Dreamworld February Update 2020
I sought out the one at the Stuttgart city hall. It was very seamless and quick, though no way its wheelchair accessible due to the small window of time you have to step into the box.

Trip Report: Lagunasia Japan
Lagunasia is a small, but well-ish themed* park located in Gamagori. https://www.parkz.com.au/parks/JP/Gamagori/Lagunasia/ It’s “on the way” to Nagoya/Kyoto/Osaka. You can catch an all stops Shinkansen to Toyohashi, then switch to a local train to Gamagori, where shuttle buses run from the station to the park every 30 mins. Once you are done at Lagunasia, you can jump back on the bus to the station, then train to Nagoya and be there in an hour. First things first, would I bother making an effort for this place or recommend it as must do? Probably not. The place isn’t “bad” per se, but it’s definitely past its prime. It would have looked great when it opened, but its weathered now, and has a shitload of tacky food stands and temp attractions / overlays that just clash and ruin the look of the park. There are only a small number of attractions, which are ok, but you’ll be done in a couple of hours easy, and to be honest, if you are headed to Disney etc, then the dark rides here wont offer you much, and only 1 out of 3 of the coasters was really enjoyable. Past trip reports were quite glowing, and previously they had an Indiana Jones style multi motion dark ride (Which got replaced by a coaster) which would have been great, but yeah its def a has-been place now. You can download a discount voucher from the English website and show your passport. First impresions are good. A friendly staff member took my photo at the entrance. But it just seems a bit hodge podge, with random photo ops, attraction overlays, temp food stands, and the lights and fountains set up in the pools. As for the rides. Stellar Coaster Basically a spicy roller skater. Pirates Blast There used to be an Indiana Jones style EMV dark ride in here, and it's a tragedy this was removed, since they are so rare and special, and I'm obsessed with them. They retrofitted a coaster through the same scenes, and it felt a lot like the first half of scooby in terms of pacing and intensity. Smallish drops and multiple short lifts through a temple environment that looked pretty good. Towards the end is a big drop below ground level in front of a glass window with the ride name written on it, a few more outdoor turns, and then the ride is over. The ride has VR, with some awful additional theming to promote this, but of course i did it no goggles so i could see the theming. Aqua Wind Gerstlauer boblsed coaster, so its like a better version of a wild mouse. You can tell from the pics what to expect. I did think it was lacking bunny hops compared to other ones of these Ive done. At one point you pass through a building, which was just a big blacked out shed inside with a scale model glowing planet type thing in the middle. Fire Fire Next This one is a suspended dark ride like peter pan, except it went up and down some very steep hills so you'd move up several meters to scenes on the upper level then back down again, etc etc. The lighting was cool, and the targets looked like devil possesed pokemon. Magic Powder Everyone bangs on about this ride, and it's cute, but lets be honest, if you have ridden "its a small world" you don't need to go out of your way to see this. The queue is well themed, like a toy factory. There was a great bit of theming where toys went into a machine where magic powder was applied, and through the use of peppers ghost and a screen, the toys would come to life. The ride is a giant turntable, and you sit in rotating cans, and move past a few scenes. The story goes the magic powder is stolen so everyone is sad because they cant make toys. The elves in the toy factory travel to various locales (town, forest, under the sea etc) to find the thief. From memory the final encounter with the cartoon villain is very silly (he looked like a cross between Bart Simpson and Sonic the hedgehog) and vanishing magic powder is used to banish him. Of course in the final scene everyone is celebrating that the toy factory is working again. Legend of Labyrinth I felt Bermuda vibes on this one, as you pass through themed caves. At one point is a lift hill, turntable, and backwards drop with a camel hump. The climax comes with a dragon animatronic, and then you seemingly pass into the "afterlife" in the next scene, which is filled with thousands of dots of white light. The final drop is outdoors, and a bit of a soaker. Parallel Walk A cycle monorai I did to get a few photos over the park. As for the rest of the place.... So to sum up, if you are genuinley interested, go, but I wouldn't bother structuring your trip around a visit to this place.

Dreamworld February Update 2020
If you were building it today you'd just do a lift and stairs. But at present, its a waste of money to reconfigure the queue on such an old ride.

Another one bites the dust: Log Ride joins Dreamworld's long list of recently closed rides
Wait, I thought SV replaced the Cinema??!

Dreamworld VS Movieworld

Rocky Hollow Log Ride officially closed
I just came here to say that the peak and off peak pricing at Disney and universal tends to align with road closures by default, because they tend to have everything open on peak days

Rocky Hollow Log Ride officially closed
Its almost like, the people who enjoyed the log ride might not necessarily be into the coaster.

Dreamworld February Update 2020
Replacing a ramp with a ramp?

Rocky Hollow Log Ride officially closed
Hey mate why do you rely on hyperbole so much? You said people are screeching. Next you said people expect 6 rides in place of one. Also, who was screaming for every ride to be closed? It was only kujotess on here who did that, and they were just a troll anyway and left ages ago Help me out here? Are you saying parkz forum members don't know about the coaster, or that parkz members think that 6 rides need to replace 1 or what. Can you quote the members saying this? Generally speaking, when I have observed theme park forums, people tend to expect 1 replacement for each ride closed so the ride total at least remains steady MW seems to have done that, but SW and WNW have certainly copped flack for closing stuff down without replacing most of it.

