Wet 'n' Wild Sydney Construction
I was working under the assumption that the largest one would be the one designed for surfing (To give surfers room to get a decent ride), and the smaller one would be for families, unless it was indicated otherwise and I've missed something?

Wet 'n' Wild Sydney Construction
I thought it was only the 2nd, smaller pool that had been cut?

I guess it's the consistency which makes the surfable pools popular.

Yeah, but they've never used any concrete statues on this project, have they? I'm not a tard.

Scenic World Trip Report 2013
That close up of the track doesn't make it look very substantial anyway...Thin running rails and crimped welds...Looks about as strong as set of monkey bars: Anyway Jobe, I reckon you should submit that bit of crappily joined track to rcdb...It deserves to be one of those images that becomes famous amoungst the enthusiast community for its hilarity.

But why were you talking about concrete statues?

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
Umm, you did: "And concrete statues have to be sealed on site" And " that's most likely a prop for the launch event being moved into place. It looks very diffrent to the ones being used in the outdoor section of the ride" In other words, you were saying they were using hollow props for the launch event, but concrete ones on the outdoor section of the ride and that they look different (No they don't look different actually)

Proves me right don't you mean, you didn't go back and edit your posts until I made mine, so obvs you needed a little extra help on this one. Why were you talking about concrete statues in the first place? How is that relevant at all?

Wet 'n' Wild Sydney Construction
Perhaps it's just my personal bias showing through (I find wave pools underwhelming and the least unique aspect of a water park) I'm also questioning what would be more marketable for a new park...A 2nd pool, or a boost to the opening variety of slides. With respect to people eating capacity, I'd be curious as to what nets you more in terms of construction cost/staffing....$10,000,000 worth of wave pool, or $10,000,000 worth of water slides (Or heck, $10,000,000 worth of longer lazy river, with more entry/exit points)

Ok for starters thats not a launch event tent, that's one they've had set up as a work area for touching stuff up, theming bins etc (And why on earth would they have a launch event tent set up weeks in advance ? Secondly, there's a crapload of statues already set up in the ride area on concrete footings. If you recall from the Today Tonight story, a firm from the Phillipines was doing all the theming sculpting. They aren't just stuff for a launch event. Finally, theme park theming is typically made out of carved foam (Eg the Gargoyles in Scooby Doo are perhaps the most comparable example), not solid concrete. Look at the guys carrying this piece. Notice how the inside is just hollow.

Is that your final answer, locked in RWC ?

^In some ways I'm kinda happy the 2nd pool didn't eventuate...Would rather the money be spent on more waterslides.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
And to be fair, if they do an indoor kids ride, then that opens the door to demolish Speedys Tijuana Taxis, which is a nice big strip of land for a few new kids rides.

Fright Night 2013
I just think its odd you're seemingly fine going to fright nights, but a helicopter and car with some plastic dummies on it in, just sitting there in broad daylight (that youd be able to see from a decent walking distance away on approach) "scared the living shit" out of you.

Fright Night 2013
I find that very difficult to believe.

Cool, so after the coaster section you are riding a boat within a boat.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
By default, Google Maps on a browser shows the highest res image available. If you use the Google Earth software you can see newer images by adjusting the time slider, but often the quality isn't as good.

Nah, its an unrelated project. I'm not sure if it was always planned, or wether a developer decided to capitalise on the new waterpark.

2 new permanent rides installed at Wonderland docklands
On the contrary, I'd say "all theme parks are amusement parks, but not all amusement parks are theme parks". But other factors disqualify LPM/LPS..the rides basically have no proper theming or storyline, and there's no coherence running through the park....What is the enterprise themed to? How does Pharoas curse relate to Street Legal Dodgems? What was metropolis all about?

2 new permanent rides installed at Wonderland docklands
Funnel web at Jamberoo, "worlds longest water slide," New coaster at Adventure world is "100m high" are a couple I can think of. Nah Luna Park is an amusement park, not a theme park. Remember this is a theme park forum, so you'd expect people on here would use more specific terminology and know the difference. Doesn't matter what the general public perception is, because it's not like they have particularly detailed knowledge, or could describe the difference between other seemingly similar things, like a suspended coaster and an inverted coaster. So aren't heaps of LPM and LPSs rides just carnie rides set up on blocks that can be added and removed from the park at will? And it's not like a theme parks go and hire out carine rides for the school holidays and plonk them down, but the Luna Parks certainly do. Ah, but then you are moving into the realm of a "themed attraction", which is something different again.

2 new permanent rides installed at Wonderland docklands
In addition to the ones in Melbourne and New York there seems to be one doing the European travelling circuit: I reckon Jobe is right, it'd just be some generic default theme that Zamperla would offer, and it's a relativley new model, but as time goes on I can imagine them being a popular choice with buyers everywhere because it looks non threatening as a family ride, and a parachute is a logical theme to convey that... Just the same as heaps of parks with beach/seaside themed kids areas put in Rockin' Tugs because they can just order one off the shelf and it fits right in. Can you give up already?

Royal Melbourne Show 2013
One thing I'm curious to know, but is the Worm coaster that appears at the Royal Show different to the Worm Coaster at Wonderland Fun Park...In other words, does Australia have two wacky worms, or just one?
