Dreamworld Log Ride reopening 2017
From memory Eureka had barely any difference to a standard mouse layout. If you wanted to bring it back, would you not just procure a mouse? (Could even be ex carnival since it would be hidden) then just put a box around it...You could even cheap out a bit by having a greater portion of the facade as corrugated iron 'mine buildings' in lieu of rock work. A couple of Animatronic scenes in prefab "boxes" on the switchback section and you're done. Granted, the coaster you got would still be a dumbed down version of Scooby, but the original was too anyway, so IDK....The above would really just be the quickest and cheapest way to get back what was there. Ideally any revamp would be more ambitious, and could even have a longer outdoor section where the rapids reservoir is.

Dreamworld Log Ride reopening 2017
Prior to october wasn't there already whisperings of something going on with Eureka, and of course the endless pics of the car being moved on the tracks etc. Is it possible that the plans were somewhat underway, with the accident causing things to be put on hold for a period?

New resort near Dreamworld
Nobody is talking about getting to DW, but rather to/from the apartments proposed as part of this residential/resort development.

Backwards Coasters
They're not particularly bad rides if running the newer trains, but the inversions are all a bit too rapid fire for me, so they're a one and done. But the inverted version is really good, and I wish more parks had them!

Backwards Coasters
This is topical with DC Rivals HyperCoaster around the corner, but just wondering, what coasters have people been on that go backwards for some or all of the ride? What used it most effectively? (For simplicity, let's not include spinning coasters) Here in Aus: Demon Tower of Terror / 2 Scooby Doo Buzzsaw Elsewhere: Revenge of the Mummies (All) Various Boomerangs Stinger Invertigo Escape from Krypton Montezumas Revenge Deja Vu / Goliath X2 V2 Vertical Velocity Expedition Everest Firechaser Express Wicked Twister Mr Freeze / Reverse Blast Batman the Ride (SFFT) Green Lantern (SFMM) Superman (SFDK) Tempesto Full Throttle Canopy Flyer I think out of that entire list Canopy Flyer is the only one that you can ride backwards the whole way Firechaser probably has the best backwards part since the set up for it is done so well thematically, with honourable mention to Hollywoods Revenge of the Mummy. And who could forget Scooby

To Everyone: Let's Make Our Own Theme Park
To be honest, if I were starting a mini park somewhere, I'd just open a giant rain fortress as the sole attraction (Like Cowabunga Bay in Utah), since its visually impressive and gets the crucial family market. An entrance / kiosk / party / changeroom facility would be the only building, with chip and tar car park. Then add a few small family flats around it in future seasons, but be careful to ensure they matched the theme of the rain fortress so essentially its a mini area with a cohesive theme. Then I'd expand outwards and backwards from there. Eventually, if the park got big enough you'd build a new entrance further in front, so the original kiddy land would be fairly central in the now more major park. I suppose to an extent the Maze in Perth took this approach, but they only put a tiny play structure in not much bigger than what many caravan parks have these days,so there's no roadside appeal, and its not compelling compared to the one at Adventure World.

Why does your version have the spaceship part at the top of the lift hill?

New resort near Dreamworld
Nah, it's fecked now. Basically during school term the M1 southbound in the AM is a crawl from the DW exit through to the Westfield Helensvale exit, due to the explosion in residential subdivisions around Pimpama and Coomera. The funny thing is, it only got bad probably in the last 12 months. Prior I always considered it a dream run because you were always against the predominant commuter flow from Brisbane to GC.

But the Sky lift just skirts along the edge, and you can use the space under it efficiently for the queue. Anyway, here are my punts for what can feasibly fit -Starflyer type ride...Why not? They are crowd pleasers. -Some sort of standard model family coaster (Maurer spinner pictured). The park needs a full family coaster that sits in terms of intensity between Dragon Express and Abyss. -Zamperla Discovery Revolution....Australia doesn't have one that does a full 360. -Zamperla Giant Discovery (If placed lengthways)....Would be the biggest of its kind in Aus, but not my first choice. -Gerstlauer Skyroller....Park has dealt with the manufacturer. More thrill than a standard starflyer.

Healthy food at theme parks
I don't think healthy food is too much of an issue at our parks. Typically, you only buy one meal (Lunch) and if you are buying sweets etc, it's because you want that food, not for sustenance. If I'm eating park food, it's a cheat meal, and you can eat a healthy brekky and dinner when you get home. At MW you can get sandwiches at the Main St Deli, wrap at Village Bean, and the build your own burritos at DHB has lean grilled meat and plenty of vegetables and salsas served with it. There's a Village Bean at WnW too, but WnW only has a couple of food outlets anyway. At DW, they've got sandwiches at that sandwich bar, and at Green Bean, and I guess you could eat at the Buffet and stick to healthier options there. At SW, there's Village bean, that healthy food place at the top terrace near the entrance. I don't know the menu well enough at dockside, but another option is just to eat at the Resort. As for drinks, well water is literally the most ubiquitous option since just about every gift shop has a small drink fridge. Anything else has sugar (Except maybe Bepis Max / Conke Zero) Please nobody say juice bar is a real option. Thats basically a liquid meal, and not what you get when you dehydrated and want to quench yourself. PS, I want parks here to sell the old style non fizzy lemonade like you can get at the US parks...That was my go to item.

How do they check the belts? Do you tug on the belt in front of the ops?

Backwards row - DC Rivals HyperCoaster
I see two things at work. You have the basic full ride that you market, and get people into the park. Then on top of that, you add special features that don't necessarily help with the initial pitch, but what they do is leave a good impression on riders that they can tell all their friends about etc, or encourages them to come back because they liked it so much. One I was thinking about was the enclosed barrel roll on Abyss. AFAIK its not mentioned anywhere on their promotional material, but would be a cool suprise in the dark for first time riders. And it wouldn't have been a cheap feature, but makes a good impression.

It would be a unique experience. Riders can get the sensation of reversing their bike without having to take their feet off the pegs.

Rides we don't have good photos of
As everyone knows, we aim to be Australias #1 theme park source, but we still have a few gaps in our photo galleries. Pics in here are a great permanent resource. Pics posted in the forums can be hard to hunt down after the fact. The following rides can do with pics. On their ride profile page, just scroll to the bottom and hit the "Add photos of XXXX". Some have none at all, others don't really show enough of the ride off (Eg photos of rides that dont really show the layout). They should be of decent resolution...anything above about 4 megapixel seems to be fine (Most of my pics in the past were taken on a samsung s5!) We want good photos, so don't be afraid to correct colours in photoshop if bright sun has washed them out, or if the horizon isn't horizontal, kids faces need blurring etc It's better to upload from your computer. Sometimes ones uploaded on mobile have incorrect orientation data and turn out sideways, and we cant fix that. Dreamworld Log Ride reopening 2017
You could rectify the latter by having more theming along the track, like overhead gantries and "Brigestone Arches", chevron signs on the corners, a race control tower etc.

Backwards row - DC Rivals HyperCoaster
No need to of course, but it's still that few percent extra, like adding a non standard helix at the end of your SLC, or adding a dark ride before your 0-100 launch. Both of those coasters would have been almost as good without those things, but adding extras just pushes you over the top. I think the backwards seats just add even more awe to an already awesome ride, and capture a certain group of people who want even more. Nothing wrong with going above and beyond to wow your audience.....Did you notice how they did it as a kicker at the end of the trailer. People would have been sold on the ride before they even mentioned the backwards aspect. Its like how Steve Jobs used to do that "One more thing" at the end of his Keynote addresses.
