Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion

Yeah. That must explain why they started going to the trouble of testing it for months following that incident, because they had concluded it wasn't feasible to reopen. Makes perfect sense *facepalm* -
Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
Theme Park Girl replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The link to the top 10 list above is for 2015 winners, determined by the overall rating as submitted by reviews on individual pages. That's why I am confused, as I read Mark's comment but couldn't recall seeing Adventure World listed when it was published late last year. I figured it would have appeared in the top 10 list if it was trending as the most popular in Australia/South Pacific at any stage, even if for just one month. Although I don't doubt for a second that he and his staff have and continue to work very hard at making it a worthy opponent. I haven't been to Adventure World before, let alone WA, so I can't form a first hand opinion. But I do know that our GC parks are a force to be reckoned with in Australia alone. So to see them dominating the list, including for the #1 spot, does not surprise me in the slightest. -

Hey guys, what are the VRTP like atm? The usual chaotic school holiday crowds? Or, if events at other venues of late are anything to go by, a bit quieter than usual? A little strapped for cash atm after Xmas and NYE, was thinking of taking the kids since its free entertainment, but don't want to be battling through crowds or waiting hours for rides. Any input from anyone who has visited in past few days would be great. Cheers ??

Wtf... that was seriously posted on the Wikipedia page? My head hurts reading it. Wikipedia is intended to be a source of education, not a place for posting random and throwaway personal descriptions or opinions of any sort. Don't even get me started on the blatant lack of spelling, grammar and punctuation in that paragraph. In future I strongly suggest leaving it to the Wiki experts.

If it's at $50p/h like my husband gets paid on average for his DJ gigs, you wouldn't be complaining ? Mind you, he actually does work hard for it... there is a lot more involved than meets the eye for legitimate DJs. Beat mixing, key mixing, editing etc. to keep things running consistently. There is a lot of homework involved behind the scenes. Anyhoo...!!! From what I have heard, Dreamworld have been using the same DJ business for their functions for many years now, although with a recent change of marketing management that may also change as well in future. Who knows... ?

Unfortunately as of tomorrow our Dreamworld passes will have expired ??? So no... looks like our ride on the Hot Wheels coaster will have to wait. I think it all looks great, but I am standing by my opinion that a fresh coat of new, bolder paint colours on the track really would have done wonders, not to mention it would have helped to make it stand out more to passing traffic on the M1.

White Christmas 2015
Theme Park Girl replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I strongly second this suggestion! We got there around the same time and were issued our wristbands at the front gate. We went straight for GL and got 2 rides in (one each) as there was virtually no line by that time, as all the day crowds were leaving. Then we went over to SE and hubby got a ride of that in before they started roping off for White Christmas. All we had to do then was show our wristbands and jump over from one side of the rope to the other to line up for the evening event (which started at 5.30pm)☺ But getting there early made for 3 extra rides with short to no queues, and also a total of 5 hours in the park instead of the usual 3 -
White Christmas 2015
Theme Park Girl replied to Jay Jay The Jet Plane's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Absolutely loved our first MW White Christmas event tonight!!! The kids had an absolute ball. We ended up doing the buffet which I agree was well worth the $$$, the food was delicious and oh so filling It was a fantastic family night out all in all, will definitely be back to do it again next year! Big thumbs up from me Yep they had traffic directors out again tonight! The car park was still a bit madhouse with cars beeping at each other and a bit of aggression, but it was nothing like Fright Nights with cars being held up on one side for over an hour... at least all sides were taking turns this time round. Thank you Movieworld for listening to customer feedback, very wise move!!! Scooby was open and operating when we went past it around 7.30pm.... the line was all the way to the outdoor queuing area, so we didn't bother. Hubby managed to get on Superman Escape whilst the parade was on, however. Must have been about a 20 minute wait? Not too bad. I learnt from my mistake at FN and we parked on the grass up back right next to the exit road LOL! So all we had to do was indicate and wait for a kind person to let us in be off on our merry way.... of course the latter didn't happen, there were no kind people tonight. So a slight bit of passive aggression on our part (we got beeped at anyway, hahaha XD) got us outta there quick smart Meh... I'd rather be beeped at and be outta there in 2 minutes, rather than sit around for 80 minutes trapped in the car park like last time round Here are some of my pics from the night... -
Just thought I'd mention too that we are here at White Christmas and GL IS open and fully operational for it
-
Just rode GL again, first time in 3 years!!! Love it... so much fun but not as intense as its bigger brothers, which is a welcome change ? Def back to being one of my faves ❤❤❤

Theme Parks All-In-One have uploaded a video of the GL back in action this afternoon https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1674573556119970&id=1638746269702699

No, but there is nothing stopping us from going into the park beforehand to check it out ?

MW website still says the same thing. Unless they just haven't updated it yet. Going to White Christmas tomorrow evening, so crossing fingers and toes that it will be open! !!!!!!!!!! It's true ??? ?????

That said, it is worth mentioning that Movieworld has 2 superhero themed areas.... the Gotham City cafe, complete with Gotham Hall & Batmobile/Batbike is fairly distanced away from the rest of the DC rides & area. It has been that way for years and they have done very little to change it. So Dreamworld isn't alone in that sense. Yes some bright, vibrant track colours to match the bright, vibrant new toy-themed train I thought would have been a no brainer on DW's part. The current pale yellow & blue just doesn't quite cut it in that sense, sadly....

Sorry Leviathan, but as a former Sea World employee twice over I gotta second what others are saying here about the busiest period being POST Christmas. I recall it was always Boxing Day & the following day (26th) which were expected to be - and usually were - the busiest day for theme parks ☺ I did 3 Christmasses with them in total, and it always went nuts from the final week of the year. In fact last year, Sea World didn't actually roster me to start my seasonal stint with them until the 19th December, and my week of training followed that! They also got me to finish up on 18th January, so according to them that was the end of the busy holiday period. Mind you, their busiest days last year (26th/27th) crashed because of heavy rain, so maybe that early finish for seasonal staff was due to the "downturn of seasonal attendances" as well ??

Still nothing? QLD school holidays officially started yesterday. Thought GL would be well and truly in action by now ???

Oh we know allllll about that... it was the "Eurekagate" of Parkz earlier in the year ??? -
New rides are bound to have teething problems. Look how many times the Tailspin had to undergo maintenance in its first year or two... I swear it spent more time closed than open during our visits at the start of the year ?
