  1. Perhaps the most interesting thing is, for those living in Perth, its only 200 km further to Singapore than it is to the Gold Coast. Considering a Marine Life Park, and a Water Park are also planned, for West Australians at least, there is a very viable alternative to the GC parks if you were wanting to partake in similar activites. Considering how much Perth is booming, if they aren't doing a big marketing push there something is wrong.
  2. I know this isn't the freshest news, but I felt it deserved a topic given its probably fairly interesting to people on here since it isn't terribly far away from some parts of Australia. But who here is looking forward to Universal Studios Singapore? Already I was pretty happy about it, considering it is putting an Amazing Adventures of Spiderman clone within a few hours of home, but I have discovered a snippet from here And that seems to be backed up on this page: http://www.jobsdb.com.sg/Singapore/info_to...ourism_Boom.htm Is that not the coolest sounding upcoming coaster? I'm sure some of you already know of my penchant for Dueling Dragons, but the idea of two different coaster types just takes it to another level! If I wasn't already excited, I am now. Also coming to the park are a few of the other better universal attractions, such as Jurassic Park and Revenge of the Mummy. Who here is planning on a trip there anyway? Tiger Airways and Jet Maggot already fly there pretty cheaply, and I can imagine once the park opens we will see an explosion in package deals (much like what is available to Hong Kong Disneyland) 18 months cant pass fast enough
  3. ^I think on really quiet parts of the day they should make it a policy to run the ride at a set interval (Say on the hour, at 20 past, and at 20 to), even if only one passenger wishes to ride, just so people can be certain on when to ride, and to avoid a situation where guests are forced to stand out the front and spruik the ride. Fair enough they want to avoid doing a stream of cycles all day with only a couple on board each time as people trickle through the entrance, but at the same time they have a responsibility too to ensure guests are getting what they paid for out of their day, and make it easy for them...I know I'd be embarrassed if I had to stand out the front and ask strangers to go on. At least a minimum set inverval would allow them to budget for a certain number of cycles. Put it this way, this would be the sort of thing I would kick up a stink about at guest relations.
  4. It's a miracle Backdraft didn't sustain any damage.
  5. It'd be 12, since that's how many was shown on the concept art, and also that's how many arms Zamperla Kite Flyers come with: Fair Use
  6. The thing I have wondered about with something like that is whether they could actually get the rights to open one. From what I can see, I'd thought flowriders were sold more like a franchise, and hence DW might own exclusive rights to the technology and operation of one in its market. (At one point, I remember reading one was planned for Kalgoorie, so I don't think DW would have exclusive rights for all of Australia)
  7. In what respect?
  8. I mean that they don't have all the rides going at once. For example for an hour they would have the Green Room open, but have the Hydrocoaster closed, then for the next hour have Hydrocoaster open and Green Room closed, and so forth all day. Hence they are running in rotation (rotating roster) It is a common practice at some parks on quiet days, it means you only need half staffing, and reduced running costs.
  9. See, I was heading down to SW one afternoon on a day with somewhat crappy weather, and I was honestly wondering whether WWW was actually closed when I drove past (a number of slides didn't seem to have water running down them, and I couldn't see anyone climbing stairs. Were they running the rides in rotation with each other because of the low crowds?

^Bingo, I mean everyone tries their best here, and we help where we can, but if people don't have it, then they don't have it. If you are that desparate, just visit the park and take your camera! You're location is listed as the GC (Australaia???) so there is no reason why you couldn't do that.
  11. Just a couple of questions: -What is happening with the pages that show all of a users conten, because it is still a situation where clicking a contributors name just goes 404. -Is there any way to make it so that in a rides database entry, it shows what themed land the ride is in. Its cool how it shows other rides in the themed land, but it would be slightly more intuitive/meaningful if the ride you were looking at was listed too (so its like a full set), it would also improve the situation when there is only one ride in a themed area, and all you get is a blank box
  12. ^Well obviously nobody does since they would have posted one (More to the point, they probably would have posted it the day they filmed one and started a topic on it ). Pestering people won't make one magically available. I mean it has been established it is pretty rare for it to happen, and on top of that what are the odds somebody was filming the thing at the time, or quick enough to get their camera out?
  13. See that was the biggest frustration for me, I never discovered that Spiderman had a SRQ till after I got home. I was in a position where I had 30 minutes till closing, and I still hadn't reridden Spiderman or Hulk, so I had to pick one, but I could have done both if I had known. It could have been possibleit was closed off at the time, but arrgh all I had to show for my standby wait was some photos of the theming in the queue.

^There are a few good pics here: http://www.fxillusions.com.au/gallery.html
  15. ^You have to remember that parks need to have the space needed for the really busy days. If you weren't visiting in peak season then that answers your question. Also, a number of rides at IOA have quite high capacity, using DD as an example, it can, during 6 train operation move 3000 riders per hour. I'ts queue is reportedly about 1km long, and I'm estimating it would fit about 2 people per meter of queue space, so even with a queue that massive, its still only going to fit 40 minutes worth of people. Even the really lengthy indoor Spiderman queue fits only 30 minutes worth of people (I joined it when the whole building was full)
  16. Yeah, I'm more of an Ice fan myself, pretty much because it has that zero g roll, but also that cool overbanked turn at the start and the cobra roll against the castle wall. It also didn't repeat elements like fire did. Though, I didn't feel that the floater hill on fire killed the pacing too much, I was too busy looking out for the 'near miss' (Just on that, when did you go to IOA Joz? I remeber you once did some nice reports on DL and AT way back, but I never knew you had been over to FL)
  17. Im just interested, but on Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure, which side do people prefer and why. Is it Fire (Pyrock) or Ice (Blizrock)?
  18. Also, if you are flexible with dates, then just try visiting in peak season and you can be assured virtually everything will be open.
  19. It comes down to the type of animal really, so I would imagine some logic would be used in their placement. I mean, the people behind this would have to have more idea than someone who is going to clutch at anything that is possibly negative to say because they just don't like the idea of this project in general. Clearly animals like giraffes wouldn't cope well being close to rides, but crocodiles on the other hand....
  20. See, just on that, I was at SW, and I discovered that I couldn't hear corkscrew from Dolphin Cove, which is a distance of about 200m, and that is a largish coaster with seemingly no noise mitigation measures. I mean if that B&M dive machine comes to be I can assume they would sand fill the track.
  21. If anyone was interested in seeing bits and pieces of the promo reel, you can get it from this 7.30 Report report. Interesting how it makes direct reference to AK and BGA, its very clear they emulating them. http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2007/s2233066.htm
  22. Morning (sic) meaning mourning. In other words, he is saying that most of us would have accepted the fact its gone and not coming back.
  23. But it would have taken less effort to type the single word 'neutered' in the search bar in the top corner of your web browser than it would have to type out a whole question in a post and wait for a response
  24. What, can't you use a dictionary or google or something? I'm all for discussion on here, don't get me wrong, but the number of dead simple questions that get asked on here and could be answered in seconds amazes me. It's the age of technology, people!
  25. Mate, they'll do something. If they are throwing down tens of millions then I am sure they would have considered whether the site in question would meet their needs. I did some quick and rough measurements with Google Earth At present, Aussie World has 10,000 sq m of car park and Wet n Wild has 25,000 sq m Neither measurement includes overflows. I doubt this park would get close to WnWs attendance, so it would really only be a small amount of expansion needed parking wise.
