  1. Yeah, i was thinking that (but remember its 16 passengers on a proper half pipe, not the smaller japanese model, which would get it to 400), but IMO it doesnt matter since SW isnt a thrill park, so the ride wouldn't get long lines anyway, like corkscrew seems pretty quiet whenever you visit, though Joz would be in a much better position to comment on corkscrews popularity.
  2. Why wouldnt you see a half pipe going in?
  3. Wait, Matt, are you suggesting the ride going to SW is the halfpipe that was on the roof of an outlet store in Japan? though according to the RCDB entry http://www.rcdb.com/id3383.htm? they cant get demolition permits for the ride so if this has since changed it could come here. The only issue i can see is the tiny capacity.
  4. Yeah it is, i just love that one because it looks so twisty with tons of dips. Prehaps the perect layout would begin with a couple of straight hills like at SFNE, but the rest of the ride would be a twisted mess.
  5. My apoligies, I didnt realize. I normally go by the "Location" descriptor under the members Avatar. I thought it was someone being a bit careless but alas i was wrong. I never intended to cause any offence.
  6. A ball coaster is basically a 4D coaster by Intamin, but with no turns due to the car design. But from what we know. -A launched coaster -made by Intamin -no higher than 100" (SWs height limit as dicussed) -most likley compact to fit in SW -not an impulse -does not use water Hmmm, Any old fool could work that out .
  7. One thing is the fact you need to watch your spelling and grammar as it was a bit hard to read.
  8. A slide like this would make my Day, that has got to be the coolest slide i have ever seen. It looks great, has tons of dips and uses 3 passenger rafts (which help capacity), but there is a conveyor belt that avoids the problems of trying to get a raft up narrow stairs (like in the Extreme H20 zone)
  9. And what i want to know is, is wether any residents actually oppose the development. It really bugs me when governments interfere with stuff like this trying to be overly controlling. Another example of this I can think of is the retail development that was blocked at Avalon Airport, the reason being it was not in one of the 'activity areas' set out under the Melbourne 2020 plan. Like its friggin waste land around the airport, nobody would be affected, it would only be positive for the airport operator and visitors flying in. And whats with the obessesion with high density housing in new devlopments, does anyone actually want to live in them? Especially at Coomera, where there are no real views and the only company being a noisy theme park that will only get noisier. But as Rich said, just let the free market take its course, and let them develop what the GP wants, and not what the council tells them to want. And one other thing, why was on overseas firm given preference in development, havent maquarie had a bit more experience in the area? But anyway hope Maquarie wins....
  10. Oh sorry about that. Well if thats the case cool, i have wanted to ride one of them for ages, But IMO it would be better if it was just one big drop out of the tunnels rather than lots of little ones like super 8, its not that fun just crashing into water and slowing down as you do on super 8, but one smooth, continuous drop would be cool because you could streamline and not get a face full of water all the way down. And i can see what you mean with the supports for a Rocket, but its a bit of a long shot since they are very similar to a normal slides supports. But anyway IMO the rocket slide is inferior to the master blaster, its better to be blasted uphill by water than conveyor belts that break down. One thing, Nice slide colours, do they come in mens? Maybe they will look a bit better surrounded by plants.
  11. Hmm, I dont like the name as much now (Bluewater Bay was a better choice IMO) but it will probably grow on me. So where did this new info come from?
  12. With the Beowulf or Bohemian Bowl or whatever it is, in pics i have seen the framework at the bottom of the bowl is in the same style as a tornado: http://www.officialticketcenter.com/atart/...ture%20copy.gif, but you are probably right and it will be a tornado, maybe they could do a last minute addition to the ride and add disco lights and enclose the funnel as a point of difference. Also, i hate to dissapoint you, but from what i can see that is built so far, there wont be waterfall exits, as there is usually a box type thing with a slot for the waterfall, but i cant see anything like it. But why are they so good? the one at the end of terror canyon was pretty "meh" to me. Also, im taking a punt, but the tallest tower will probably have a multi person raft ride coming off of it, because the gap in the railings is huge and the larger columns will probably support it.
