Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback

Because everyone's interpretation of 'scary' is different. For me, inversions aren't scary at all. I'll happily go on Arkham Asylum and Green Lantern a dozen times over without question. But with Superman Escape, I find being launched down a tunnel to 100kmh in just 2 seconds to be a very intense experience which I have to build up courage to endure. Not everyone handles that "leave your stomach behind in the station" feeling very well. -
Roller Coaster Crash at Alton Towers
Theme Park Girl replied to iwerks's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Came across this article today, and thought it was a good read. Has a detailed breakdown of everything going that happened that day, and exactly how the accident occurred - essentially all due to a communication breakdown over an extra train being added to the track. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/alton-towers-smiler-rollercoaster-crash-8897449 Very sad to think it could have very easily been avoided. Heaven knows the ride system itself tried to prevent the incident from taking place, but it's safety system was manually overridden ETA: Snap @reanimated35, you got in a few seconds before I did ? -

@MaxxTheMonster have you seen the vid I uploaded to my blog from the closing performance? Not sure what the track is, but at least there's another one there to identify and add to the list ?? https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1994042437489129&id=1908665459360161 Sorry it's glitchy btw, I had a mere 4% battery power on my phone whilst I was recording it, was down to 1% by the time I finished. So it seemed to have affected the quality ? -

Unfortunately no! By the time we considered going to ride it, it has closed already We did see it running earlier on, though. Could have been just us, but we swear it looked faster than normal? Lol, funny you mentioned that, DJ. Gave me instant flashbacks to the VIP lounge, where we had to eat under dark red lighting. Was awesome for the atmosphere, but omg, first time trying to eat a full plate of buffet food in such poor light. Even harder to take pics, especially selfies haha. @JaggedJanine and I had fun trying ??? -

Actually now that you mention it, I guess that was one aspect that could be improved on for future nights. I made the mistake of streaming live to my blog whilst we were being herded down main street to be positioned for the parade. Needless to say, the outcome of the live stream was interesting, to say the least ?? Whoops! ? Also @MaxxTheMonster re. the parking, just do what I always do for these events and park up in the grassed overflow area. It took me literally a couple of minutes to get out from there, just had to wait until some peeps decided to cross the crosswalk and stop the northern flow of traffic, and I was home bound ? I guess that would be my other suggestion to MW, to heavily consider bring traffic control back again, if they haven't already got it organised for upcoming nights. Was very surprised there were none on last night when it was a sold out evening - they did for Carnivale and White Xmas last year which seemed to be a great response to the traffic nightmares last year. I have a feeling that not having any on last night didn't turn out to be the best idea, given the usual carpark chaos was going on when I left (peeps who parked up the northern end preventing the peeps parked down the southern end from exiting) I'm confident that this will all be ironed out over coming weeks, as it usually is. All just first night teething issues atm ? Wow. I haven't seen ANY of the movies the mazes are about, other than maybe Friday the 13th (and even that was a skipthrough, as I only watched it as a teen for one scene that my movie crush at the time was in lol). That said, I usually do a quick read-up on Wikipedia beforehand to familiarise with storyline first. But yeah, otherwise I haven't seen any of them ?? Still thoroughly enjoy the mazes, though!!!! Each to their own, I guess. I skipped through most of that clip, found the performance to be rather boring. But then again, the dance party didn't really appeal to me personally either, even though clearly it did to many there last night. That said, I didn't mind watching all the action from the outside of the mosh pit, hahaha At the end of the day, everyone has different tastes, so it's hard to please everyone too. Perhaps a better idea to be explored is focusing on is keeping different styles in different precincts. The dance party finale may have been better suited to the Gotham Hall precinct where they had the DJ playing? I'll have to have a think, lol. -

