Oooooo sounds awesome I can't wait. We haven't been to any of the after dark events yet

Yep, I too believe it was scrapped. Creatures of the Deep was likely its replacement attraction. Which I'm happy with, as I disliked the Wild concept to begin with (ie. having jungle animals in an ocean themed park)

Anything new happening at MovieWorld?
Theme Park Girl replied to Linus1995's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Honestly I just want to see them do something with that abandoned Wild West ghost town area. Drives me nuts every time I walk past it, so much wasted potential! I'd love to see a new western show go in the theater. I love the idea of a mine ride of some sort being added, would be perfect! Although they would need a fair bit of room for that (maybe the demolition of said theater lol). As for Chinatown Alley, why not do the same as what Southport has with theirs? And also what Dreamworld did earlier in the year for their Chinese New Year celebrations.... Chinese & oriental food stalls and what not. That's if they decided to keep the existing theme, despite the related Lethal Weapon theme being retired. Totally agree. It has just become another large, abandoned area of the park you have to awkwardly walk through. MW definitely need to pull their finger out and do something with these opportunistic areas going to complete waste atm :/ -
Roller Coaster Crash at Alton Towers
Theme Park Girl replied to iwerks's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Exactly!!! It happened with the Mindbender, and that thing originally killed 3 people Now it has held a perfect safety record for 30 years... -
Wtf.... I read the first post and was immediately confused, I thought for a split second that this incident had happened again Only to realize that it is a super old article!!! Talk about misleading Not cool, dude... there really was no need to copy/paste an old article (let alone start a new thread when there is an existing one about this) just to add your 2c on the matter. ETA: At the very least if you insist on sharing an old article, you could have at least kept the original date on it so it's immediately obvious to first readers that it's old.

We went there yesterday morning (Sun) during the first weekend of the school holidays and it wasn't all that busy at all, at least nothing out of the ordinary for a usual Sunday. Queues were reasonable. It was Movieworld that was packed out that afternoon, we didn't get to ride anything whilst there because of the huge lines (1-2 hour waits) :/

Ken at Dreamworld is amazing, no matter what ride he is working on. So entertaining. He's great value ???

I have to say, after visiting DW this morning and seeing the new ABCkids area, I'm fairly impressed with the effort and money spent on this area of the park. It's bright and colourful and cheery. I also love the creative aspects like the giant iceblocks, the paintbrushes/paint tube area, the button seats etc.... the theming is great My kids loved exploring all the new aspects of this area, along with all the nice licks of paint on everything else One thing I do feel sorry for though, and that's the ride attendants of the new Hoot 'n' Hop ride. It has its own somewhat annoying theme song which plays whilst the ride is in operation, with Hoot & Hootabelle singing. I can imagine many of them will be hearing it repeating in their head as they try to sleep at night, after hearing it play over and over all day at work LOL. Oi! Not all chicks take 2 hours to get ready to go out. It only takes me like 15 minutes... I don't bother with makeup and fashion and all that lol. I just chuck on a pair of pants and a shirt, give my hair a quick brush, chuck on some shoes and off I go

Strangely enough though, it was Movieworld's fault that the line was spilling out onto the road. They had most of the outdoor queue area roped off. No idea what it was like on the inside of the castle, didn't get that far... tried to walk in through the main doorway, only to be told that I had to go join the back of the outdoor line (which I didn't realise was actually a line for the ride at the time)

Well we are home from a couple of hours at MW, and yeah, holy heck it was a bit busy. In the entire time we were there we only got to see Rio 4D (something we hadn't done previously, seemed as good a time as any lol) and the parade. Seriously, the queue lines were crazy. Even the ones for the kiddy rides... the Pounce N Bounce line was all the way back to the big tree, and the one for Road Runner RC snaked all the way around to its observation area We didn't even bother going in there to see the rest, seemed like a waste of time lol. We were hoping to at least go on JL on the way out of the park post-parade, but yeah, given the wait was all the way out to the outside queue area, we changed our minds pretty quick. The wait for Scooby Doo was insane, well over 60 minutes. At the time we walked past (about 2pm) it came out of the side of the castle and spilled onto the main road, as you can see in my pic below. The girl wearing grey and black between the two women in stripy tops is near the end of the line Kinda wish we'd stayed at Dreamworld for the rest of the day now, given it was a lot less crowded there and queue lines were nowhere near as long/bad

