  1. Today DWs carpark is 100% full, just driven through it to see how the crowds were, and I couldn’t see one single space. There was also still a queue to get into the park. Awesome to see, and probably one of the first times it’s been like this since the incident.
  2. Wow. I’ve gotta give you credit for waiting in the huge line for FOP @Mc coaster. I think the ride is a cool concept, but it really would only work with an IP. It works well with avatar, as you are flying around on a banshee. I think a Soarin’ style ride will do just fine as you fly around Australia. Here is a Brogent i ride that recently opened in Europa Park called Voletarium. The theming on this is outstanding & definitely makes the whole attraction so much better. I do wonder what theming Dreamworld could do & how well it can be done. I’m not expecting a huge amount, but hopefully they put some effort into theming! 🤞🏼
  3. I wouldn’t expect much negative feedback about dropping a fee.
  4. Whilst I like IP themed attractions, to put it simply a HTTYD themed flying ride would be a disjustice to the ride. This ride needs to not only appeal to all, it needs to have longevity. HTTYD is a fairly weak movie/tv series, and doesn’t hold a following outside of its target audience. This is one occasion where a generic Australiana theme is perfect for the attraction type.
  5. Seriously.....if it's the case DW have put 1) their Logs in a "cage" and 2) removed the tunnels.....they are still run by a pack of amatuers - it's a THEME Park and every attraction needs quality theming. I was hopeful the next 10yrs or so, was going to see the long-term return of DW to genuine quality standards. IF what I'm reading here is true, this is not encouraging....and the Log Rides been a very safe attraction....surely, they can come up with a simple belt restraint, this thing looks weird not to mention horrible....not seen it anywhere else on a Log Ride...laughable actually. No tunnels, what's with that? Do they still use "real water", I mean people HAVE drowned in it???
  6. Dreamworld takes bold steps towards recovery with i-Ride flying theatre Dreamworld's announcement of a flying theatre attraction is the first indication of a real recovery strategy. Click here to continue reading
  7. They already have one - Buzzsaw. Although from reports much of that theming and storyline has virtually disappeared.
  8. DreamWorld have now introduced shows in White Water World. At 11:45 and 3:00, you will be treated to Evolution of Beach At 12:50 and 2:20, you will be able to see a new show called 'Light it up'. They have also released a new show called 'Can you feel it'
  9. DREAMWORLD’S FLYING START TO 2018 WITH NEW WORLD-CLASS ATTRACTION ANNOUNCED The thrills keep on coming at Dreamworld, with a unique new attraction set to open in late 2018. The yet-to-be-named ‘i-Ride’ flying theatre by Brogent Technologies will be the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and will be housed in Dreamworld’s former I-MAX Theatre. Sway, surge and roll as you embark on an immersive journey of the Australian landscape aboard a 10-seat gondola, suspended over a hemispherical screen. You’ll even get a range of special effects such as wind, sound, light, mist and various scents to enhance your 4D simulated ride experience. The ride will be similar to existing attractions such as FlyOver Canada in Toronto and Voletarium in Europa Park, Germany and promises to be lots of fun for the whole family. With rides for all thrill levels, wildlife experiences, live shows and presentations, cultural displays and a water park, Dreamworld truly is so many worlds in one!
  10. As has been occurring with Movie World, there have been a number of improvements happening around Sea World lately too. Fast Track is no longer available at the park, with signs being replaced by Fast Photo The Frozen Coke stand in The Plaza has received an upgrade The Dolphin Aqua Adventure has been refurbished The decking around the Nickelodeon Store has been replaced And the Seal Guardians set is now complete and staff were meeting and discussing the new show Really bright and vibrant now There is a cave in the far left corner There is a pontoon bridge through the middle, quite a few props on the left stage and two cables with balls attached to them hanging across the water A few other things to note or I believe should be done: - There is still no 1 hour free locker hire for Storm or Jet Rescue (Hopefully this is implemented for these rides too) - More shading should be added around JR as its quite an open area of concrete - As posted yesterday all food stores and outlets were open when the park was closing, and can confirm all stores were open when the park opened.
  11. TOT2 also has metal wheels on the metal track which causes the super loud roar. Rivals has polyurethane(?) wheels like most modern coasters these days, which makes it a lot quieter.
  12. From SWs Facebook: Get an exclusive sneak peek at the new Seal Guardians presentation coming soon to Sea World! For a limited time only, get a glimpse into our team and our sea lions preparing for the new preparation. Find out more - http://ow.ly/cIxh30hnRZ7.
  13. Our passes have expired, but we got a gift card this year instead of passes, so that we can get new ones once the rush dies down (and maybe a deal pops up)
  14. The longer-term "rainbow" in all of this, is it now gives DW the chance to do anew pretty much the entire former Gold Rush area, hopefully with very well themed major new quality attractions. To be honest, it's a bit "make or break" for DW and how serious they are at present a quality product going forward. Now...let's just get rid of the Super Hornet AKA ToT that screams through the middle of the park, that awful "motocoaster" - or whatever it's called and bring the Vintage Cars back - get that whole area themed again!] And finally - not that they will - "can" the water park...or at least move it - not expecting it of course! Not sure who's themed that place in last 20yrs or so...but were they drunk?
  15. Exactly. They go and then are probably often the ones that complain it’s too busy.
  16. No idea why Passholders are wasting their time visiting this time of year? If it was up to me I would block them out entirely (peak dates only like 26th Dec -7th Jan), unless they are prepared to pay loads more for a super premium pass..
