Yeah. As is the Tailspin which is only a thrill ride by option. Go figure ? -
Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Theme Park Girl replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hmmm.... not sure if this is a good or bad sign in regards to Eureka. Unless they aren't intending to market it as a thrill ride if it does reopen. Either that or 2016 may not be "the" year for it, afterall.... it could be later. Who knows. Thought this DW response was worth a share anyway. -
Any news on GL's reopening? I thought I read/heard somewhere that it was supposed to be before the Xmas school holidays, which start in just over a week. So if that's true, it should be up and running again by the end of next week?

If it was my guess, he is saying he sometimes dresses up as Alex the lion, aka the Madagascar costume character? Dunno about the rest tho ? -

Ditto. I actually hated the damn thing back in the day, a little too rough for me with all the sudden jolts and turns ? Alas, the nostalgia of my childhood, coupled with my new love for coasters as an adult, is fueling my excitement over the return of this ride one day. -

VRTP used to phone new recruits, but have since changed their tact... they emailed me to offer me my part time position at Xmas last year, and to accept it I had to email them back. No phone calls involved. They then forwarded another email with all the necessary forms & information. I then did my 2 hour WPHS course online with the login details they supplied me with via email. I didn't actually have verbal/face-to-face interaction with them until a month later for my group orientation, and then another 2 weeks after that when I actually started! It was a very staggered process. Dreamworld may very well be the same these days ? -

I believe I already shared my opinion on this matter. Respect it. Just be weary dude that if recent years are anything to go by, it will most likely *only* be a temporary seasonal job. I went back to SW with the intention of securing an ongoing position like I did the first time around. I was employed as a part timer and worked my ass off over the 4 weeks total I was there, I was still doing nearly 40 hour weeks. I was given a glowing review by my outlet manager (he loved that he didn't need to retrain me because I already knew what to do from last time round) and had also notified them of my willingness to stay on and full availability to do so. Alas, they let go of EVERYONE new come the end of January, their reasoning being due to a "downturn in seasonal attendances". A couple of school based trainees did stay on, but that's it. And I was told by one of my former workmates from my original employment period (she's still working there lol) that they have been doing it every year now. She actually warned me about it beforehand and I hadn't taken her seriously, as I was confident I would be kept on like last round. Alas.... nope. My boss was gutted they didn't keep me on and he and a couple of my workmates actually got quite angry about it (ie. They let go of the good ones and keep the cheap school based ones) I was strongly encouraged by my boss and workmates to reapply for Easter holidays, but I immediately secured another permanent job before I had even left SW post Xmas, so I haven't gone back. I'm happy where I am now anyway, its a lot more comfortable working in air con over summer! So yeah, just a big heads up that if my experience is anything to go by, it may more than likely be only a temporary position and not to get too excited over the possibility of ongoing employment if that's what you're hoping for. -

You're welcome ☺ I just added to that post about having previous Sea World experience, so don't feel too disheartened if you haven't heard back yet. If I remember right, they said at the group interview that it generally can take up to a week to get a response. They do have a lot of people to employ over the Xmas season, afterall! ?? -

Ok just checked my Facebook for last year and yeah, group interview was on the Thurs and I heard back the following Monday at lunchtime! So it was actually within less than 2 business days ☺ However I did have previous experience with them (I worked at Sea World for 2 years back in 2004-2006) so they may have pounced a bit quicker, knowing that ? -

Hey Ginni, I worked at Sea World over the Christmas period last year. If I remember right, the group interview session at Movieworld was held on a Thursday evening and I think I heard back from them midway through the following week. So it was only about 3-4 business days? They sent me out an email offering me a position and attached the relevant paperwork, login details for the online training etc. Hope that helps Good luck!!!! -
'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
Theme Park Girl replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not to mention MW also had a Lethal Weapon themed rollercoaster for many years. That movie series is hardly family friendly, nor did anyone really consider it to be a movie worthy of its own ride. Alas, apparently anything is indeed possible! Tbh though the Mad Max movies don't really interest me, I've yet to sit through a full one. So I am hoping its a different theme. I loved the Jurassic World idea more, but yeah, I have a strong feeling that franchise is tightly locked into Universal Studios parks. Tbh I have nfi. I just hope its not another DC themed ride ? -
Photo my hubby took of the room setup in Scooby Doo castle on Thurs nite. How cool

How exciting!!!! Can't see a flat ride getting a title like this. Has to be something heaps bigger! Crossing my fingers and toes for a new decent rollercoaster or dark ride -
Very cool, Mickey! Love the pics ☺ And glad to see those water jetpack things are making a comeback to the jet stunt extreme show too. Had noticed their absence in it recently and wondered why ?

Slightly jealous of my husband, he's a professional DJ by trade and regularly does jobs at Movieworld via the contract of the mobile DJ business he gets frequent work through. Most of them have been out on the MW main street... weddings, awards nights etc. Anyway, the lucky bugger is DJ'ing a Yr12 formal in the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster castle tonight!!! Couldn't think of a cooler place to have a formal lol ??? Lucky kids, too. Apparently they get full use of the ride as part of the evening. I might have actually bothered going to mine back in the day, had it been somewhere awesome like that ???

More test cycles today, but just empty carts. GL light is also remaining on. Tried to get a pic of it but the LEDs are playing tricks on my camera lol.

Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
Theme Park Girl replied to DJKostya's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lol I just spotted the same story in my FB news feed and came online to post the same thing. Lucky I didn't, otherwise there would be three threads ??? Seriously though, the more theme parks, the better. If it happens it will be awesome. Will keep my fingers and toes crossed ??? -
Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition
Theme Park Girl replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It has probably been in existence since the MW opened 24 years ago, just in different locations. Even though as far as I remember it has clearly been marked on the park map. I remember when Seaworld had theirs in the small building near the Sea Lion arena entrance. Used to walk past it everyday to/from work. These days its used for animal adventures. No idea where the prayer room been relocated to now, I'm assuming somewhere near the park entrance. Not that I really care anyway as it really doesn't bother me the way it does others ?
