  1. Because predicting whether a particular effect in a ride would work or not before the ride has even run once (And conceivably, that fog screen might not even be installed yet...construction is ongoing) is silliness. So hell yeah I was implying that it was a dumb discussion! Alton Towers are building a new coaster at the moment.... OMG I wonder if the wheel will fall off? Will the ride work? Tune in early next year to find out!
  2. By questioning it, you were implying something is 'wrong' with what other people are doing, or else why bother making the post. It's a message board, Zane.
  3. No, because the park has ATMs to get money out with.
  4. 80s ads are amazing;
  5. No, you have it the wrong way round. They loaded the boats backwards, so by the time you got to the town bit you were facing fowards (Or else how would you see the Dodge City sign do its thing where there is a gunshot and the population drops by one) PS, Westical you are amazing.
  6. ^The only annoying thing is the Airport Express trains don't stop at Sunny bay (Where you change for the Disney line), so you have to go all the way to Tsing Yi, then change to a Tung Chung Line train and go back the way you came...35 mins that way.
  7. Not necessarily waiting at the gate, but its just an hour people would kill doing other stuff in the morning rather than being at the park. AlexB is right, the workforce is casual, so you can make them work whenever. If they can organize shifts for Halloween and Christmas, (Or illumnaite at DW or Dive in Movies at WnW) they can do it for other days too. Furthermore, the periods of longer opening would be in the school holidays, and this when they have the temporary seasonale workers anway, so you can staff it that way.
  8. So what happened in the section that currently exists where the geysers are, where there is the special section of the course where the boats hit the dead end, drift sideways, and start going forwards again?
  9. And it manages the reverse drop much better rather than stopping for an eternity. Love that little detail where the cable is shown to be snapping.
  10. I don't think that really makes sense. At all. The whole point of a later closing time is to give people more hours to see everything on the busy days. Queue times, longer lines for food and slower movement through the park eats up more time, so an extra hour or two or more stops people missing out on stuff. It also spreads the load a bit, as people don't necessarily have to arrive bang on 10am to get a decent amount of time in the park..... So if you push back opening, you take that away from them...and for what? The 9pm closing at WnW is perfect in summer, because that place gets rammed. Notice when the park closes at 9pm (4 hours later than normal) they don't push back opening by four hours (to 2pm)...Because that would be dumb.
  11. You just got a VIP pass squid? Shoulda held out just one more day, because everyone elses passes would have expired....Come back in a week or two once the holidays are over. think AlexB makes a valid point. Haloween and White Christmas are more about the theme of the event. What he is getting at is that MW could perhaps have a few nights per year where the park is just open late to allow more night time riding...No different to Screamworld, or the way WnW runs slides etc whilst the dive in movie is on. I for one would support say a 7-8pm closing time in busy periods...Gives you a bit more time to see everything, and in summer you could enjoy the cool of the evening to do stuff. Many other theme parks have longer opening hours for parts of the year, with calendars that tell you the times.
  12. Big Grizzly Mountain has opened at HKDL now: I reckon this has tipped it and I'll seriously start looking at a trip there now.
  13. buzzkill13 already did
  14. 4:15 on busy days, and, very rarely, a 5:15 show on the most insane days of the year.
  15. Its pretty obvious you are pissed of that nobody agrees with your analysis of wooden coasters.
  16. Just recalled his name.....Sam Clark:
  17. Huh? You make it sound as if DW has the choice between a Giga or a wooden coaster. A leading question. It's like someone from Melbourne saying..Would you rather go on holiday to Dreamworld, or to Disney? I mean, obviously you'd pick Disney, but that doesn't mean you can actually afford the trip to Disney. I mean, obviously if it were the choice between a $30,000,000 Giga, or a $10,000,000 woodie I'd pick the giga because it's the bigger ride. But if it were the choice between a $10,000,000 Woodie and a $10,000,000 Motocoaster. Or heck even a $3,000,000 Big fun woodie, and a $6,000,000 Buzzsaw, I'd take the woodie for sure. I'm suprised you can't see where people are coming from in this respect. Ugh but that video review was by some girl who isn't necessarily representative. And the GP aren't necessarily right. If you're going to pull that argument, look what the GP were saying about the Skyrush POV when Hersheypark first released it: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=3668999517465 This the new coaster? ...And no loops? No loops, no corkscrews, would probably be a one time ride only. Im sorry but this ride does not look all that great ..I'm a big roller coaster fan and I know what roller coasters are ..this is not that much of an exciting intense ride :/ sorry I would have to ride it to get the full experience but by the look of it ..it doesn't look good If it's anything like King Da Ka in 6 flags Great Adventure it is gonna SUCK!!! ALL HYPE just because it's the highest and fastest. Give me that add loops and corkscrews then we are talking a MEGA COASTER!!!! Having only One big hill is just plain lame to me. It just gives you enough time to start to settle into the ride wanting more only to be extremely disappointed that the hill height and speed was all it had to offer. King da ka was a Mega Disappointment and this looks like it will be as well ; { other than the beginniing hill, doesn't seem like much else to it. don't like won't share Considering they raised the admission price again this year and all the hype about the new ride, I expected a lot more out of this coaster. Big yawn! Hate to say it but I'm leaning more to six flags or dorney park this year. ooks boring - my 8 yr old is bummed out. Wish they'd listen to the polls the newspaper does each year - and every year the people vote that a haunted house would be nice - or do a coaster that sets some sort of record. Point is, finding one small set of opinions is not representative. Obviously all those people saying Skyrush was going to be boring were a bit wrong. Here's someone on a Wooden Coaster loving it : Even little kids love it:
  18. Its no different to when they got that Neighbours actor turned singer doing shows at the park.
  19. Well considering they have yet to build one I'll assume you were reading 'accounts' for another one of their coasters. Yeah I'm sorry but until you actually ride a modern wooden coaster you can't actually comment. Have been on Terminator at SFMM and that was a great ride! Your post kinda reminds me of that member DW_Rulz from ages back who tried to tell people who had ridden good wooden coasters that they were crap....even though he himself had never been on one. With respect to the maitenance of a wooden coaster...IMO the route to go down is one by Rocky Mountain Coasters with wood profile/topper track (Like New Texas Giant, and the yet to be named project at Silver Dollar City)..While not techically a true woodie, they have the look of one. Plus New Texas Giant is my #1 coaster, so I may be a bit biased I don't like the chances of a woodie here to be honest. We don't have an off season like most US/Euro parks have to do the large amounts of maintenance needed. Random side note, but DjRappa writing "almost tropical" saved my sanity from seeing the word "subtropical". Just wrote a research paper based around "subtropical" housing, so have seen/typed that word too many times in the past week or so. To the topic..Coasters I want to see here I think are realistic. -Zacspin (Yes, I know they aren't the long coaster people are yearning for, but they are one of the best coaster types out there IMHO -Intamin Megalite/Mack Equivalent -Maurer/Gerstlauer spinning coaster....I'd sooner trust the Gerstlauer one mechanically though. -Possibly a Rocky mountain woodie, but it would require due dilligence on the park installing it to work out how much maintenance it actually needs.
  20. A bit of an exaggeration to say they get one big new attraction every year at all parks!
  21. They ride well, based upon the one I went on at Epcot.
  22. I don't think the trees out the front were 'part' of the design for Ricks though.
  23. Never occured to me how accurate the entrance doors are to the film:
