  1. They're locked out and have Fluro green straps so the operator doesnt even have to touch them.
  2. No they are random seats in different locations in each train, sometimes single seats sometimes two in a pair.
  3. Ok Paddlesteamer and Bushranger show i should clarify, but yeah I would always go for a ride and get some photos. From my recollection it was still well ridden right to the end.
  4. I can get a bit of what both sides are saying. OK yeah DW didn't really have its mickey mouse. But certainly, some stuff like the paddlesteamer should never have been removed. You can definitley switch out and modernise some attractions, but you probably should keep a few classics around (Even if they are stupid) because a bit of intergenerational nostalgia is an important part of any theme parks brand, remember a lot of what theme parks are selling is warm fuzzy feelings and memories. Like at Disney, Autopia and Jungle Cruise are the biggest attractions in the park and are kinda lame compared to indy or space mountain, but they would be stupid if they got rid of either
  5. What does separated seating do/prevent?
  6. Can they rip off the rest of the weathered foam theming while they are at it?
  7. What's going on with DCR. 7 seats out of use on each train including the backwards ones on both. I can accept supply chain delays preventing them being put into use. But what is crazy is that they only have 17 seats to check on each train and they are still stacking trains on the brake run! A crew with like a week and a bit experience on Steel Taipan are loading quicker.
  8. La Nina theme, then just do an attractive rainforest.
  9. Yeah I like the idea of a Bluey dark ride and a shoot the chutes ride. Shoot the chutes I love because they are instagrammable. Big spray of water and then non riders can stand on the bridge and get soaked which creates a lot of funny videos. The big splash is what makes the ride iconic. Storm coaster could have had this but because of its stupid layout one of the best features is hidden (and indeed the fact its a water coaster, to bystanders it just looks like a normal coaster with 8 person cars) Flats I don't really care about, yeah they have less than they did previously, but IMO the park had too many so it's not super urgent. One thing I think will make a difference is that the village parks will tend to just do about one ride per year across all the parks. Eg they'll finish New atlantis, but WnW will get nothing, and then MW will get its arkham replacement and the other parks will get nothing. (Aside from low cost things like new 3d shows or exhibits) Whereas if DW build one ride per year for the next 3 or 4 years, that'll really build up the park and renew interest.
  10. I thought it was LIMs that needed it? Since you have rides like Surfrider without kicker wheels.
  11. -Queue and Theming. Typical modern Australian architecture, with hints to the taipan, from the obvious skeleton themed queue, to patterns of scales. The paths around the ride allow for plenty of great places to view the ride. Landscaping looks nice around the walkways, it will be good to see it in about 3 years time when it is really lush. The station is well setup, with a very generous sorting area, with dots on the ground for three groups of riders to be batched. The station gates know which train is in the station and won't open row 10 if the spinning equipped train is parked. I think it needs some dramatic music in the station like the original Blue Fire, to give more buildup: -Launch. As others have said it's not a ballistic launch like Supemrna, just gradual acceleration, but most of the speed seems to be added on the 2nd launch, with the 3rd adding the last bit. on The backwards launch you spend a lot of time coasting along the launch track and then suddenly get caught by the LSMs, which makes for a good suprise. In the back seats the first roll back feels kind of weird because you feel the train decelerating before you even properly on to the curve. -Reverse spiral. Really good! A worthwhile addition, because it curves up quite tightly (enough to move your harness down a little bit) and then the Gs are sustained a bit due to the curve, before tapering off into floater. Again good postives on the way down. -Main layout. I've always thought the first horseshoe is a bit slow on the original version. A quick moment of darkness as it goes through the tunnel. The loop is strong and maintains the Gs right through the top. The turnaround to the MCBR has a bit of kick. If you sit in the back there is ejector coming off the MCBR. the corkscrews are better than I remember on Blue Fire, they actually feel like little zero g rolls, with a good float and twist at the top. The rock arch is quite cool and there is a definite woosh as you go through. Good pop of ejector on the hill through the loop. But of course it's the final roll which is the highlight, attempting to dunk you out of the train at the midpoint. -Tailwhip OK this is wild and probably a 'one and done' for many people, since it would probably make you feel unwell if you marathoned (But backwards on DCR does too!) . Try to get an unbalanced ride with someone with a different weight to you. It can spin moderately but it's not as fast as some of the family spinning coasters I've been on. Highlights included going up the spike facing forwards towards the sky, coing around the loop sideways, so you would see the horizon rotate in front of you. On the final roll the car managed to do a full spin, so it was like being an astronaut tumbling in space. It is worth the $25 upcharge at least once. -Conclusion Best ride at DW and neck and neck with DCR. It's fast, it's smooth, its got heaps of variety, it's well paced and seems to have appeal for re-riders. One of the best multi loopers in the world in fact.