  13. Whoa, what a backflip!
  14. A single arm ferris wheel means rather than having the wheel between 2 supports either side (like at the show, or in the style of a bicycle) the wheel is cantelivered by only one support on one side (sort of like how on a car wheel the axle is attached to one side, but not on the hubcap side)
  15. It could very well be that they might wait till afte the movie had died down before advertising the Superman aspect of the ride. Just another little advertising thing, MW was on Australias funniest home videos on sunday night. They showed some good footage of most of the rides between each segment , somehow tieing it in with each clip, for example the host said "MW has so many rides, but all of them are better than this", before showing a clip of someone sliding down a wier on a rubber ring. Another example was when the host interviewed bugs bunny, but then they showed a clip of someones home video taken at MW where a kid farted on Bugs. It is interesting to note SE wasnt blanked out or anything, they just spoke about it like normal.
  16. Are the markings in an area that can be seen by the public? If so can you say where they are? Im kind of stuck for the fact I cant go to SW (unless you can get me a plane ticket ) Im looking foward to this though, an Intamin is always a good addition.
  17. Ill have to put that on my to do list next time im over in Adelaide visiting family. So have you been to have a look? Taken photos? I tried to google it but i couldnt find a website.
  18. Well, going by RCDB for existing Intamin Launch Coasters, it could be: An Aqua Trax - That would be my first choice Reverse Freefall Coaster - With one up the road at DW, Nope! Suspended catapult coaster - Like volcano the ride, that would be cool, but i dont know if they would want to canibalise LW Impulse Coaster - Nice compact ride that could work well Half Pipe Coaster - Again, a nice compact ride that could work well Accelerator - With one just opened at MW, no way. Family/Mine train coaster - Some of these have launches, maybe lasseters lost reef could return. New Model - Maybe there could be a new coaster type where SW would be first. You never know.......
  19. Hmmm, Model T low capacity? And Big red car isnt? When i was there it was a walkon, but It wouldnt be too bad to see it removed as they could always build a new track elsewhere in the park if they wanted to keep it. They kind of wrecked it by building wiggles world, now all rivertown comprises of is a Fast Food Restaurant. And Im taking a guess, but I dont think it will be a B&M, it just seems too unlikely.
  20. Heres something I posted on Ozcoaster, but for those of you who dont go there here it is. Basically its just a quick skectch for my sort of idea for how the ride could look. I have tried to keep in line with what has been said (Eg simpler, less immersive theming, no story, openess) Basically the launch zone is behind a cast iron fence to match with the manor, so people can go up and look through the bars at the launch. The queue would be mainly housed under a replica of the batwing, and this would be the queues only main feature (Which could work to the parks favour, as a single large thematic element would be a great photo op and would be memorable, so people might spread about the ride by WOM). It would be at an off kilter angle and would be propped up by a few bent beams to give crash landed look. This would be further enhanced by scratches over the craft, wreckage strewn around the ride (This would be cheap to do, just visit a scrapyard) and removed panels on the under belly that expose the inner workins of the craft. This could provide the element of interest the people wating below, as smoke machines, sparks (by strobes), mist etc could leak from the craft. The overflow queue (not shown) would be housed under shade sails with the batman logo.
  21. Yeah, i think thats why in recent years parks have been shifting to September openings, though WVTP keeps stuffing up and opening its rides late.
  22. I have actually seen that photo before, i think it appeared on that Newspaper liftout thing about WVTP, thats why I was wondering that paticular photo wasnt used. Its a good point that Nev makes about usage Rights etc, but you would think as a company they would just put that aside and work to improve profits. And another thing, on the SE website they had a countdown to the opening of Superman Returns, which is an example of cross promotion, so maybe there arent any issues. Prehaps we could just put it down to HJs clueless marketing team, who seem to be stuck in a rut of using annoying songs and constantly advertising the Whopper.
  23. Ugggg, They keep using the words Superman, and Escape, but why cant they just mention Superman Escape and have a picture of it, its as if they are deliberatley trying to advertise it poorly.
  24. Just by comparison, How was the theming on Dr Dooms Fear Fall at IOA? It is a similar concept (A themed S&S tower) but is it overdone or does it work well?
  25. I suppose it depends on the Quantity or Quality of thrill rides. For Quantity of rides DW would indeed be on top But for the quality of thrill rides MW would be on top.
