  1. DREAMWORLD’S FLYING START TO 2018 WITH NEW WORLD-CLASS ATTRACTION ANNOUNCED The thrills keep on coming at Dreamworld, with a unique new attraction set to open in late 2018. The yet-to-be-named ‘i-Ride’ flying theatre by Brogent Technologies will be the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and will be housed in Dreamworld’s former I-MAX Theatre. Sway, surge and roll as you embark on an immersive journey of the Australian landscape aboard a 10-seat gondola, suspended over a hemispherical screen. You’ll even get a range of special effects such as wind, sound, light, mist and various scents to enhance your 4D simulated ride experience. The ride will be similar to existing attractions such as FlyOver Canada in Toronto and Voletarium in Europa Park, Germany and promises to be lots of fun for the whole family. With rides for all thrill levels, wildlife experiences, live shows and presentations, cultural displays and a water park, Dreamworld truly is so many worlds in one!
  2. The new viewing area of Rivals is very popular, and is a nice space to sit in and watch the coaster run The news stand roofing is complete And finally, the AA alley is permanently open And they’ve opened up the gate at DD
  3. An Article from the Courier Mail this morning. > http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/dreamworld-to-unveil-new-flying-theatre-attraction-for-gold-coast-theme-park/news-story/4f076ea1f13151e0a42a99b82a21de94 It suggests there will be an announcement today of the Flying Theatre attraction, and that there are plans to put in a dark ride in the spot of the mine ride.
  4. I don't think Dr Weisis is the one calling WWW a sister park. "Mr Weiss also mooted a new “dark” attraction on the site of the long-closed mine ride, new attractions for children and significant expansion at sister park WhiteWater World". Moving on - Who remembers stage 3 for WWW that never got off the ground. A major expansion to WWW would be great and well overdue. In reality, I would bank on one new slide tower.
  5. I’d say they wouldn’t be able to fit anymore gondolas into the building, without investing even more money to make much larger. But I am very excited to see what the park does with this, and being right at the front of the park, should be very popular with everyone. Adding more slides into WWW is very much needed, so hopefully they build another tower for a couple more slides. And hopefully in time for next summer. WnW hadn’t added a slide for quite a while, so this could give them a one up on that park. And a dark ride to replace Mine Ride. Wooooo, I know someone on here will be particularly happy with that news. I can’t see it happening for another couple of years, but still great to here they have plans. Great to see the park will be developing and that Ardent are willing to invest some money into the park. Let’s make Dreamworld great again.
  6. For those wanting to skip the article and paywalls, here's the major points: Brogent i-Ride going into the Dreamworld Cinema, essentially a "Soarin' over Oz" Four gondolas with ten seats each totalling 40 seats "4D" experience (which doesn't necessarily confirm 3D glasses or not at this stage) Will have "wind, sound, light, mist and various scents" A Dark ride will go in behind it once complete where the Mine Ride was Some various thoughts of mine and typical OurWorlds rambling can be found here. No doubt when @Richard wakes up from his snooze he'll craft up something a little more professional.
  7. Hopefully it won't be too long now till it reopens (I'm not expecting an NY Day reopening for this unless they are working after hours and the rest of the major parts to come in I beg to differ. I'm feeling confident that it will be open before the holidays finish) I'm gonna say from what i'm seeing here that we got 30-25% work that needs to be completed
  8. The timing is odd. Instead of telling people why they should be coming now the news is filled with mentions of last year's events in exchange for telling people about what's coming next year. I'm all for building hype but it's almost at the expense of this year. Even with the missteps surrounding not being able tl have the Wipeout, Log Ride, Trolls meet'n greet and Kiddie Ferris wheel open, they still have ways to market themselves. They could really market that WWW & DW are the same massive park now, they could be marketing that the DW pass is cheaper and bettee value than Village. But instead it's 'Oh wait till you see what we're doing next year!' 'Tickets not on sale now!'
  9. Not quite. Craig's mentioned in at least one Parkz article that they're going to clean up Giant Drop's pathways, and naturally if you're going to redo the queue, you'll probably do something semi-nice with it along the way (btw, by all accounts it's running up parallel along the Tower of Terror track and then across the train tracks, but that could have since been abandoned since from first hand experience being that close to the incline is deafening). Also, given how, uhhh.. we'll say "inconsistently" Giant Drop's been running lately, a major refurb wouldn't surprise me at all.