  12. Yes, ST only has LSMs on 1/3 of the track compared to the originals.
  13. Here are my photos of it: https://www.parkz.com.au/search/photos/location/steel-taipan
  14. I checked this out on Saturday morning. Pics here: https://www.parkz.com.au/search/photos/location/wetnwild-gold-coast The Area All clean and modern looking. Resort style meets modern local pool I guess. The entrance signs in particular look nice, with bold 3D logos on white battens. Kaboom I did this one first, and still had a bit of a wait. The blue side was intermittently shutting down due to teething problems, so it was maybe running at 60% capacity. It seemed they would get 3 or so dispatches before it would fault and need restarting. The slide is great, was suprised by the abruptness of the drops, but you lose a bit of speed towards the top of the blaster sections. The Blasters are well tuned, so you dont get the "fire hose in the back" sensation, the water seems to stick to the slide surface. The whole turnaround part is good you pick up speed in the tailspin section, and the following turns and helices are enclosed and pitch black. The final helix is actually very transparent, and you can see through it easily. I think being a larger diameter tunnel and lack of water in the face helps compared to Aqualoop (Which you cant really see well out of) The line moved quite slow, so I think dreams of 30 second dispatches are exactly that. The staff members have fall arrest thingys attached to an overhead cable on the start platform, since it would be fairly easy to fall down into the slide. The funny thing is guests are of course unprotected. You board at deck level onto the raft sitting on the conveyor belt, so it was funny seeing staff freak out when the front passenger went to sit down but got a bit close to the front. I think eventually they'll install gates like on River Rapids to remove this risk. Double Barrel Now, the absolute silly thing I cannot fathom is that both rides have a shared queue, so if you are wanting to just do the double barrel presumably you have to line up with everyone else waiting for Kaboom. Now in practice that doesn't happen because the greeter asks you what you want to ride, and then sends you down the Fast Track queue. But whhhhhhy even have to do that? Why not have a 3rd queue just for Double Barrel riders and avoid any confusion. All this brand queue railing that might have to be changed. The slide is as gentle as you would expect, but it actually seemed popular with parents with younger kids, and it was using all its rafts, so it's doing its job of adding capacity. Boarding is a bit awkward. The queue finishes at the opposite end of the platform, the operator puts the raft into the start tub for you. the start tub is both narrow and with high edges, so its squeezy to get in. As for the slide, pretty gentle, just a sense of coming into land and gradually descending. The most forceful part is the splashdown. Super Ripper Yayyyy this one is the best. Capacity is too low for demand, (And the same thing happens over at River Rapids) WnW needs more classic body slides IMO. I had a heap of sunscreen on, which turned a bit greasy when wet, which meant sliding was ridiculously fast. The great thing was the turns were smooth, as were the joints, so no back pain, nor any fear of being thrown around violently on the turns, so you could really blitz it on the way down. The rainbow colour daylight rings on the enclosed section looked nice and crisp. I'd happily go on this over and over on a quiet day. General Notes Every ride has scales at the bottom and top with a red and green light system. The old changerooms have had a tart up match the style of the new area. There is artificial turf but its literally hotter than the concrete, went to walk on it because i thought the path was too hot but quickly noped out. The staircases are pretty wide for Kaboom which is nice. None of the problems WnW Sydney had. I thought it was funny that they have wrapped the start of Super Ripper in padding, because the staircase passes closely underneath, so it is plausible that guests would have scraped their rafts on it if carried too high. Minor bugbear, but at the bottom of the staircases, the overhead signs are generic text instead of using the ride logos. Why? Overall, good additions that will keep WnW ticking along, with literally something for everyone.
  15. @Im Hungry @TomiJ get the honorary second place or getting the soft opening date
  16. Supertubes has a 40 second ride time. Breakers at Raging Waters has a 20 second ride time. Master Blasters can run with blocks but im not sure how conservatively they will run it. So a 40 second dispatch interval = 90 dispatches per hour. 90*4= 360 per hour. if they can dispatch before the other one reaches the end, say every 30 seconds, then they'll get 480 per hour.
  17. Will Kaboom do that poorly capacity wise? 4 people per dispatch, and it will be a rather fast ride...
  18. Why would they not serve Tiger beer???
  19. Yes, I noticed a few days ago they had changed the wording from 9 to 8, and it seemed like a red flag. Ah well, Big Dipper Jan 2022 I hope!
  20. The old Buzzsaw building feels like it should be a microbrewery or something.
  21. I really wanted them to go under one of the corkscrews though.
  22. It really is White Christmas
  23. It depends how you define it. They really should be separate terminology for something with multiple passes like Steel Taipan, versus something with multiple launch segments. This ride is taller and faster than Jet Rescue so LPS is being truthful.
  24. Wait did I just do a mic drop a week ago? @Brad2912didn't have anything to say on the above.
