  1. Sea World wouldn't be an option for this attraction, as it has a height restriction of 30m... Anything taller than Sea Viper is not an option really... Just because it's related to Superman doesn't mean anything in regards to Doomsday which IMO is a very poorly thought out attraction for the likes of Movie World, and i'd consider it to be a dead project. I wouldn't read anything into what Movie World posted on Facebook too much honestly, I'd just expect it could be a minor upgrade to the surrounding areas of the attraction to make it look nicer as they have already repainted all the supports for the ride. I'd assume next period of maintenance the tracks would get an overhaul along with maybe the exterior.
  2. I'd love to know what things you have seen, because I seriously doubt it's going to be coming to the park. It just doesn't fit with the park demographic really, or in the location suggested. You can keep imagining it happening, but I seriously doubt... and I am almost confident enough to say that it won't be coming to the park.
  3. I very much doubt it would be a Zamperla Energy Storm. We already have one that is travelling around Australia and if i'm not mistaken Zamperla have not made one since around 2006 - 2007.
  4. Adults could fit into the speedy's cars and drive them IF they had to... with great difficulty... same as the Taz Cars... when they died in the middle of the track. I would call it the "clench and squish" method. I'm 6ft 1 and if I can drive a speedy's taxi... anyone can* * Doesn't mean they should
  5. That looks like the O'neills wave swinger that used to travel...
  6. I honestly don't know how it happened on Pandamonium but it actually did. I'd say it was likely the motor on the arm seized up and locked the gondola in place. I was in the park when it happened, but it truly is a bit confusing as to how it occurred.
  7. Oh my god... exactly this. Speedy's taxi's and Taz Cars were quite possibly my least favourite rides to operate. I even broke my Ankle operating Taz Cars... RoadRunner was a fun ride to operate, I remember with a supervisor getting more people per hour than the manual stated was possible... (2 trains, no stacking) and then after we broke the record the ride faulted on the lift... I think the worst shift was: 9:15am - 12:45pm SAM TRAIN Break 1:30pm - 2:45pm SPEEDYS Break 3:00pm - Close: TAZ CARS I always wanted to cry when I had that shift... those damn ropes on sam train and the blisters...but fun when it derails in the middle of summer...
  8. Here's hoping the cars are more reliable than Speedy's Taxis...

  10. Looks like track from a Wacky Worm or Pinfari style coaster... perhaps it could be the old Metropolis coaster from Luna Park Melbourne?
  11. Looks great, and even better in person! Would love to see them repaint the track next time it goes down for rehab though to complete the look.
  12. So... if the ride is currently a light blue colour, they could be bringing the ride back to it's ORIGINAL colour scheme... Would sure be a nice throwback to the Dreamworld of the 90's.
  13. I rode Scooby Doo yesterday, the green laser was working the music was loud and they even had fog throughout the whole room. There was that much fog running that it even filled the "ring of fire" scene... and then about 15 minutes later the ride broke down haha. Some things never change with me and that ride. Honestly it was probably running the best that it had ran in over a year that i've seen it yesterday.
  14. I'd honestly much prefer a Power Surge ride to a Starfliers... unless it was a decent height one (More than 50m or so). If they were to go for one smaller than that i'd actually prefer they went with a more classic looking Wave Swinger model. My opinion on the Starfliers is unless you are going for a real big one (such as the New England Sky Screamer at SFNE) it wouldn't be as effective... can you imagine Dreamworld building one that was the same height as the current Dreamworld tower?!
  15. Speedy's Taxi's need to be burnt down... i'll supply the petrol and the matches too and i'll even do it for free! Biggest hunk of crap ride around (especially to operate... I had the bruises to prove it!)
  16. I'd say most likely not if it was a free VIP pass...
  17. Kind of disappointed they are throwing out Carnivale and Gold upgrades for free again... they really should be trying to start offering these passes for a premium price as they ARE a premium offering...
  18. They only walk the areas that have the catwalks. Maintenance staff would do full track walks though, but I wouldn't be 100% on the frequency of these or how they actually do them. Operations staff would walk all the catwalk areas which staff would utilise in general operation + the lifts and dark ride sections.
  19. Scooby Doo had a track walk every single morning starting at 9:15am. Staff and a supervisor would do a walk of the ride with the SFX on to make sure all the audio cues etc would work and if anything wasn't working they would write it down and alert AV so it could be fixed. They would also check for any obstructions in the emergency exits and make sure all the harness points etc were in good condition and to turn on the fog machines (if they worked...) Superman is much the same for the dark ride portion of the ride. As far as the external parts of rides like Superman and Arkham go I wouldn't be sure how often they get done. I do know Bolliger and Mabillard steel coasters have a "Maintenance Ball" that can be driven the whole way round a track to inspect it. Photo courtesy of themeparkreview.com
  20. I think what's more sad is the 2nd theft actually happened to a staff member. A few weeks before this their hub caps were stolen from the MW carpark and now that this has happened... I really think VRTP need to consider doing something as this is just becoming pathetic now.
  21. Filming didn't start until about 8:15am for the TVC, and it was not for Carnivale at all it's for the new VIP pass commercial
  22. Yes, they are the supervisors behind the main control panel and are actually a different pay rate to the normal ride operators on the floor of the attractions. Although with some of the rides they actually don't push any buttons at all whilst the ride is in operation unless there is a fault with the ride (scooby doo and wild west falls in particular) but when there is a fault... that's when they really come into play, oh and watching the millions of cameras. Most of the supervisors of the attractions are ones that started as a entry level position and worked the way up the ladder but are occasionally external staff too, but but before they get behind the main panel they have to do cast shifts on the ride to make sure they know the in's and outs of all procedures etc.
  23. Generally you'd start at around 8am and read through a heap of procedures first, then go for a walk through the ride before the park opens... and then you would be buddied up with someone and be shown how to do the job... then you'd do it sort of thing. Some rides would only take a day of training (Wild West Falls, Batwing, Arkham Asylum, Justice League) and others like Superman, WBK / RoadRunner would take 2 - 3 days. Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster was by far the most intensive training out of all the rides, and normally only more "senior" staff get trained on that ride. I know when I was trained on Scooby Doo I had two "High Zone Training" mornings which were from 7:00am - 9:15am where you would do a track walk and 2 simulated evacuations in the higher levels and two in the lower levels to make sure you know how to use the harnesses etc as it's quite a high risk role. And then there were 2x buddy days from 8am - 5:30pm. In training you go through the evacuation procedures, fire procedures etc. It's a very quick process but honestly it's very thorough the way they do things. Honestly it's one of the things I found Village Roadshow did really well and that was the training. Scooby Doo even has a script as well for when your doing evacuations because it's so complex
  24. There are multiple reasons Wild West Falls doesn't operate at night. I think it was the 2008 - 2009 Fright Night's they operated it for a night and it didn't run a 2nd time. They had a fire alarm go off that night (not a real fire either... just a false alarm) and had to evacuate the ride. The path around the back of the ride is hazardous as it is during day time, i'd hate to have to be evacuating that ride at night time. They also had to get a heap of flood lights in the ride just to operate at night time so the camera's could see people clear enough to be safe. Sadly people are idiots and try to jump out of boats even during the day... rowdy teenagers that have had a few drinks at club blood... yeah it's really not a good mix.
  25. So wait, if you exit through the entrance doors on Cyclone now do you also enter their or from the exit? I'm just trying to picture how it works...