Rocky Hollow Log Ride officially closed
Hi Jdude I think the thrust of it is that TOT, Thunder River, Wipeout and Log Ride have all gone and so far only 2 will replace 4 Im cool with the coaster replacing tot as a thrill and im cool with SV replacing Thunder River as a broad family attraction... But wipeout and the log ride are a couple of classics and I guess people want replacements for those too. Out of interest? What opinion do you consider screeching?

New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
Looking at that plan, I'd do the northern end as future expansion of Back of House, and the southern end as a WWW expansion area.

New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
What's the obsession with spot the car thats literally shit for anyone over the age of 5. I’d still support putting it at the old TOT site. Even though its lower, at least the stuff of relevance is closer to the viewer. Think about how Fuji Q is, the park slopes downwards. If you put the wheel at the top of the park yeah its higher, but then you wouldn’t get shots like this:

- New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
I don't know how we went from "Buildings not matching" to "put a ferris wheel in there too". But open to suggestion. IDK i think Spotty and T🅱one are right, at least if you put it in the middle of the park, you get an interesting view on all sides. If its at the main entry, half the view would be over the entrance to the car park.- New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
AlexB can you show it as a box on nearmap, not just a line, so we get a truer sense of the impact on main street Leave that space as it is.- Japan: Tokyo Dome City / Hanayashiki
Both of these parks are small stops you can make when sightseeing around Tokyo. Both accessible via multiple rail lines. Tokyo Dome City https://www.parkz.com.au/parks/JP/Bunkyo_City/Tokyo_Dome_City/ Home to the famous Thunder Dolphin, a hypercoaster in the middle of a city. As far as the layout goes, the drops are impressive, but it is let down by a lack of airtime, and the ops are a bit sluggish, though they were running two trains at least. The weather was cold, so they have hot air blowers in the station aimed at the wheels to keep everything running warm. Basically you head up the cable lift, a decent first drop (I was 2nd row) , overbanked turn, then a bit of a speed hill on top the building where you get a tiny bit of air, then a good overbank and drop through a hole in the building, yet another overbank through the ferris wheel, another longer, more drawn out speed hill. Next you curve up onto the roof of the building and do a bit of a trick track....essentially a straight bit of track with a few banked kinks in it (up here they could have easily done some bunny hops to spice it up) . Finally there is a curved drop off the building into a set of brakes, so the train is still carrying heaps of speed at the end. It's absolutely worth a ride, but at the same time its B&M levels of hypercoaster excitement. I would have done the ferris wheel but the light was dissapearing fast so I wouldn't have been able to photograph much. Panic Coaster Back Daaan was a great suprise. I thought it was just a Gerstlauer family boomerang clone indoors, but it's not, its very unique. Imagine something like Firechaser Express where the station is a dead end with a switch track. But what makes this one different is there is no 2nd switch track partway through the layout to reverse the train (Like in firechaser where the factory explosion scene is) Instead the track feeds back into the switch track at the station, so you arrive back in the station facing backwards. So the ride starts off with projection onto the walls and floor of the station with a cartoony bomb bouncing around. It detonates and you are launched into a layout like this in darkness. When you get back into the station, more projection and another cartoon bomb, before you are launched out backwards into the course a 2nd time, but this time all colourful orbs light up the ride area and mirrors on the wall make it feel like a kaleidoscope. The backward launch of course means you are reversing into the station at the end, so everything is reset for the next group of riders. I was out of energy so i didn't go looking too hard to find the Dive shooting dark ride, I did a lap around and had a look at the dark ride area before calling it a night. Hanayashiki https://www.parkz.com.au/parks/JP/Taito_City/Hanayashiki_Amusement_Park/' This park is another small easy to visit one, and the reason to go is because it's the oldest park in Japan and hosts the oldest coaster in Japan. It's right in the heart of Asakusa, next to Senso Ji Shrine and Hozomon Gate and Nakamise Shopping Street, so you'll probably end up near it anyhow. It's also in walking distance of Skytree. Kicking myself I walked right past this without realising it was a small madhouse/haunted swing ride. The park really does feel like it was decorated by the old lady in the fibro house at the end of your street. It feels a bit like LPM, what with the coaster doing a lap around the park, and the abundance of Zamperla flats. Roller Coaster was fun, fairly brisk, it only does one lap around the park though, so not that long.- Current State of Sea World
@joz- Northam Aquatic Centre
@iwerks are you heading up to Northam soon?- Shipping containers in Dreamworld car park
MFW you know that parks can organise their own shipping anyway.- MACK Rides - New Concepts: The Rocking Boat & Power Loop
It looks like they put the e-motion coaster in water.- New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
What if you did a few gimmicks like turntables or coaster style drops? And then just a few key bits of theming, but otherwise just "bush" around the ride? I disagree that a refurb would be cheaper on such an old ride, when you can get a brand new one that is fully modern. If there is talk of removing it, then that would suggest money on a refurb is no longer cost effective, no?- New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
What immersive theming is on the log ride at present? - New Attraction for Dreamworld Suggestions
