I've updated the OP with a few more updates and the stuff other people had posted. Also added notes where the place has something out of the ordinary or interesting about it.
  2. WnW Sydney is getting a LatiTube, which is an Australian made version of a flowrider: See the latest news http://www.latitube.com/
  3. My bad, for some reason I thought the posts had been moved across already.
  4. No, not for minor stuff like that. Reporting is more for when very inappropriate posts are made.
  5. The Australian Water Slide Database..... So something I have been thinking of (Ok maybe I'm just killing some spare time in my midyear break )...Anyone reckon it would be possible to make a "water slide database" of all the public waterslides in Australia? I guess my main rules for qualifying would be. -Can't be at a hotel or something like that. -Has to be of a substantial size, so a slippery dip or one of those silly little slides with one turn wouldn't count (Not this for example http://goo.gl/maps/xZu3C ) A few I've found on Google Maps..... 6. Cool, but you can take screenshots within the game, you dont need to take a photo of your computer screen.
  7. ^I think those glass doors stuck down in one corner give me the vibe of the sort of unit you see in an industrial estate. The new attraction needs to be themed around an automotive transmission spare parts shop or a air conditioner repairer or a cabinietmaker orsomething
  8. I think its just the old building skin, stripped of the AVPX branding.
  9. Why do you think that?
  10. Penguin Encounter is where the sharp U turn of the water section would have been, by the looks of those plans. I reckon the location they have chosen is better...It's replaced an aging ride, and is right with all the other rides, and not a car park coaster, plus we've gotten an indoor section in this version, which the version at the front of the park appears not to have.
  11. It appears this pic shows a render of both the Constrictor and the AquaSphere: PS check out the video on this page, It shows how they run a computer simulation on how a raft will behave: http://www.whitewaterwest.com/aquasphere.html#!prettyPhoto My thoughts: We have cones: Cylinders: Spheres: What next?.............
  12. So awesome that Busch Gardens Tampa is finally getting a ride named after a bird of prey, where you plunge towards the ground face first at 90 degrees
  13. You could also crop the photo around the plaque.
  14. Im guessing yellow and green are the run up section prior to the funnel on the Tornado and the red and orange belong to the Tantrum Alley. PS Tantrum Alley <3 <3 <3 Melbourne based members should all make an effort to go ride the one at Watermarc Banyule. ..Its awesome.
  15. Because its not as if the size of the ride can be quickly measured on Google Earth or Google Maps is it?
  16. 90% sure those things in the background are bits of a Twist n Spash for delivery to another theme park: http://www.mack-rides.com/en/products/spin-rides/twist-n-splash/sr-ts-info/sr-ts-info.html
  17. You can see the changes here:Don't think it has much to do with the park though.
  18. Not really. The first one of these built was Omaka Rocker, and they found they had to put in speed bumps on the leadup to each funnel because a single rider has a higher center of gravity compared to 4 people spread wide on a cloverleaf, so people were regularly flipping over. You can see the white coloured speedbumps that they sculpted on here: In newer versions I guess they have done away with having it enter the funnel too high and just flattened down the entry. It's really a question of scale. A big curve 18m in diameter like a typical tornado isn't going to have that tightness that could cause rafts to tip, but a the same time the scale is big enough that you get more than 0.001 sec of airtime like the smaller ones. At the end of the day, this is always gonna be the better ride experience:
  19. The one I rode in Singapore at Wild Wild Wet also let you go by yourself. I guess then the trade-off is a much poorer ride experience. The single rider 'topsy turvy' Tornado type slides at Aquatica were very tame and had zero airtime compared to the full sized version: You just don't have the momentum and speed like the full size version, and you can't really scale up a single rider version due to the risk of rafts flipping. http://www.parkz.com.au/photo/US/Orlando/Aquatica/1491-Omaka_Rocka/2,2,5460-Omaka_Rocka_Whanau_Way.html They make one size up for the single rider version (Again, one in Singapore lol, at the new Adventure Cove park), and this pov just shows you how little they do for the rider: Personally, I reckon Jamberoo has it right with their Tornado. A nice big slide, with a raft conveyor and "footprints" on the ground at the boarding point so people can be grouped. Is there really a saving though? I mean on Constrictor at WnW you have to wait for rafts, and can be held up by slow kids walking up the hill, but ultimately the capacity is determined by how quickly the rafts get sent out from the top of the tower so all slow kids do is delay the inevitable. (On any of these slides, be it Tornado, Kamikaze, Constrictor there is always going to be a 2nd queue at the top of the tower all day)
  20. That curved frame is a boomerango, but there will also be a constrictor like wnw Phoenix, a rattler, and quad master blaster.
  21. Nope, I'd say the other guy, who has worked his entire career in the field in a hands on manner, to this day, would be right
  22. All you've done is make yourself look stupid.
  23. The ride layout is certainly diagramatic...At the top right how on earth does it have such tight turns after the immelmann?
  24. I think the area with pipes is just general pathways and seating areas?
  25. Here you go...3rd of May. Uploaded to imigur because the site uploader seems to be non functional at the moment: http://i.imgur.com/qB1jVed.jpg
