  1. The sign for it is a bit cheeky. http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-sn...3_6185519_n.jpg
  2. In reality, it would be expensive to say go all the way up to the Arctic Circle to see the Polar Bears, and then back down to the Tropics to see the fish in Shark Bay, and then down to Victoria to see the fairy penguins, and then go on a charter boat to see Dolphins/Whales etc.
  3. ^Yeah, to be more specific, I'd define a water park as being a place where you spend all day in your swimmers, and the vast majority of attractions are either water slides or things that involve swimming (Eg wave pools, lazy rivers etc) so Wet 'n' Wild and Whitewater World. Sea World is predominantly a 'dry park', and not a water park. You go around in your street clothes, and it is mostly animal exhibits, shows, and rides that don't involve swimming. The place does have a small water park section, but then again, many theme parks have these.....Wonderland had The Beach, Dreamworld used to have Blue Lagoon before they took it away etc. But they weren't classified as water parks on the whole. Perhaps another way to look at it. The Gold coast water parks from above: http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-27.914676,153....mp;nmd=20091111 http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-27.865407,153....mp;nmd=20091111 Compared to Sea World from above: http://www.nearmap.com/?ll=-27.957221,153....mp;nmd=20091111 Very different...
  4. But Sea World and Whitewater World are completely different.
  5. Any other ideas for ride related posters?
  6. Haha, the person who wrote that mucked up. The 200km/h "F1 coaster" will be the large launcher. The "Emotion coaster" will be the two Smaller Maurer Sonhe built ones, and will have the yellow cars depicted above. And the "second rollercoaster that mimics the g-forces of an F1 car and shoots 62 metres into the air, through the theme park's spectacular scarlet roof" is actually just the space shot ride.
  7. I've said this in the past, but whenever you are riding any sort of fast body slide you should just lift your heels a couple of centimeters off the slide surface, and that stops most of the spray.
  8. With the transparent overlay idea, you could do something like the pinboard of photos, but have one of the photos as a random one that sits behind a blank frame on the pinboard...You'd probably set some parameters like excluding construction photos, and positioning portrait photos to center themselves and crop the top and bottom.
  9. Probably the clearest video...You go a bit beyond 90 degrees up the wall:
  10. Agreed, especially considering that, this on the whole is a decent choice for the park anyway. A high speed body slide is something I have wanted to see at WWW, and until now the original stage 2 plans weren't going to address that.
  11. You can report accounts like that, go into it and click the link below the profile photo. Edit: Aww, and now the motocoaster pic has been pulled.
  12. I find day to day stuff in other places kind of interesting....Hey, wanna see my time-lapse POV of the LA Subway Anyhow, you've thrown down the gauntlet, I should go through my photos and find the other wierd stuff I've taken pictures of.
  13. Hahaha, somebody did. It wasn't me, someone own up!
  14. Hmmmm Notice how MW took a subtle dig at DW when Superman opened....Lets Reword this for when Aqualoop opens...
  15. Clearly: http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/AU/Gold_Coas...Flume_Ride.html
  16. If you've seen you should get this: Credit goes to T-Bone for the idea.
  17. Why? Despite some recent poorer performance, Ardent/Macquaire have generally been a successful company...With their track record, why cant they organise finance to invest in a new major attraction. This is the important point. Imagine if DW didn't have TOT and GD....Would as many people be visiting the park as they today? Yeah, you can get some quick returns (supposedly lol) from upcharges etc, but it's the major rides that keep the place going.
  18. Translucent doesn't mean transparent....It just means a material that lets light through. It will just be like the last turns on Supertubes, where you can see a shadow of people going through, and that's it. The Aqualoop at WnW on the otherhand: WVTP will have the see through ones....because they are awesome It's looks different enough...I'd say its yellow rather than orange (Makes sense as a colour choice since the park doesn't have large yellow slide yet)
  19. It's a forum, you don't have to ask for my opinion Carls Jr is a major American fast food chain....I'm a bit of a fan of their beef teriyaki burger actually (But gah, I forgot to go back there when I was in the US, I guess the attraction of In 'n' Out and Panda Express proved too much) MOS Burger is a premium Japanese burger chain. Dairy Queen is American, and they are sort of like Wendys, and do ice cream etc, they are pretty good too. Orange Julius is a juice bar. Anyhow, calm down a bit. I was only trying to help, I just thought you might have had the wrong impression of Singapore, and I was just throwing it out there that you'd be fine. Why? Imagine if I said that I'd refuse to go to France because I was afraid of being eaten by giant robotic dinosaurs....It would be stupid because I'd be worried about a problem that doesn't exist. By all means, there a places I'm not interested in going because I'd be worried for my own personal saftey, country has nothing I'd like to see etc. In reality, I most likely won't go to Singapore specifically for Universal, but when I head to Europe I'll structure my trip to have a stop over in Singapore for a couple of days (Since many airlines use that as their stopover point anyway) Hang on...so why do you dislike Singapore then? I think this picture sums it up $1000 fine for smoking! Indeed, In Dubai I just stuck to McDonalds, KFC, Taco Bell etc....Lol I was even lucky enough to find Big Ms for sale in the Supermarket:
  20. Fail. Water in Singapore is fine to drink, and they are world leaders in water purification and recycling technology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_resources_of_Singapore The point you seem to be missing is that Singapore is a developed country. Not every Asian country is poor! Singapore is up there with the likes of Japan etc in terms of wealth. So it follows on that Singapore has similar laws to us with respect to food handling (See http://www.ras.org.sg/index.php?option=com...36&Itemid=9 ). You wouldn't get sick from the food and.... So you could always stick to the stuff you know.
  21. I've always found Superman to be reasonably smooth, pretty much on par with the other Intamins I have ridden, I've noticed on their rides you tend to hear rattles (Yes, even at Disney with their perfect maintenance! On CA screamin I manged to get a ride without music, so you could hear the rattles then.) but it doesn't really transfer into much roughness really. I would've put Corkscrew and Superman on par with each other actually. While we are here, I think it's fair to say the bench smoothest coaster in Australia is clearly Surfrider () with Jet Rescue a close second.
  22. ^Good find. Seems as if most new aquatic centers in Victoria are getting water park style slides these days. Pretty funny though that a government run project is likely going to get a Tantrum up and running before any other of the Australian parks (WWW, Adv. Waters, Jamberoo too I think?) that have these things on the drawing board. Anyhow, when I'm in Melbourne in the future it gives me an excuse to do another "obscure trip to an outer suburban swim centre to ride a type of slide I previously haven't"....
  23. Hey Ed, Have you ever considered publishing pictures from your events? Sort of like what the ECC does? Eg: http://www.coasterclub.org/gallery/albums/thorpe_2009/
  24. Gazza replied to Evolution03's topic in Gaming
Lol, its just a spam message....The bot was just trying to make it sound like it was discussing an error with its units.
  25. ^No way it is anywhere as bad as those two rides. I think I mentioned at some point that I managed to ride Sea Viper and Cyclone on the same day, and Sea Viper was much smoother.