It definitely looks like they are currently doing some kind of maintenance work on GL. Lots of hardware, safety things and bits n bobs around the floor of the ride atm. There's even one of those wheelie things that mechanics use to slide under cars...
-
Ahh bugger. We were bored at home and decided to park hop after reading that other post. Having lunch across the road atm and about to head to MW. Sounds like it wasn't such a good idea afterall ??? Funnily enough we spent the morning at DW and it wasn't overly busy there. More like a regular Sunday than a school holiday ?
-
Even during at the beginning of the SH? My family and I were intending to avoid them as much as possible over the next few weeks. Very surprised to hear of 15 minute waits for Superman Escape on the opening weekend of QLD school holidays, especially given last weekend it was easily a 1hr wait. Then again, they only had one train running at the time :/ I'd still expect it to be a lot busier with queues and delays though, given its peak period for all the parks atm... What were the queues for the other rides like? Scooby? Arkham (assuming its reopened now from annual maintenance) etc?
-
Depends. If it's in 2 weeks then school holidays will still be in effect for some states. I know WA starts theirs NEXT week. So it could still very well be busy. I wouldn't count on having the opportunity to ride anything more than once without having to queue for it. Usually OUtSIDE of the school holidays, on weekdays, the parks are fairly quiet. We regularly take the kids after school for an hour or so midweek, and during/after the parade there is next to no queues for anything - everyone tends to watch the parade and then leave in droves afterwards

What American Park do YOu most want to visit?
Theme Park Girl replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, I know. But Orcas are my favourite animal and it's my only opportunity of seeing a live one. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. -

Theme Park Girl replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's a tie between Universal Studios Hollywood, Six Flags Magic Mountain & SeaWorld San Diego.... but if I had to preference it would probably be in that order! My dream holiday would involve going to all three ??? -
Wow I don't remember any of those details from attending the opening week of the original ToT. Although I was only a teen at the time, so yeah, my memory isn't the best lol. I do however remember lining up for the ride outside the Skull when it was in the Escape From Madagascar area... was a crazy 2 hour wait from that point ??? I think I vaguely recall the "looking down at the city from the bridge" bit, too. Thanks Zanstabar for the flashback lol :)

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Theme Park Girl replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
There was someone a few pages back who claimed to have POV footage of the ride on VHS and intended to share it with us once they had converted it. Not sure what the outcome of that was, though :/ ETA: It was here: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/topic/6757-eureka-mountain-mine-ride-2015-potential-reopening/?do=findComment&comment=107362 -
Hahaha yeah I'm slightly addicted. I love theme parks! You wouldn't think I work 30+ hour weeks in between, would you ??? I spend most of my days off at them. I admit Movieworld has grown on me again too, since renewing our VIP passes. Usually we tend to avoid the parks on weekends since they are fairly hectic (yesterday was no exception, 30-45 min waits for most rides, inc. the kiddy ones :/) but I had a friend and her family visiting from out of town, so we put our "bring a friend for free" passes to good use lol We spotted the new activity on the Green Lantern from the car park on the way out.
-
Errr... The first one I think....
-
Finally spotted some signs of activity with the Green Lantern this afternoon at MW... a couple of maintenance guys in blue jumpsuits walking around inside the enclosure under & around the ride. Looks like one of the trains is in a different spot too, on the track just before the station. So yeah, hopefully a sign that some more progress is being made in regards to the investigation.
-
I'll tell you what, this afternoon was a great one to visit Movieworld. Miserable cold rainy weather all day, but we decided to take the kids after school anyway, figured what the hell, there's indoor rides lol. The park was dead, car park was fairly empty! The parade was on when we arrived, so we went straight to Scooby Doo. Quite literally walked right onto it (they were sending empty trains around!) and chuffed at our luck lol. The ride attendant said that it had been like that on and off all day - they only had 1500 through the gates today. Also walked straight onto Justice League. Hubby rode Superman Escape 3 times in a row. Kids also walked onto a lot of the kiddy rides. Not bad for only an hour and a half of park time lol. Winning! Comes to show that if you are happy to withstand a bit of bad weather on an off peak, winter weekday afternoon, you will be rewarded with what almost feels like having a theme park all to yourself ???

Every time I have visited, the GL has just been sitting dormant and looking somewhat abandoned. Certainly no activity going on there this arvo, and no visual differences. The logo light also remained off when we left after 5.
