  1. On River Quest, i believe the drop element was ditched because it was capable of ejecting people from the boat.
  2. Another gem: http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/602740_10151519513746177_1231579944_n.jpg
  3. ^But why not maxmise the speed for everyone? Just because some people load slow doesn't mean you shouldn't take advantage of the ones who can load quicker. On average, if say only 2 out of 10 people load slow, then things are still quick in the scheme of things. WnWs has the shortest lead up on Tornados, and a raft can be sent as soon as it is loaded generally, due to how quickly the ride clears.
  4. ^Ideally you wouldn't send a raft until it had cleared the funnel. Which gets me thinking. They could have had higher capacity on this thing if they had used the hillside, and switched it so there was a short lead up to the funnel, but have the long snaky section at the end. It would mean you wouldn't have to wait as long for the rafts to reach the funnel in the first place. I'm planning on visiting next week too. Presumably you go for the Bobsleds first and ride them a bunch of times whilst everyone else is getting lockers/going on the slides?
  5. Anyone else see this vid of what happens when two rafts go down the funnel at once?
  6. ^Normally people post pics on a public page (Or in forum topics!!!!). These days most people have all their info and pics unviewable to strangers, so no looking at their galleries.
  7. They're there, you just have to trawl through a strangers mobile uploads gallery to see them.
  8. I dont mind fast track systems if they have such small distribution at a high price that you don't notice their impact. Universal Hollywood is a good example of that...I mean if you want to pay a ridiculous amount to skip some lines, be my guest, but when the park only has a handful of rides you ever have to queue for anyway, and they are high capacity, it doesn't bother me. At WnW I'd prefer Constrictor not to be on FastTrak...the capaciy isn't high enough, and the ride is in its maiden season so should be as 'available' as possible....Even SFMM were smart enough to Put Terminator, Green Lantern, X2 (And presumably YOLO coaster) on the platinum flash pass so they don't just get slammed by every man and his dog using a standard flash pass.
  9. I disagree. I think water play structures are one of the best waterpark attractions out there, and for the constrained site at glenelg represents the best you could do. I just reckon water play structures are a really safe option, crowd pleasing, visually appealing, high capacity and quite marketable. You could literally buy one, put a fence around it and ticket booth, and basically have an instant water park to then work off.
  10. Been to Orlando? Granted the place doesn't have any beaches....
  11. They all are water coasters today, barring Scooby Doo.
  12. Do the walls have to be diagonal?
  13. I reckon it would be nice if you did a European town square type area (Rather than a main street) as the entrance area, with different areas branching off from laneways and archways out of the square.
  14. Well I disagree, and counted about 3 there, a couple swimming round together in the front right lagoon plus one sitting on the steps at the back near the feeding area. NZ fur seals only, no Australian or Californian Sea Lions at present. 3 or 4, it's certainly not yet close to the population of 20 mooted when the exhibit was announced: http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2012/08/22/437108_gold-coast-theme-parks.html which kinda goes along with my prediction that we'll see the main marketing push when they've all been happily settled in and the lagoons are busy with seals.
  15. ^To be fair, there are plenty of pics of real roller coasters out there to go off if you want to see how to make a realistic one. Just don't do stuff like having a massive drop going into a tiny turn and stuff like that. It should just look a whole lot "smoother".
  16. ^Haha, I've seen that happen to one of the douchebag kids that inhabit the park, but stuck the opposite way, with feet not touching the ground. They had to cry out to the ride op to "rescue" them and unlock the row so they could lower it down again.
  17. What's your point? That still equates to like one seal per lagoon, so obviously its not at full capacity yet.
  18. Then again, even scooby has the requirement for the harness to be closed to a certain degree (A white light on the panel i recall that lights up when all harnesses are ok)
  19. The leg grabs shut simultaneously as you pull down the harness right so it wouldn't impact on the boarding time? With flyers as far as I know the system just ensures its closed "enough", and the dispatcher just has to look out for any problematic seats where its not closed enough. It never seemed much different to loading inverts. On Riddlers I saw it where people accidentally let the harness rise to high and had to get their row unlocked and reset...The two stage process seemed quite cumbersome at times...funny to watch though
  20. ^Aren't B&M flyers and inverted coasters exactly the same though? Sit down and close the OTSR. The only difference is the operator has to make the seats lift into the flying position (as opposed to making the floor drop on an invert/slc) Vekoma flyers would be another story though.
  21. See that's the danger with em'. You can get great rides on Riddlers (And I DO like stand ups), but you have to put all your weight on the height adjustable part to keep it from nut crushing, and in part it relies on the less attentive SFMM employees letting you get away with the bicycle seat lower than what it should be. Plus the complexity of the loading process I'm not sure would do too well at one of our parks lol.
  22. SFMM just got new lockers that are networked, so you can take your stuff between rides: Source: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=26782&start=28900
  23. ^How many were on display when you were at Seal Harbour?