  10. 1. Gingy’s Glider 2. DC Rivals HyperCoaster 3.Australia Outback Spectacular, Paradise Country, Top Golf, MW 4. I have no clue on this one I’ll let someone answer this one 5. Tiger Cub Kindy
  11. I too would love them to revisit these plans and make these ideas happen. I don’t see them doing all of this at once, but one new tower with two slides is my current bet
  12. I would love to see that happen, but I cant ever see that happening now. But the lazy river should be going ahead with 1 new slide tower.
  13. FKin' awesome, great work Dreamworld.
  14. This is actually quiet exciting for dreamworld.
  15. You certainly get the feeling that Ardent don’t really want to operate a theme park anymore (if they ever really did), and are very scared about actually operating rides. It’s a shame this was the way they reacted to the Thunder River tragedy. It feels that way to a lesser extent over at Village. Hopefully this passes. There have of course been some terrible accidents at parks overseas, even at Disney, but you don’t see those parks retreating from the industry. They learn from mistakes and then go on to get bigger and better.
  16. It's really sad to see Dreamworld going over the top with "safety" features. I honestly feel like the park is intentionally adding reasonably pointless "safety" upgrades to rides just so it can fix it's reputation. Take the shockwave for example. No other Disk O's in Australia or NZ are using harnesses, including the 2 year older Invader ride at Rainbows End, yet it gets the attention from us and it makes us feel good that Dreamworld is focused on safety. I feel like Pitt and Sherry may be behind half of this too, telling Dreamworld to add things they perhaps don't genuinely need. The log ride "cage" is so stupid and racing-grade seatbelts would have looked cleaner and would have also been more comfortable. They need to really STOP FIXING THINGS THAT ARE NOT BROKEN.
  17. That's just crazy. You are going to have a lot of very upset guests over the hot summer period. Meanwhile, there are countless log rides overseas that have been running for decades and decades with NO INCIDENTS. Why don't they just look overseas for a little reassurance???
  18. If wooden slats were not removed from the River Rapids those people would not have been killed. Dreamworld modifying the ride led to those deaths.
  19. Got more photos on camera which I will upload later
  20. Update time Wipeout Kevil Hill is back open Starting from tomorrow the attraction will operate from 10am till 6pm Play School Ferris Wheel Updates on RHLR have been posted on it’s individual thread (EMMR deconstruction update will be uploaded later tonight) The park has a few new shows that are being performed at the moment which is really good to see
  21. The Film Theorists also just did a video covering the old Rankin and Bass Christmas cartoons and it explains how bumble got his name
  22. It's 5pm and as we were promised, absolutely everything is open here at Sea World. Certainly makes a big difference to the atmosphere, and I hope they continue with this.
  23. Took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly? you think those 9 will rival Rivals? (had to do that!) Superman, Green Lantern, Rivals, Batwing, Arkham, Doomsday, (and if MDMC ranks as a big thrill, then...) SDSC and Wild West Falls. That's 8 rides that i'm comfortable saying shits on all but maybe 3 of DW's 'big 9'. Honestly their current actions don't even come close to competing. I'm calling it - Movie World is the new thrill capital on the gold coast!
  24. Hi. I'm a newbie here but read Parkz quite regularly. I love puzzles so I un-jumbled the Dreamworld Billboard.
  25. I'm very sceptical about the idea of a dark ride where Eureka was, given what we know from the recent Parkz interview with Craig Davison, when he said a dark ride was being considered in the form of the existing track from Eureka, covered by a new enclosure of some kind. That track has obviously now gone. Nonetheless, if they are now seriously considering a completely new dark ride that might potentiallybe very good. I'd await further details! I am dumb, so I await correction by someone wise!
  26. Dreamworld's Eureka Mountain Mine Ride will not be reopening Dreamworld won't be pressing ahead with plans to relaunch the classic Eureka Mountain Mine Ride following analysis of the ride structure and its viability as an ongoing attraction at the theme park. Click here to continue reading
