  1. Lol did you ride Scooby on the night? I bet you really enjoyed the unique night time experience of an indoor coaster.
  2. Regardless, If both Transformers and Shrek are originally non Universal then I'd think both brands could be used at any park that wishes to. A Transformers attraction might not even have to be a 4D ride for instance. Locally, who would ever guessed we'd see a situation where both Ardent and WVTP effectively "swapped" brands. At the end of the day, money is the most important thing to these companies. At the same time, none of us have access to the contracts associated with these deals and what rights either party reserves (Exclusivity etc). Trying to second guess what a bunch of execs in America would do.......
  3. I'd think so, since the computer would probably show that she had claimed her opening night ticket.
  4. Look, point is there are ways parks can have rides not from their studio if they really want to and both parties agree. Obviously the ownership of movie rights is complex, can chop and change (See the way Universal and Six Flags both had Terminator rides for a period) so its not as clean cut as saying "yep they could do that, nope they can't do that" Would you agree with this statement?
  5. I reckon funnel web would have looked better if they did the panels in a grid rather than the checkerboard pattern, more like a web basically.
  6. DreamWorks is a distributing studio though . ....Simpson's ride. ....Avatar land
  7. Doesn't work that way. Basically, parks spend money on a new ride, and they make that money back in increased/sustained attendance over the life of the ride, and associated spending resulting from building that ride (Eg extra people come to the park, and they buy food, souvenirs, photos etc) A new ride is also an excuse to increase admission prices, so they can make back money that way. Generally in Australia, the most expensive new rides are $15-$20 Mil AUD, because for our low population and realistic attendance figures for our parks, that's about the upper limit of what we can spend. Transformers I'd guestimate would be around $100 mil, based around what large scale themed attractions cost. There is no way a park here could make back $100 mil on a new ride, so they don't do it. Universal wouldn't 'collaborate' and chip in money, because they too would want to know they are going to make back the money they are putting into it
  8. Who cares? Movie World still doesn't have the budget for a Transformers ride, due to the high construction cost.
  9. I'd love it more than anything else, but the park just wouldn't have the budget for it...We're talking 3 to 5 times more expensive than even the dearest Australian attractions built here.
  10. This applies to both this and the LPM thread, but things have probably gone back and forth enough for now.
  11. Am I the only one that reads the name Beto Carrero world, and thinks of Beta Carotene.
  12. Just run a shuttle bus between the two, Disneyworld style. But WnW is well and truly a full day park, so I can't see much park hopping.
  13. It's late, at night, I'm bored, time for another stupid/funny poll! Which will ever open to the public first...Orphan Rocker at Scenic World or Flying Turns at Knoebels?
  14. I think the issue with Superman is that the layout of the station and shop areas aren't that conducive to fitting a Claw/Motocoaster/Wipeout type, it's a little too constrained IMO.
  15. I think jjuttp is right, wheels are paired with a cross axle and pivot in the middle: http://upload.wikime..._Test_Track.jpg
  16. I think superman is acceptable to use lockers due to the arrangement of the load and unload stations.
  17. ^Dont be daft, an 'expensive option' (As you put it) would be staying at a high rise hotel in Surfers or similar. We're talking Caravan Parks, not the Hilton. Caravan parks cabins or motor inns cheaper/cheapest, especially when away from the tourist strip. Lets forget about backpackers for a second because not everyone necessarily wants to sleep in a dorm with strangers. Not denying it's not the cheapest option. $80 a night gets you a private room at YHA Surfers, but still no ensuite. You said the other option was a motel, the going rate for them is around $120 give or take, Twin room at Coomera Motor inn is $115 for instance, Golden Chain (Can hardly say they are luxury lol!) in Runaway bay is $135. Ensuite cabin at Treasure Island Caravan park ( <3 <3 <3 ) is $120 a night. Anyway, point is, why were you bragging that you did a week long trip for the cost of a one day one, if you were able to cut corners in ways Mort couldn't? Why did you?
  18. Can't get proof I bet, because cameras/loose items are not allowed, so no way to get a pic of the plaque in the train.
  19. Does Mort have access to free accommodation like you did? Very deceptive comparsion mate! A cabin at the decent caravan park over the road from MW is $120 a night, so for a 5 night stay that's $600.
  20. Have found this interesting to observe. Then: OMG they closed batman adventure, and are focusing on Green Lantern and Arkham Asylum, what about the families? Now: Justice League isn't thrilling enough and needs to go faster.
  21. How does the cost of the Airtrain from BNE and taking the TX5 Bus from Helensvale station compare to a days car rental?
  22. ^So you're telling me the 5 days or so of intensive use of the international terminal during the Airshow makes the other 725 days per two years of low usage worthwhile?
