Revised Dreamworld Map - no Rocky Hollow Log Ride

Is this Facebook comment made by DW about the Rocky Hollow Log Ride a more definite indication that they may re-open it in the future? -
Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
Jamberoo Fan replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I know that @themagician - I was just referring to distance in general not whether you can see it or not. -
The main problem I've seen with cable cars/gondolas is capacity. Yes, they got high capacity which in most cases is good but in this case, it's too much capacity. Assuming SW has the same average attendance as DW, that is 6000 people per day on average. SW's former Sky High Skyway could handle about 4000 people maximum in 1 whole day. These gondolas/cable cars can handle double that in 1 hour. Most cable cars/gondolas would thus be very underutilised and be labelled a 'white elephant'. Even with the casino's visitation added, it'd probably be only a slight improvement. If it was to help local commuters, well how many people commute to The Spit? Probably not many extra. Tourists would only use it and there is still too few tourists to justify building it. It may also be too high to meet height restrictions (unless they relax the restrictions) and may be deemed an eyesore by local residents. If anything, I'd extend the light rail to terminate at SW from the Main Beach stop in it's own branch line. By the way, the cruise ship terminal is not part of those plans. That would probably work if you can encourage visitors to not drink too much alcohol.

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season

They are not re-opening the thrill rides based on distance from Thunder River Rapids otherwise Mick Doohan's Motocoaster wouldn't have been the 2nd thrill ride to have re-opened. They also wouldn't have re-opened a small portion of Town Of Gold Rush if they were completely avoiding that area. -

Yeah, I know that will happen but it's better than nothing. It would reduce congestion to an extent. Other solutions could be to: Re-route Arkham Asylum's main entrance to Lethal Weapon's original Chinatown Alley entrance &; Re locate Batwing Spaceshot's exit so people leave in the direction of the Fountain Of Fame The above might not solve the congestion problem but it would help a bit. I haven't assumed that (others might have though) as I don't have enough information yet to make an assumption about that. -

Jamberoo Fan replied to jjuttp's topic in Theme Park Discussion

Wet 'n' Wild Sydney New Ride 2016/17
Jamberoo Fan replied to jjuttp's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Received a Wet 'n' Wild Sydney brochure today. This is part of what it reads: Is this them acknowledging the park isn't up to the general public's expectations only after 3 years of operations? Better than no acknowledgement I suppose... -

I agree with @AlexB but it would be the biggest walk between a ride's entrance & exit in the park - beating it by AA's by about 40 metres, which is approximately 130 metres long. This wouldn't be a problem for the hypercoaster's riders but it might be for people who are waiting for people in their group who rode it particularly if they don't know where the exit is. Maybe the hypercoaster could have 2 entrances/exits - a general public precinct entrance/exit & a 2nd ride entrance/exit so the general public has to enter via 1 entrance & exit via the other while in-between it's a precinct home to the hypercoaster's main ride entrance/exit? Here's a quick schematic I've drawn up if I didn't explain it clearly: The red area is the hypercoaster's queue/exit while the orange is the hypercoaster's 'precinct'. The grey areas are the entrance & exits to the hypercoaster's 'precinct'. The blue lines are 'no exit' and 'no entry' signs. ...so before the end of next year. Also, like what I've said before, it would match what they did for SE if that ended up as the case - SE was first formally announced to the media in a media call about massive expansions at all VRTPs. That media call happened in mid-September 2005. In my updated guess timetable, I've put that as happening in mid-April 2017. -

According to DW's webpage for the attraction, it will close (or have it's opening hours changed) on Sunday the 15th of January 2017 too. -

He said "for next year...for this year sorry" - which, to me, made it sound like he was indicating an opening date (which we now know isn't the case - his correction, that is) but I agree with the interpretation that @gumb00t & @Tim Dasco made of what he said. I assumed 'building' included the actual track installation. Based on the SE timetable, construction fencing marketing would indicate track installation is about to begin plus that the track parts would have already arrived (did they hide them really well? or have they just not arrived yet? ). Here's an updated timetable basing it on a 30 September 2017 opening: Mid November 2015 - Rollercoaster development application approved by Council/New MW attraction to be "one of the world’s best theme park drawcards" confirmed to shareholders June/July 2016 - Site prepartion/footing placement tender advertised confirming the rollercoaster is a 'hypercoaster' Early July 2016 to mid January 2017 - Site preparation/footing placement Mid August 2016 - Original (but now delayed) announcement date Early September 2016 - Mack Rides confirmed as manufacturer due to their crates seen on construction site Early November 2016 to Late December 2016 - Track parts arrival Mid December 2016 - Construction fencing marketing added Near Future - Currently most likely time period for the hypercoaster announcement Late January to Mid May 2017 - Track installation Late March 2017 - Outdoor media marketing campaign begins Mid April 2017 - Trains arrive/Media call Mid May 2017 to 30 September 2017 - Theming/landscaping Early July 2017 - Train 'pull-throughs' Late July 2017 - Main marketing campaign begins/Testing begins Mid/Late September 2017 - MW website update Late September 2017 - Preview rides/Media launch 30 September 2017 - Opening By the way, I'm not going to update this timetable everytime an error is made (if anymore occur). Given an approximate opening date was confirmed today and the timetable was based around an approximate opening date, this is an exemption. The timetable probably won't be updated from now on (unless you really want it to be). -
Super 8 Aqua Racer at Wet N Wild GC
Jamberoo Fan replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I believe all the Gold Coast theme parks' maintenance pages all automatically update at Midnight each night so given Wet 'n' Wild didn't update their maintenance page before midnight last night to extend Super 8 Aqua Racer's maintenance period, it's listing disappeared automatically at midnight and as you can see, they didn't re-publish it (and extend it) until earlier today. -
Thought it was there based on what little information I had. Thanks for that confirmation. I did more research yesterday on the National Library Of Australia's Trove service (somewhere I haven't used before for theme park history research) & found this image of the maze:

Attraction in and near Surfers Paradise
Jamberoo Fan replied to pushbutton's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've only been to Timezone Gold Coast, SkyPoint, Infinity & Ripley's Believe It Or Not? - there are all good fun and SkyPoint provides stunning views. I've always wondered how Infinity works? @pushbutton, remember SkyPoint is owned by Ardent Leisure & is included in DW's annual passes. Is Timezone Gold Coast really 'the worlds biggest indoor entertainment complex'?- 17 replies

In the video, I don't know if there is more context prior to 09:30 that makes it more understandable but why does he say it will be built 'next year' before correcting himself to saying 'this year'? It's not going to be built before the end of 2016 unless he means financial years which would be before 30th June 2017? If he actually meant 2016 and there is no extra context needed, I wonder why he said it? -
@AlexB, I didn't 'attempt' to translate it - that's just how I read it but I acknowledge my initial interpretation was probably not what @jjuttp meant. By the way, you said you've been in Jamberoo's former maze - can you tell me more about it (particularly it's operating years & location in the park)? For a while, I've known Jamberoo had a maze but have found little information about it.

I refer to part of a post I made in that 'Sea World Expansion' topic: Here's an artist impression that was released today that shows very well how the development will look next to Sea World: A more panoramic version of the artist impression can be found here.

Kevil Hill: Zombie Evolution has also appeared on the maintenance page. The maintenance page says it is closed but the ride page implies it is open during school holidays. -
I completely forgot that the theming on The Perfect Storm's main Tornado can also be seen fully installed in their new TV commercial (I knew I saw it somewhere else) at the 9 second mark. Also, Jamberoo today released this season's Dive-In Movies schedule: 31st December 2016 – Minions 7th January 2017 – Inside Out 14th January 2017 – Home 21st January 2017 – The Good Dinosaur 28th January 2017 - The Peanuts Movie

Probably the latter. I saw the flame effects working on the top (and maybe inside) of the volcano & rode it for the 1st time prior to 2008.

Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback
Jamberoo Fan replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Inquests only occur if somebody died & if the Coroner thinks it is needed or if it is requested & the Coroner/District Court agrees with your request's reasoning. 3 and the QLD Government does do an annual audit on theme parks. As far as I know, Sea World & Wet 'n' Wild (and maybe Australia Zoo) have not released their safety audit findings to the public so we don't know that will end up being the case. In the end, the QLD Government may formally release the findings as they are going to review them. Remember, TRRR's investigation findings are not released yet. For all we know, DW may be at fault. -

I was doing comparisons of Scooby-Doo footage with the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster a while ago and it is extremely accurate. Some things have been moved around but it is very very accurate: The ride's exterior is very similar to the one in the movie (00:13) The room where Daphne kicks the door open is Spooky Coaster's station (00:19) The room Fred & Velma are originally in is the 1st section of the coaster (but with small drops) (00:36) The Bookcase Room is the part with the swinging axes so it is in the ride (01:15) 'The Dinner Show' (your 'Feast Room') would be nice to be included but I don't know how would you get the food to fly past onto the wall next to the carriage. I doubt that would happen. The ride was built based on the 2002 movie & re-theming it to another part of the franchise (new movie/original cartoons) may prove not only expensive but difficult (even though re-theming sounds relatively easy). -
I was only thinking of the track when referring to permanent infrastructure which I was imagining to be made of cement. Cement can be considered 'permanent'. 2 years ago. I was thinking the exact same thing! Dune buggies make more sense to me - it wouldn't require as much earthworks as go-karts would. They could operate on grass alone. @YLFATEEKS, see above for dune buggy opening date. With those prices, I wouldn't be surprised if the dune buggies never get used.

Bermuda Triangle is my favourite ride - I rode it for the 1st time in the late 2000's & it seemed like it operated as it did when it opened (based on people's descriptions who rode it in the mid-1990's). Unless my memory has made me forget, I didn't realise the twist that one of the recruiters was an alien - I was always confused as to why a human was in an alien world full of robots The only thing that I think didn't feature when I rode it but was there on opening day was the flame shooting out of the flume's exit out of the volcano (see photo from an archived SW website) - I was looking forward to the flame shooting 'out of the tunnel' as the 'research probe' went zooming past it. Can someone tell me if that featured when it opened in 1994?:

@Jordan M., I think they are complaining that your initial post was very vague - you don't write a topic title mentioning 'upcharge attraction' & have the 1st post not mention anything similar to that at all. It's like me writing a topic called 'New Sydney Theme Park Confirmed' and then posting 'Noticed some construction/earth works next to Wet 'n' Wild Sydney the other day in the space formerly occupied by some farms. Some shipping containers around too... I wonder what they have coming.'. There was no link to connect the 2 pieces of information together - the posts literally meant anything. And if the information is public, can you just show us or link us to it? @YLFATEEKS, I figured out the image you posted - why did you even post it in this topic though? Go-karts? Wouldn't that require permanent infrastructure?
