Dreamworld's new attraction - December 2004
Ian replied to kennykoala's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^The reason Cyclone will be down for 4days is that it will be getting rethemed. Once it opens back up the whole ride will have models and pictures of cows, every where including the queue area and fake cows out on the tracks course. also the trains will get a paint job to look like cows and will be sponser by the same milk company that sponsers the Canberra Raiders. -
at the end of the day I couldnt care which is faster. I got bored of TOT / STE in 1998 after 3 rides on STE at SFMM I felt Ridlers Revenge (B&M) blew the pants off STE that day. As for lauch coasters that I have rode, Xcellerator which kills TOT and for that matter I have had more fun on monte (knotts) and speed in las vegas as well. remember its not just about the take off, IMO the layout and setting has alot to do with a coaster

yeah I could ride a floorless over and over. Still love riding medusa up at sfmw what a fun rush

Did you watch the Matrix Stunt show at 1:20 on main st. Also did you see me at all, I would have been with Chacters taking photos for guest? -
^ wait till you see Disneysea it blew my mind

Just wanted to say these haunted mazes are a night time atmosphere attraction thats why they only operate in North American parks from 6pm to 12/2am durning October the month of Hallowean. So of course they are not going to seem as good on a January summer day at 10am plus over there you head out to the parks at night after work/school just to have fun with scary old hallowean.

Now I totally agree with Mx5boy on what he is sayin and I know we have great parks, and I know we wont have 16 coaster like sfmm has. But as for Queensland parks we still need to spend money to make money which we have stoped doing over the past few years. Disney does that so did seaworld san deigo with JTA this year, and im sayin this for a big attraction for the parks every couple to five years not each year like the states as we dont have the numbers at the moment, as a employee I know this is one of the big complaints from staff on the inside is we are not spending the money to make the money. Now as for Wonderland if that park was redesign by a new company and lots of money put into it, it could do so well with the 4 million population in Sydney and the national population of Australia and New Zealand. because Sydney is just as big as any Usa Theme Park city with the exception of Anaheim and Orlando. well there my thoughts anyway

nice new layout rich

^thanks slick Djrappa everything you said is true and you are making alot of sense to me. Nightshifter you are probably a nice guy and I have nothing against you yes dreamworld has more rides and after last weeks visits the park is improving, but thats it, as for MW top 3 rides they all have great elements that other rides dont offer eg backwards drops ect, but the one thing MW has is atmosphere. I know if I enjoy a park I cant do it in a day. Try to do all of MW Rides and Shows in a day to see what I mean. batman, lt music review, movie magic, marvin the martian, bat attack show, Austin, marilyn, Bettlejuice and street thearte shows, Matrix stunt show, LT village and its rides, scooby doo, main st parade, matrix exibition, blazzing saddles, WWF. and photos with the characters and shopping. so in summing up yes Movieworld may not have alot of rides but neither does universal hollywood because last I heard work was a movie theme park not sfmm. and finally ask anyone on these boards who has been to america about Disney vs Sfmm and you will see what I mean **Note** the above post was posted by a theme park worker and fan of alll parks**Note**

so what did everybody think of the joz's modeling with the new air con system? It was a big update but fun just like the day at dreamworld it's good when you meet up with fellow theme park freaks. p.s the Lara Croft I talked too said they may be extending till easter.
-
here is the dreamworld update if you want to laugh features sheep, inflatable penguins, lara croft, iron henge, big brother http://ozcoaster.net/dw140104/page1.php
-
just spent alot of my bad sleeping patterns resizing the images for update 35 photos will be used and wait till you see the new ride and the penguin
-
well me a joz hit dreamworld today as the mw and sw spy's lol Park has improved to tell you the truth and will have a update coming soon with, inflatable penguins, new signs, sheep and of course me and Lara Croft. p.s Joz found the cyclone cow and we discover the next ride at dw "iron henge" stay tuned for more Ian

I have heard a bit of truth to the above. Basically alot of staff changes at the top happen in a lot of departments including a new GM, I was told all this from my boss at work so I take it all as fact cause I know who the new GM is. As for my thoughts on new ownership basically since Marvel has started to come into the park my feeling has been Universal has enter into Wonderland's mix, as Universal are the parks that deal with Marvel I have also felt that a big company like Universal may have seen that Sydney has over 4 million people yet the parks attendance is so low that they know if they changed the park it would be a potential goldmine down the road just look at attendance in cities with 4 milllion in the USA to see this.

^It normally take a night (try doing a update yourself professional before making stupid comments) I hate people worldwide that claim on any site that theres not enough updates just jackasses if you ask me. I work as a full time photographer for warner bros, then have a life outside of work you know friends, family and partners. sorry if you just sit at your computer all day. -
Ive finally got some days off from Movie world next week Ill try to get to Dreamworld on wednesday and then do a updater soon after.
-
not sure just yet as wwf will go down after hoildays for a quick rehab but dates are not set just yet. also tell me closer to time day you will be at park so i can tell you if im working.
-
I think wonderland may be on its way back up and not sinking after Ive been told at work about all the big management and staff changes that have occured in the last 2 weeks at the park
-
Im sure the cubs just saw what wonderland had to offer in rides and attractions got scared then they both ranaway from the park that night. p.s flea will do your wonderland update later in week as just finished the ozcoaster whats to come in 2004 update featuring the photos on the staff page of us if any one wants a laugh http://ozcoaster.net/2004.php

good to hear you are enjoying florida rich You should have gone to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon water parks at Disney way better then wet n wild orlando. I did ET at universal hollywood when it was open such a fun ride .
-
at work today the ride was open which was great news as it was 40deg at the park today i think ive lost 10kg today alone.

here my opion from a industry worker of theme parks and 9 years of travel to overseas parks Dreamworld is good if you havent been to parks before or just small ones but not world class. Movie World and Sea World are very good by World Standards except maybe in the number of coaster department , but they clean up in shows , normal rides, food ,retail and how tidy they are. And wet n Wild is a fun water Park not a theme park just a fun place to hang out in this Queensland heat. And with Paradise country about to be relocate behind Movieworld you watch these parks add there magic to this park. Thats why I love being a official photographer for this company just have to look at the shoot I did at Wet N Wild on Calypso Beach yesterday with guest to see this magic. thanks for your time and all you fanboys have a good christmas. me and my mates being kiwis found them rude to be honest we all went though metal detectors ect then sat in a audience of 50 people for 6 hours during that time they had lots of breaks and not once came and said hello which I thought was rude "you really appericate how funny the writers are and not the actors" thats the good thing with kiwi and aussie actors there down to earth guys. the only good thing was courtney and rachel had short skrits on which was a highlight. anyway if any one wants to know it was series 5 episode "the one with the Yetti" you can actually here my mates loud laugh in one of the scences
