. Good ride, fairly cohesive theming. Buzzsaw was OK for what it is...At least it only cost $6 Mil, and it is a nice little trick despite being a one trick pony. I think the real issue is they never seem to do the big $15-$20 Million installs like the other parks do. Maybe they could if they stopped spreading their capital budget so thinly on lots of little flats that would be unlikely to drive much visitation. A passholder would probably pop in and give Shockwave a go, but I doubt one would become one in the first place, or would decide to renew because of Shockwave.
  4. Aren't they kind of scratching the barrel in terms of what else they could put in Wiggles World?
  5. ^Sky Climb at SW is free now jussayin.
  6. Try again. Also http://www.rwsentosa.com/language/en-US/Homepage/ContactUs
  7. What do the official websites say?
  8. So, are they the same or not?
  9. I still don't see how they are similar though. One freefalls, the other one spins around. It's like saying TOT and Motocoaster are the same because they both launch you, and they both run along a track.
  10. That looks like a video promoting the previous iteration of the design (It seems as if the park has gone through 3 full redesigns through the whole process). In previous versions, it seemed as if only Whitewater West were doing the slides, so it had a Ratter instead of a Tornado for instance.
  11. WnW Sydney have adjusted their opening hours in Feb. http://wetnwildsydney.com.au/plan-my-day.aspx#! All Weekends are 10-8pm Weekdays 3rd-14th are 12-8pm Weekdays 17th-28th are 3-8pm Good if you are planning on visiting after school or work.
  12. Which tower ride is in the Dreamworks area? Unless you are referring to Giant Drop, which is silly because basically every park with a skyscreamer/starflyer has a drop tower anyway (Eg SFOT has Superman Tower of Power, Cedar Point has Power Tower, Kings Island has Drop Tower: Scream Zone, Grona Lund has Fritt Fall yada yada yada. People that try and say star flyers are the same as drop towers are as bad as the people who try and say flying coasters and inverted coasters are the same. Never thought I'd hear the day when somebody said that Ocean Parade needed more flat rides
  13. Ah yep, forgot to sau, yes it was.
  14. Popped into SW for a couple of hours this arvo, some more observations about Storm Coaster: -The line seems to always move, I was counting 45 seconds between each boat. -Bloody popular. At 3pm the line was out a few meters beyond the shipping container entrance. -I spotted another effect which has yet to be commissioned, but can't remember if it was even there previously. Between the water dump and the load station is what appears to be a water curtain effect from some overhead pipes. There are even some rectangular led lights up with it, so I'm guessing the waterfall will have a bit of light thrown on it to make it more visible. -No fire yet. -Several giant fans are in the queue now (Kind of like the mist fans they have around DW in summer, but bigger, and no mist). Some ducting for A/C has been installed inside too, including some big flexible ducts that hang over the first flume section. -The containers at the entrance/exit have had the rubber flaps removed, and whirly ventilators have been installed, so it's not really hot in there anymore. The lack of flaps didn't make a difference to the indoor light levels actually, so good riddance I suppose. Sadly, the wall inside the container has been scratchittied to death already. -Loose items.... I asked, and the attendant said that things in pockets are allowed, but not bulky things like bags. Lockers are available, but a lot of people just had bags left lined up along the fence next to the entrance :S -Onride photos were working, happens just before the splashdown. -The tunnel you dive into has a ridiculous amount of fog in it, so it's basically a full whiteout. Very cool.
  15. ^I thought the big joke when the Big Red Boat had it's planning application was that it was a "Mini Disko" and how tiny that model looks.
  16. They have the Merlin Annual pass. There aren't any Alton+Thorpe combo tickets. You'll have to do the sums to see if it works out cheap for what you want to do, but if you want to see some stuff like the London Eye (Everyone does that right), London Dungeons (And even Madame Tussauds etc) then it can work out to be good value, which is what I found with my visit. It even includes Legoland and Chessington, and even though I had no plans for Legoland I did it anyway for the lulz. It also came with 1 hour early entry at Alton, which was good for getting on stuff like Rita and Oblivion straight up without a queue (PS Rita is good, not as good as superman, but say roughly on par with Jet Rescue) Some conditions have changed in recent years, but one thing I remember is that in the peak of peak there were blackout dates on the London Eye. Edit: Stuff it, passes are on sale and heavily discounted at the moment according to the site. I actually took advantage of a similar offer and ordered early back when i did my trip in 2008, 100GBP for the basic annual pass, 125 GBP for Gold, and that includes a free fast track each visit, no blackout dates. Online prices (individual attractions) London Eye 18 GBP, Thorpe 25 GBP, Alton 36 GBP, which brings the total to 79, so you'd want to do one or two other attractions to make it viable to get a pass.
  17. I'll say Alton, I found it a much nicer and better run park, and there was more to do. Nemesis is fantastic, Oblivion is really fun, and Air impressed me (Despite having been on Tatsu, i still found it really good!) The Smiler looks pretty mental (Haven't ridden) Alton doesn't have as many flats, but apart from slammer/rush you would have been on them all before here in Aus, so what's the point? Alton has some other cool stuff, like Hex, which is a great experience. Duel was well done as well. But hey, is it really that much of a stretch to visit both? I mean it's like one extra day on your itinerary, but if you've spent $1600 or whatever on flights you'll want to see as much as possible.

  19. There are already R 18+ themed coasters, jussayin.
  20. ^I can't really speak for Tokyo, but on site accom at WDW works because the whole idea is that WDW is substantial enough you never need to leave property.
  21. Why would they hire someone unwilling to do much ,when there would be other applicants who can dance AND pose for photos. Anyhow, you'd speak to the parks HR dept, or just knock on the door of the entertainment dept.
  22. Is the park in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
  23. Regret not bothering to ride the flying flume when I was in Mandurah. Next time....
  24. "the majority of the general public" becomes " the teenage population" and "all my friends".
