  1. Check this out: Basically, its built by Mack and you ride in submarines suspended from an overhead track, and go through a real aquarium. I imagine a ride like this would be easier to maintain than the Disneyland Finding Nemo ride because all the moving parts are out of the water, and the subs could just be hoisted right up if need be...... Would be cool if SW finally got a full blown oceanarium (Like in Sydney, Melbourne and Mooloolobah) and had this thing running around inside.
  2. Don't Taz's Hollywood Cars fulfil their dodgem car quota though? Not sure why you'd replace a full sized thrill coaster with a kids Ben 10 themed one.
  3. Suprisingly, it's been done: Source: http://www.coasterforce.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30271&time=1305888769
  4. Not 100% on the specifics, as I said it's something many theme parks have, but as far as I know if they still the equipment on site they can claim the depreciation on tax.
  5. I’m with T-Bone, why does them being removed from the ride building mean they were necessarily sold. Looney Tunes (Along with Bermuda Triangle and Vikings Revenge) were all designed built in house by the park, so it is unlikely another theme park would have a boat attraction compatible with this boat design, and even if a compatible attraction does exist, it unlikely that theme park suddenly needs dozens 20 year old boats to add to their attractions’ fleet at this moment. I would say they are ether in storage (Most theme parks keep old rides around on site in a ‘boneyard’ for tax write off purposes) or the second option is that they were simply sent to the tip, as has happened with many old theme park attractions on the coast.
  6. True, but what I was getting at is, are we going to be walking through an aquarium or some sort of undesea base, or a "sea garden" like the Flounder coaster at Disneysea: http://www.rcdb.com/1501.htm?p=14615, or something like what already surrounds reef diver (With fake fish on fibreglass seaweed).
  7. The logo suggests some degree of oceanic theme, and this would surely have to have been done from the outset (I doubt they could've "oceanised" the logo with the press release revision in such a short timeframe) : My thoughts GoGoBoy...I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, certainly the Lair looked very good, quite detailed and well done theming, so they may well do something nice here. The construction site has quite a large levelled area on the Ocean Parade side, logically where the queue will go, so they could well fit some good theming in here. Disko Coaster also has 40 passenger vehicle, so it's likely we could be getting a smaller one like Invader at Rainbows end (Which lists it's length as 80m ) Could it be that the linear dimension of the ride is 63, but the track itself will be 80m due to the curvature?
  8. http://about.dreamworld.com.au/Media-Centre/Press-Releases/Press-Release-Pages/Shockwave.aspx In full, the revised press release: I wonder what they have in mind when they say that you "Travel through an undersea world".
  9. ^It's sort of that Thorpe Park syndrome, most of the rides there are pretty nicley themed, but the names rarely relate to the actual theme, they more just go for something edgy to reel people in...Eg they have a 1950s hot rod themed launched coaster called "Stealth", and an Atlantis themed screamin swing named 'Rush", to give a couple of prime examples.
  10. It's on the boundary though, so the entance could be on thy OP side. Cool sounding theme though.
  11. We actually got Randy to write the topic title for us.
  12. The bus is now leaving for where ?
  13. Was thinking the same with respect to the theme.... If they incorporated it with 'Adrenaline Alley' they could get away with it.
  14. Cool that its a Disko coaster, but judging by the description of the ride, is anyone else having a horrible thought that this is going to be the thrill ride announced in the ASX release?
  15. This made me laugh a bit: http://thrillz.com.au/articles/news/disk-o-at-dreamworld-australia Record Breaking? For $6 Million? In that space at the front of the car park...lolwut?
  16. 2:47 for anyone soley interested in construction in the video above... Pics or it didn't happen.
  17. To be fair, even the simulator was nothing special either. Just rather lame and poorly animated.
  18. ^Not enough active productions basically.
  19. Worst boat ride ever.
  20. Aren't they basically doing both? What's not to understand? They are using land that was previously parking, and putting a fence around it. They aren't going to build a coaster out in the open where any member of the public could walk around the ride operation area, hence getting a fence up around the future site would be the first order of business.
  21. ^It was a stupid idea anyway, glad to see it fail, I really am. Seeing a film could waste about 1/4 of your day, and that is time that could be better spent actually riding rides....Hundreds of places in Australia I can watch a film, but only one where I can shoot up a tower at 160 km/h.
  22. Ohh can we see the one of you riding the camel?! Thanks in advance!
  23. No sign of that crappy eurofighter knock off coaster?
  24. ^Yeah, but if a park has kangaroos etc, it's always going to help out when you are talking about a group of internationals. But when it comes to park to revisit, the one with the better coasters and theming is gonna win out.
  25. ^ Couldn't you just check the booking section to see if you can book the pass? :S