  17. I understand we’re you are coming from and I know dreamworld will not do this but I think they could have themed it to something like How To Train Your Dragon with you on the dragon maybe in a race with the other characters from the movie.
  18. "Dry side" @pushbutton ie Dreamworld, not dry slide.
  19. Maybe WWW could go with a White Water West slide complex this time. I am on holidays and last Monday I went to Volcano Bay. At VB they have 2 rivers: they have an adventure river and a lazy river. I think it worked really well because you could relax in one and have tones of fun on the other. Maybe WWW could do this.(I don’t expect it to happen)
  20. A guest would have opened it. They keep it closed for a reason.
  21. Not quite. Craig's mentioned in at least one Parkz article that they're going to clean up Giant Drop's pathways, and naturally if you're going to redo the queue, you'll probably do something semi-nice with it along the way (btw, by all accounts it's running up parallel along the Tower of Terror track and then across the train tracks, but that could have since been abandoned since from first hand experience being that close to the incline is deafening). Also, given how, uhhh.. we'll say "inconsistently" Giant Drop's been running lately, a major refurb wouldn't surprise me at all.
  22. The new viewing area of Rivals is very popular, and is a nice space to sit in and watch the coaster run The news stand roofing is complete And finally, the AA alley is permanently open And they’ve opened up the gate at DD
  23. I don't think Dr Weisis is the one calling WWW a sister park. "Mr Weiss also mooted a new “dark” attraction on the site of the long-closed mine ride, new attractions for children and significant expansion at sister park WhiteWater World". Moving on - Who remembers stage 3 for WWW that never got off the ground. A major expansion to WWW would be great and well overdue. In reality, I would bank on one new slide tower.
  24. I’d say they wouldn’t be able to fit anymore gondolas into the building, without investing even more money to make much larger. But I am very excited to see what the park does with this, and being right at the front of the park, should be very popular with everyone. Adding more slides into WWW is very much needed, so hopefully they build another tower for a couple more slides. And hopefully in time for next summer. WnW hadn’t added a slide for quite a while, so this could give them a one up on that park. And a dark ride to replace Mine Ride. Wooooo, I know someone on here will be particularly happy with that news. I can’t see it happening for another couple of years, but still great to here they have plans. Great to see the park will be developing and that Ardent are willing to invest some money into the park. Let’s make Dreamworld great again.
  25. Feeling a bit gobsmacked right now at this news, this is absolutely the best decision for DW - or any of our Parks. Village had every chance to build one for years, snooze you lose😉 I don't quite understand the Capacity of 4 x Gondolas. Maybe someone here knows but my guess is 2 x rows of 2 -or better still- 1 top row, 2 in the middle and 1 at the bottom. This would make more sense to me with the spherical shaped screen and mean that all carriages would have an equally great experience. For those who have been on Soarin, it has 3 x rows and 3 x levels (all starting from ground level) and then raised up to the screen. The experience for the far corner spots in each Theatre is not as good as the ones more toward the middle. Disneyland has 2 Theatres, WDW has 3. This DW version would have the Gondolas 'sliding' out of the wall and into 'show' position, making it much more suitable for the DW Theatre. At just 40ppl per cycle, I am disappointed to hear DW once again being so conservative with the Capacity. Assuming the ride/show presentation being around 5 minutes, the complete Cycle time would be up to10 minutes. If the total Capacity is indeed to be 40 per cycle, expect VERY long and slow moving lines to ride. 🤔 Sidenote, when MW opened BATR it ran 6 x motion bases of 20 = 120 per cycle of up to 8 cycles per hour.. only when it was very quiet, they would reduce to 2 x motion bases (40 riders) per cycle. I think they really need 6 Gondolas, cut back to 4 (or less) as required.
  26. For those wanting to skip the article and paywalls, here's the major points: Brogent i-Ride going into the Dreamworld Cinema, essentially a "Soarin' over Oz" Four gondolas with ten seats each totalling 40 seats "4D" experience (which doesn't necessarily confirm 3D glasses or not at this stage) Will have "wind, sound, light, mist and various scents" A Dark ride will go in behind it once complete where the Mine Ride was Some various thoughts of mine and typical OurWorlds rambling can be found here. No doubt when @Richard wakes up from his snooze he'll craft up something a little more professional.
  27. ^Very exciting news! I absolutely love Soarin' at DCA. I couldn't have picked a better family attraction for Dreamworld. For those that are not familiar with the 'flying theatre' ride concept, I found a couple videos that help explain the 'i-ride' mechanical system from Brogent Technologies:
  28. Thanks for the pictures! The Station area is being reclaimed (for now), simply because of cost. That's all
  29. So for that Play School ferris wheel I jope they play this music:
  30. As many here know I put on a fair bit of weight after surgery a few years back... Prior to that I was able to go on every ride at MW... I have been progressively losing weight again and I constantly check back with the rides to see if I can ride them again... From most forgiving to least... Justice League 3D Arkham Asylum Green Lantern Wild West Falls Scooby Doo Batwing Spaceshot DC Rivals Hypercoaster Superman Escape Doomsday Destroyer At this point in time it is only Superman Escape and Doomsday Destroyer I have yet to get on... If I put on a bit more weight I would not be on DC Rivals... (For info I am 178cm tall, weigh 130kg, waist 140cm, chest 130cm, shoulder width 50cm)... Hope that helps
  31. @RobMac So your answer to returning the park to success is to remove their signature ride in TOT2 and another family ride in MDMC? That is stupidity.
  32. Queues have been so long they have been passing the entry archway and heading towards JL
