Just thought I'd share a few piccies I took first thing this morning ☺️ Prices are pretty reasonable, $9.99 for a tub of mixed flavours which you choose yourself from the wall. They have the Bamboozled (prank) ones available as well lol. I think the new store is a nice little addition to Dreamworld 😆👍

What is a Hypercoaster?
Theme Park Girl replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ that's how I see it as well. I assume that when most people label a rollercoaster being a specific type, they generally go by what they see in front of them... typical trademark traits such as the style of the track, inversions, general height and length etc. which it visually appear as a classification of rollercoaster, without taking nitty gritty specifics like *exact* measurements into account. I consider the latter more the actions of passionate rollercoaster enthusiasts, many of which I realise are on this site and of course doing exactly that lol. So yes, if it does fall just short of what is technically classified, there will no doubt be disgruntled enthusiasts crying foul over it. But tbh, I think the general public is going to be satisfied labelling it just on what they see at the park itself and on photos etc, without the need to do homework into it. So it will continue to be classified as a Hyper either way if that's what the majority say. Who knows, maybe this coaster will be the pioneer of a new type/hybrid of Hyper, given its the first in Australia it may be setting some brand new standards in that sense? Wasn't Green Lantern the very first of its kind with having 8 seat trains? This could very well be something similar? ☺️ Just my 2c anyway 👍 -
Latest Nearmap images of the parks
Theme Park Girl replied to rac2703's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yeah, they were also using it for their employment group interviews prior to the accident. The location changed to the Madagascar auditorium after that. Aww, but I'm sure staff currently love the convenience of their Blue Lagoon carpark! Saves them having to walk all the way from the main one on other side of the park lol 😛 Yeah, I totally agree. What bugs me as well is that the train still laps around that area, giving guests a perfect view of... an impressively long white wooden fence 😮 So much wasted opportunity there, not just with a nice big space for development, but also providing the train passengers with a better sceneric experience for the second half of their trip, along with a means of direct transport to/from it since all they need do is add a new stop. -

@Brad2912 thanks for the awesome pics 😆👍How's the diverted entry to the carpark looking? I haven't been out that way for a few days, would be curious to know how close it is to completion now ☺️ -
What is a Hypercoaster?
Theme Park Girl replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Pretty much spoke my mind on this. Is it a hypercoaster, despite not meeting the exact terminology? Absolutely! If there was a significant difference with height and measurements, then by all means. But meh, 1 metre is nothing. Still a Hyper as far as I'm concerned 😆 -

Would love to know what's going on here! New entrance to the carpark? Or just expanding it, since they have had no luck so far getting the new one approved? 🤔 Will do 😆 Although I think these ones look fine anyways! Will be interesting to see what new progress has been made by the time I get there tomorrow ☺️👍 -

New Dreamworld Patisserie & Grill "coming soon"
Theme Park Girl replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just a minor update, I messaged Dreamworld earlier to ask them what's happening with it. It's marked as read, but they haven't responded. Which is unusual for them, as generally they get back straight away. So yeah, no idea what's happening with it still and hopefully they do let us know soon. Kinda got excited over the opening date being announced, I love Jelly Belly jellybeans! -

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Theme Park Girl replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
My guess would be cost cutting. Apon arriving at the park last week in the morning the Buzzsaw wasn't operating, we initially suspected it had gone down for unscheduled maintenance. Then found out that it was actually because its operating hours had been restricted to 1pm-5pm. Reducing ride operation hours has been a common practice for Dream in the past few years as a form of cost cutting, and obviously the park has a lot of financial recovery to make after last year's events. So it's not surprising to me to see them going to more extreme methods of this during off-peak periods. That said, does the website state that those rides will be back running on normal hours next week for the Easter Hols? -
New Dreamworld Patisserie & Grill "coming soon"
Theme Park Girl replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
@MickeyD I doubt that would be the case. They have been advertising the store for months now, including inside the park where they already have printed signage in windows for the store. So the contract has already been in place for a while. I dare just say that the opening date is being changed from what they were advertising earlier today. Hopefully they will update soon to let us know 👍 -

@themagician I don't know if that's still the case... they just deleted the FB event for that date, along with the related images. The above link is also now a 404 😑 -
It's not about ratings, though. It's about exposure. It's MOVIE World, afterall! That's why a lot of attractions are themed to movies which have recently come out at the time, and you've used some fantastic examples of MW ones - Scooby, Green Lantern, Wild Wild West (yes, originally the ride WAS themed to the movie which came out around the time, it was only changed a few years later due to a licensing dispute), even the fact that the majority of their rides are DC themed is all revolved around the fact that DC movies are so popular and being released in bulk over the past decade. They are going with what's most familiar, most popular, and being made a household name. In my opinion, pretty much everything is based on the box office movie side of things when it comes to major Movie World attractions. And I believe this will be no different ☺️? PS. Yes I'm aware that Bizarro was featured in the Super-Villians area, but honestly, who else were they going to use to make up numbers if they needed a wide variety of DC Villians from their different franchises? In this case they mixed it up a bit. But I don't believe it will be an ongoing thing. I reckon they will play their cards right and most definitely pull out an Ace for the biggest attraction they have ever added to their park ??

Not a good place to be when theming Australia's first world class hypercoaster however, they would be more likely to be focusing on the Top 10 ? Sorry but I still can't see it happening lol. Maybe once he actually gets an appearance in a box office flick, things will change... That's what I call it as well after seeing it in person lol ☺️? -
101% agree ? I admit that whilst I wasn't a huge DC/Marvel fan growing up (I was more into TMNT & Sonic comics ??) I was still enough of a tomboy to be familiar with all their main characters. And I admit that I had NEVER heard of this Bizarro guy until Movie World built the Super-Villians Unleashed area. He's been a minor recurring villain in like, what, a couple TV series/cartoons and a small handful of DC comics? ? I'm just not convinced he is popular or well known enough to be the face of the biggest rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere ? Think about it, guys... the upcoming ads on TV... "Come ride the new Bizarro hypercoaster at MW" (queue people scratching their heads in confusion and asking who the heck "Bizarro" is) OR as a complete random but ideal example: "Come ride the new Wonder Woman hypercoaster at MW" (now THAT'S more like it!) Look at the other existing DC character rides... Batman, Superman, Arkham Asylum aka Joker & HQ, Green Lantern. They are all based on well known and recognisable characters & places. Practically household names, even to non-comic book fans. Their presence is everywhere. Even lesser known comic book characters like Aquaman, Harley Quinn and Thor are recently having box office movies made about them to make them household names. One can completely understand having new rides themed to any of the above, despite having a lesser known presence worldwide in the past. They weren't known so much then, but they are now. Fact is, Bizarro is NOT a household name, and never has been. He's a supporting act villian. He hasn't been in any major movies, nor is he in any upcoming ones. In fact the character was planned to be the antagonist in the Man Of Steel movie, but was scrapped. In my opinion, if they are doing this - which they are - they are gonna do this the right way and make it based on a much loved, well known hero or villian that everyone instantly recognises. Something that people can connect with immediately and possibly even form an emotional connection with. Something that pulls the crowds in and help Movie World to subsequently make as much profit from this as well - they are a business, afterall! Sorry Bizarro, but in my opinion, you're a huge no go for this lol. Not until you at least have a major role in a new DC movie so people know who the heck you are to begin with? ETA: a quick google online and it doesn't even look like he's a popular option for a major movie character... at least as a first indication by these random 25 comic book fans, anyway ??
