  1. Well basically....

So I'm not allowed to point out the ride it is actually a clone of, for the benefit of others? Eeek, looks a bit rough though, look at the turn out of the station!

The layout is more similar to Eejanaika.
  4. Fair enough if you aren't interested in visiting (Wonder what the Po's Kung Fu Garden expansion will involve though?) Just bugged me a bit earlier when people were saying the pass was bad on the basis the park hasn't bent over backwards for "loyal" customers (Which don't seem to be so loyal after all )
  5. My posts have been randomly coming up in html code, and when I try to use the in post editor, the text is in that "typewriter" code font rather than the normal forum font....Dunno what is causing it.
  6. Still don't get the hate. 3 theme parks for $99, with a $9 Mil darkride coming (Plus other minor stuff like Ice Age, Dino's at SW etc) is totally worth it....You did mention the prospect of a return visit...I'd surely come back in September for Justice League, especially since it would be kid friendly. With this or DW, why does it matter if they didn't make up some renewal offer to pander to existing holders? Are people driven by that, or by the end product (Getting to visit theme parks) $99 didn't even get you one annual pass for one park in the past. I mean, what do people realistically expect? How low can they go? The base price is $100, so if they were to take 25% off that, it would be $75, which would be less than a one day admission....Really? You think they would do that? ..... Which used to cost $300 (I thought it was a good buy at the time) Would people rather go back to that?
  7. How did I not discover this till now? There's a rather cool Toy Story Mania knock off at Phantasialand in Germany called Maus Au Chocolat. Basically mice have taken over a cake factory, but you cant poison them because that would ruin the food, so instead you shoot chocolate cream out of a piping bag by pulling on a drawstring (instead of whatever the things on Toy Story Mania are supposed to resemble). The trains are 3 cars of 4, rather than 2 cars of 4 too.
  8. $9 Mil all up is pretty darn generous actually. Consider scooby was $4 Mil more (Though obviously construction costs have escalated greatly since then) and they had to build a whole coaster! A dark ride itself is a pretty simple system if need be, and they had a building to start off with so that leaves a lot of cash for theming and technical wizardry.
  9. 195cm tends to be the max for most rides so you should be fine to board in the first place, but yeah might be uncomfortable as you said.
  10. $109 for 2 theme parks + another attraction is still good value? Prices cant stay at $99 year on year, due to inflation.
  11. Because they had a big spend with Spongebob & Penguin Encounter. In that same period I think MW got Journey to the Center of the Earth. Then In the past few months we have Seen GL, Arkham and JL at MW. I think once they are done things will shift back to SW...
  12. Basically, trackless dark rides. -Enhance the illusion. Instead of remembering you are on a ride on a rail, you can have a flat floor which could match in with the theming. -Unpredictability. With a normal track there is only one way you can go around it and if you can see the track ahead you can guess what happens next. With a trackless dark ride the vehicle can do all sorts of crazy stuff, scooting around. You could for instance have the car go into a large room, and zigzag back and forth, spin around, reverse etc like it has a mind of its own. With other vehicles you can have them interacting with each other, nearly crashing into each other etc. Why the hate for Big Red Car? I mean obviously its squarely a kids ride. Doesn't mean the concept is not cross applicable, eg:
  13. There's several interactive dark rides out there with no track (Otherwhise known as an AGV...Automated Guided Vehicle) http://www.etf.nl/nl/etf-ride-systems/etf-ride-systems/ etc
  14. <div> </div> <div>Or none at all is a possibility too!</div>
  15. <div> </div> <div>How do you mean? What <em>defines</em> how the entrance to a shooting pod ride looks? I've seen these with themes from Haunted Houses to Temples to Space Age themes.</div>
  16. ^Agreed, looks like she is wearing a stocking.
  17. Still not half as much as Harry Potter though, and they're going to build 2 more...
  18. Why couldn't they afford it?
  19. I tend to take these "out of room" arugments with a grain of salt. There are heaps of parks people say that about, and you know what? They continue to expand. Point is, if a park wants to do something, they'll demolish or squeeze in as necessary. http://www.rcdb.com/9352.htm?p=33483
  20. Disney and Universal are destination type parks, they get a lot of tourists, so they open every day (A bit like the parks on the Gold Coast) Six Flags, Cedar Fair are more aimed at local populations and aren't typically in the 'touristy' areas (Eg SF Magic Mountain is about 90km from Disneyland) The Australian equivalent would be like how Adventure World in Perth closes during the winter. Climate also plays into it a lot. Florida is on an equivalent latitude to Queensland, so the weather is good most of the time. On the other hand most cedar fair parks are in the parts of the US where it snows, so they close outside of the summer months. In terms of Disneyland/DCA versus Walt Disney World... Think of Disneyland being equivalent to Magic Kingdom, and California Adventure being roughly equivalent to Disneys Hollywood Studios.... The main point of difference is EPCoT and Animal Kingdom being only at Walt Disney World...Look up the parks and see if they are your thing.
  21. -Disney...I reckon its worth it. I kinda prefer the two parks in California to the Four at Disneyworld. Disney doesn't have that many extreme rides, but at the same time I shouldn't just be dismissed as a place for kiddies. Rides like Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, California Screamin', Soarin over California, Tower of Terror etc are all "best in class" type stuff. At Disney what you get is really solid, entertaining, and fun rides. Carsland is opening at Disney California adventure, and Radiator Springs Racers looks pretty bloody impressive: As for Six Flags...I've never found them too bad to be honest actually. I've been to Six Flags Magic Mountain, and Six Flags over Texas, both were good, and Magic Mountain is a must in LA because the huge variety of coasters. My favourite park in the US is probably Islands of Adventure. Good Coasters, good theming, and The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman, and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey are a couple of the best attractions in the world. Universal Hollywood is worth it for the new Transformers ride (I rode the Singaporean version in Feb and loved it, and the Hollywood version is identical) In terms of other parks in the US that recieve a lot of praise, the ones that stick out include. -Busch Gardens (There is one near Orlando, and another one in Willamsburg, VA) -Dollywood -Six Flags Great Adventure -Cedar Point -Hersheypark But, to be honest, if you see the major parks in California and Florida, that's a pretty decent bite and you wouldn't come away dissapointed.

  23. Its just what the site does. If you multi post in close succession (Or think that it hasn't worked, so try again) it combines the posts rather than doing separate ones. Seems to occur on mobile type devices more often (I guess the browsers on them drop out more often compared to on a computer)
