Discount Tickets
You'll find that these days the bulk of the discounts out there are for passes (Eg Qld VIP pass, endless summer pass)...Once off discounts for one day tickets are becoming a bit of a rarity.

Michael Jackson Themepark
Like I said, if they were to go down this route it would be another Hard Rock Park. A pun is not a way to theme a ride.

Universal Studios Singapore
Well, the park is due to open in a few weeks, and it really does look great: Looking forward to what they might do with this version of ROTM. Knock off of Storm Force Acceleratron at IOA. The main upcharge, the amber rock climb: Beats the vintage cars at DW, thats for sure. Far Far Away boulevard...If the final park doesn't have two Starbucks across the road from each other, and a Burger Prince ill be disappointed. Far Far Away castle....I was told by someone that apparently Universal want to have bigger castles than Disney (Hence Harry Potter at IOA as well) Despite all this, I do think MW has a better looking main street roof: The Shrek meet & greet? The rapids are testing now too:

Michael Jackson Themepark
I dunno about anyone else, but I don't see this sort of thing ever getting off the ground, It just sounds too woolly....Almost like a Hard Rock Park with an even weaker base theme...I mean, a 'Thriller' roller coaster, sounds like the sort of idea you'd come up with in 10 seconds. Oh, and there will be a Carousel, big wheel and bumper cars. I guess they really want to pull out the big guns for this $1 Bil project.

What's new for 2010

What's new for 2010
^No, because it is the same 'property'. Similar case for WVTP, the site at Oxenford is basically a huge triangle with no property boundaries between the studios, the two parks, AOS, paradise country etc, so when a development application appears it could be anywhere on that site.

What's new for 2010
They probably don't have a separate category simply because its still a 'building', so the same rules can still apply....Simpler than drawing up a set of regulations that would be rarely used in the scheme of things. For what its worth, Kamikaze at WnW was also categorised as a Miscelaneous Commercial Structure...and pretty much everything else they have lodged for that matter. The info came from at http://pdonline.goldcoast.qld.gov.au You firstly can search for properties by whichever method you prefer (Map, address, applicant etc), and then each property has a list of applications lodged.

What's new for 2010
I think that might mean it just falls under the rules of the building code (As opposed to something like a car park, sewer, tree works etc which have different sets of rules to comply with)

Pretty sure these coasters don't have any bird protection systems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvGZJdgO7g0

What's new for 2010
I'm gonna say the opposite, and the ride would rise up and down out of the water. The reason is that it you would be having to pump around 76,000L of water (Assuming its 20cm deep) in and out each cycle. If you wanted to do that in 10 seconds you'd need the pumping requirements of 80 water slides. Obviously though lifting the ride up and down 20cm would be fairly simple...Heaps of rides rise up to operating height.

Ride Queue Times
The way they did it at Thorpe was that the greeter would just phone in to someone, rather than someone walking around. There still can be a time lag though; I was heading to X:/ No Way Out because the queue time said 5 minutes, after queuing for longer than that outside and finally nearing the entrance to the building I politely asked "Is the wait time really 5 minutes" (I was worried I might have to do further queuing inside the building, luckily not though) and the bloke said "Whoops, better update that actually, before jumping on the phone".....True story!

SE Question
The ride systems themselves would want to know about a rollback too though.

RCT3 Game Question
^No, because you aren't changing when the sun rises and sets, you are changing when the park 'opens' and 'closes', and then the game skips the part of the day when the park isn't open.
-
SE Question
I had always assumed they were there to determine whether the train had cleared the top hat, but what Tim is saying is pretty plausible too.

RCT3 Game Question
All guests stay in the park, It just affects the day night cycle. For example if you wanted a park where it was night for most of the time you could do opening hours of 6pm to 2am or something, and the game would automatically skip the daylight hours.

Stage 3 is go go go
Just having a play around, there's not really the run length to fit in a straight freefall slide, but some twisted ones are fairly feasible. Again, the diameter of curves and length of the runout troughs are scaled off the manufacturers drawings:

Funfields Pirate Ship
That's because it is the one from Sea World, the ride was relocated from Queensland down to Victoria, see: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=4717

The Off Topic Topic
http://www.ushsho.com/detailedsteelrollerc...results2009.htm The 2009 steel coaster poll results are in! http://www.ushsho.com/detailedsteelrollerc...results2009.htm ...Unfortunatley, most of our rides had too few riders who took the poll, so they weren't given official rankings (I think a minimum of 15 riders are needed for that). They still did have their winning percentages, so we can see how they ranked that way. Superman got 0.9091, which would have put it 31st, ahead of Top Thrill Dragster (31), but behind Storm Runner (30) Scooby got 0.5860, which would have put it at 150th. Motocoaster got 0.0909, which would have put it 356th out of 368...Just one spot ahead of the Vekoma SLC collective ranking (And hence, Lethal Weapon). Cyclone came in at 329th. Tower of Terror came in at 217th. Surfrider (As part of the Intamin halfpipe collective ranking) came in at 197th Tower of Terror got Jet Rescue only had two riders this year, so it couldn't even be given a winning percentage.

Stage 3 is go go go
The Green Room is 20m high, which is perfect really: http://www.whitewaterwest.com/template/pdf...ed-Slides_9.pdf That collection of thrill slides is 19.3m high As for sharing the queue, well it happens already on Mach 5 at WnW, but the bonus here is that you wont have to deal with those people carrying huge rafts up the stairs since they have the conveyors.

Stage 3 is go go go
If I can be optomistic for a moment, perhaps the new attraction could just be a reworking of the aqualoop plans...If an aqualoop was planned for a certain place in the park using an existing tower, then something like a freefall slide, turbo tunnel, probowl etc should fit in the same footprint without too many dramas. My bet is that they might just scramble for one of these alternatives.

WnW 2010: Aqua Loop, Flowrider, Zipline, Skycoaster
I think the visual impact of the loops is the reason they decided to put them up the front, no other explanation for the expense of removing existing attractions. Obviously it would have been a breeze to just plop them down further out the back, but I think it will do great things for the park to have some iconic 'woahh, look at that!" type things people can spot on the way past. Agreed that the looping slides can look a bit fugly (Though I'd say it has more to do with that pooey yellow colour on the ones we have seen to date har har) Hopefully they'll paint the supports rather than leaving them as galvanised steel. Though twister and speed-coaster would be 'thrill attractions' (And certainly the old speedslide too). If they were building this in Buccaneer Bay then I'd see your point. While I'm here, if anybody wants to see how fast you will go on this thing, check out this vid taken with the escape hatch open:
