Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
downunder replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
You'd be surprised, Twister had some good airtime, and was a tight little coaster - I was really impressed, and I didn't expect to be. Honestly, I never hold my breath when it comes to Luna Park and new attractions. -
Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
downunder replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I really liked Twister at Gronalund, it's a super compact woodie that is a lot fun and would fit in well at Luna Park. Gronalund are the absolute masters of cramming rides in though they are perhaps not as constrained by litigious, NIMBY neighbours. -
I didn't notice anything last year. Of note, they had lights-on maze tours during the day, which are excellent. For that tour you need separate admission to the park and it wasn't an inclusion with the Ultimate Tour which only happened at night.
-
They did this for Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood years ago and the tope entries were amazing, this should be interesting.

Too many threads about mnew coasters is never enough. Get me on the first plane to the GC when this opens!!!!! In truth, I never really looked at the thread about the kiddie area and even know there was a mnew coaster going in lol.

Insidious was awesome at HHN Hollywood, I'm surprised they only did it one year. Might be due for a comeback this year, and I would view Insidious as a welcome addition to Fright Nights.
-
The 2 soundstage mazes were excellent last year, and I didn't mind the Ripper or the Clown one - and this is coming from someone who goes to HHN and Scary Farm every year. I'd say more of the same, with a bit more into the scare zones and maybe a decent show (I said a decent show), even something like the old Graveyard Revue at Universal. There seems like ample room for expansion, so here's hoping. And keep the ultimate tour and lights-on tour during the day, they were excellent.

A Hanging style show would be good, I've mostly enjoyed the Knott's Scary Farm Hanging over the years - though a fair amount of production would go into it. Last year's Fright Nights was my first, and I was fairly impressed. Though I did do the Ultimate Tour and also the lights-on tour during park hours.
-
That's a pretty good theory. I've seen it done before, Knott's used their bumper car area for a maze for years. It would be very suitable, and MW doesn't seem to mind major rides down in peak season so what's some dodgems cars in shoulder season.

Walygator is OK, the big point of difference is a Raptor clone B & M invert with no mid course brakes. Parc Asterix has some interesting stuff, Oziris was quite forceless, but it has a unique layout and great queue theming. The lines got quite scary during summer, though we were there on a Saturday (it was part of a tour) - luckily we had a VIP package with front of line passes. Frenchies lining up 3 hours for Goudurix in infernal heat, I pity the fools.

Pyjama Party @ Movieworld on Fri 14th Aug 2015
downunder replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sounds like fun, though the only pyjamas I've ever owned as an adult are Virgin and Qantas Business Class issue pyjamas - so I'd look like a right twat in those. -
Woman attacked by monkey at Movie World studios

Someone should spank that monkey, very naughty. Barnaby Joyce has offered to euthanize the offending animal personally. -
There's this girl who has been the ride op at Hair Raiser at Luna Park the last couple of times I've been there and I must say she is very fun and enthusiastic.

What American Park do YOu most want to visit?
downunder replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've been to all the parks in the list, so the one I haven't been to that I'd most like to: Lagoon - great coaster line-up, more traditional style park. Out of the parks I've been to that I'd most like to go back to: Knoebels or Six Flags New England. Parks at Halloween is another story altogether. I'm always happy to go back to Knotts Scary Farm, Universal Hollywood Halloween Horror Knights, Frightdome at Adventuredome. -
My Olympus had surly Eastern European seasonals for ride ops who took indifference and contempt for park visitors to new levels. They seemed to put the friendly ones in the retail outlets. Cedar Point has some good crews.

So same lame show, just with sponsor stuff all over it. The show is so tame, they drive like they are in rental cars with a $3000 excess on the insurance.

Luna Park Sydney- Future rides and attractions
downunder replied to Jobe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I said it in the other thread, but a Gerstlauer Bobsled might work, a small woodie like Twister at Gronalund could be a good fit. Maybe an indoor shooter would be fun. A haunted attraction, maybe not too labour intensive, might be fun. -
Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild
downunder replied to JulieLovis's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've been on a few Volares, they are awful. It's no surprise North Korea has one. A small woodie like Twister at Gronalund would be a nice addition, though the neighbours will always be unhappy. Maybe an indoor ride would be a good addition, though maybe more than LP would be willing to spend. A Gerstlauer bobsled spinning coaster would be cool. -
Is "Velikoluksky Meat-Packing Plant" the sponsor perhaps? I always snickered at Rita Queen of Speed (now changed) at Alton Towers, she sounds like the local meth dealer, or a right tart if you're riding her. That goes for all coasters with a girls name "I'm riding" Rita, Regina...

I rode Demon at Alabama Adventure lol, that boomerang gets around.
-
They just need to change those restraints, if you've got to have OTSR's (and they didn't always), get something like Lethal Weapon has now. I think it's a cool ride personally, I like the drops, and the interaction with the terrain, and the nostalgia - who could ever forget Rollercoaster (the movie) lol.

Luna Park Sydney - the future with Wet'n'Wild

^Especially when you've drunk a bottle of wine beforehand lol. I must say Gronalund's recently added woodie is excellent, that would be a nice, compact addition to LP. -

I've been on a few zacspins: Kirnu, Insane and Green Lantern and they're not for everyone. The half-pint version would fit well (like Kirnu). Not a fan myself. Maybe a disk-o would be a good addition. -
LA County Coroner has determined that the death was the result of natural causes. So sorry to see such a young life extinguished.