Wow, I'm a bit sad to see all the negativity so far! Personally I had an absolute blast last night, more so than I did last year when I attended with the wrong crowd and missed most of the goings on. I acknowledge that there were some teething issues, especially in a couple of the secret maze rooms where camera and props weren't working, but honestly I felt the rest of the night made up for it. At least it did for me, anyway ?? Absolutely loved the Conjuring 2 maze, so much that we went back and did it a second time. I loved the sets in there, and the fact it had progressing storyline, other than just random events happening. I thought it was a massive improvement over the Wolf Creek 2 maze that was in there last year, which tbh I didn't think much of. The Wyrmwood maze was awesome again this year as well, that was my fave out of the two I did last year. Still get seriously creeped out by the dude in the yellow contamination suit. Thank God there were no attacking bushes this year ?? I thought the Friday the 13th maze was a bit short, however I think they got the most scares out of me with that one (Jason Vorhees running past the queue with a machete got me every time, haha). The Dusk Till Dawn maze was probably my least favourite out of the four as it seemed a bit tamer than all the others, but I did love that they went with a vampire theme for one of them this year ? The Pendleside Occult Museum VIP Tour was creepy (as others here would know, I was on edge the entire time throughout, knowing something bad was gonna happen, but not sure what) ? Not gonna spoil it, but it had some great unexpected special effects - one big obvious one in particular which they clearly went to a bit of effort to add. Nice little touch having that as an addition to the tour ? It was my first time doing the Ultimate Terror Tour, and I thought it was worth every cent alone just to have fast track for nearly everything. This is one thing where I went wrong last year, as I attended as general admission on Halloween (the final night) and spent half the night queued up for mazes and didn't get to do any rides. My only complaint is that the fast track didn't include Arkham Asylum, my fave Coaster, as I really wanted to experience it at night. Wasn't worth the lengthy 1hr queue wait, though, especially when there was quality time to be had elsewhere with what the fast track did work on. Had one ride on SE, GL & SDSC. Went back to do SE a second time just after 8.30pm, but it had closed. The buffet food was awesome, mainly the hot food. Yummy roast, veges, pasta, salad etc. Found there were a little too many lolly offerings for my liking for the dessert table, as someone who doesn't really like lollies and prefers stuff like trifles, cakes, mousses etc, as per what they have on offer at Rick's. The choc fountain was great ? Loved being able to go back to the VIP Lounge whenever I wanted to chill, have a bite and a much needed cold drink - especially after the mazes, which always gave me an incredibly dry mouth for some reason (maybe the fog machines?) ? We got special collector 'I Survived the Ultimate Terror Tour' badges to keep, which were handed out with our lanyards. Looks great next to my MW 25th anniversary Star Tour one ?? All in all I had a fantastic evening, despite some of the little teething issues which I am sure will be ironed out on subsequent nights. I look forward to doing it all again this season, at least one more time, if not more! I'd attend every night that Fright Nights was on, if it were an option to me ?? Wasn't that the point of them building the two new sheds? So that they don't have to rely on using the sound stages for Fright Nights mazes? I was under the impression that they probably wouldn't utilise them again in future, now that they have made their own substitutes which are available 24/7. -

A little birdie told me that @reanimated35 was still up at 1am as well, currently functioning through his marathon MW day on a mere 4 hours of sleep. Hope you guys have your caffeine supplies ready, you're both gonna be absolutely wrecked by 10pm tonight ?? -

A discount merchandise shop ? -
Aww, thanks for the support guys ❤️ Hopefully I'll find something else soon. I gave myself the day off today to try to de-stress a bit, especially since I got barely any sleep last night. Tomorrow I'll be jumping into the job hunting when I'm feeling a bit better. Thanks Brad. I wish, haha! ?? Aww, its ok @Zanstabar. The water's getting warm, so you might as well swim ?

Just wanted to apologise for my lack of contribution on here over the past week, despite the fact that others have been doing a great job at keeping everyone updated. I've been dealing with a major personal situation - my job, to be exact, which I resigned from today - which has obviously been my utmost priority right now, especially when I have to focus on finding a replacement asap. My initial plan was to find a new one before resigning, but unfortunately the escalating issues there just became too much in the end. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders today by pulling out of my current one, as I felt it had been draining the life out of me lately. As much as I quite obviously love the parks, I've not been able to focus on them as much as I usually do because of this ordeal, let alone find the spare time for a visit. I'll still be attending on Saturday evening for the Ultimate Terror Tour. So yeah, sorry guys for letting you down on my side of things ?

Haha @MaxxTheMonster, here, try this. Better angle ?? -
Not sure. But I don't think there's any major work to be done on the ride, mainly just fine tuning with the technical side of things, from what I've seen. So I don't think it would take them long to finish bringing it up to speed. I reckon they would likely definitely get it all done before school and the GC 600.

On another note, with only a couple of days until FN16 kicks off, I wonder when the Panic Rooms are gonna be revealed and subsequently go on sale? -
Yikes! Glad I decided to give today a miss. I knew it would be crazy busy this week, given that 4 other states have now started school holidays as well. That's why I put out a theme park edition of school holiday survival on my blog yesterday morning, haha

Yeah, I reckon they are just spacing it out from the DC Super-Villains area opening which only just happened over the weekend, as not to take any of the limelight off of it and have too much new stuff happening at once. -
Ahhh never mind. Misread something! Carry on

@ClassifiedLlama If you're considering forking out for fast track for mazes at $45 each, have you consider paying extra and doing the Ultimate Terror Tour instead? Includes fast track for all four mazes & most of the rides, plus all the added benefits of unlimited VIP lounge access (buffet and drinks), behind the scenes tour, plus lots of extras. I think it was $139 for that night, from memory when I booked it. Which would work out to be the better value if you're prepared to pay extra to speed things up that night. Personally I think that's the better value option as opposed to paying for separate fast tracks for mazes and/or rides, and you guaranteed won't be waiting in lines all night. Everyone I know who has done this tour has absolutely raved about it ETA: Actually after just reading the Fast Track maze info, I've realised its $45 for one entry to each maze, not one entry per maze lol! Ah well, still definitely worth considering the UTT anyway, even if it costs a lot more. I'm doing my first one this year and can't wait -

I have seen lots of Movie World ads played recently on local free to air TV (most recently on Go! Gold Coast), they have just mainly been later in the evening. Saw the latest Doomsday one a handful of times over the weekend around 9-10pm, both a short and a full version. They then changed to ones for Fright Nights (Conjuring 2 maze) at 11pm, which have been getting absolutely flogged late at night for a week or two now - at least once per ad break.
