  1. I've heard that one of the reason's that it has been on hold for so long is becuase a mojority of Gold Coast City Councilers are share holders in either Westfield or the WVTP. I think there may be some truth to this because Westfield already has a town centre just down the highway. Surely the ACCC has to see this as monopolising the northern areas of the Gold Coast by Westfield, would it not. I just hope, as skeetafly said, that Dreamworld has some input into the design of the town centre and the construction etc. Even if it is Westfield that have bought the land...
  2. that must be the one thats under dockside tavern where the old fuji lab used to be. It got turned into a games room when the lab got moved to its current position
  3. Annual maintenance on the Hydrocoaster and the Green room. They both run off the same pump and tank so they both need to be done together.
  4. I'm quite sad to see it go. I still wish they could've found a better way to do a better show. Ah well, management makes these decisions for reasons unknown. Another great comment by whitsy too. Thanks for clearing up the obvious gay undertones that were present in that seaworld media release, I couldnt pick it. (sarcasm)
  5. I went down to Seaworld yesterday and was looking at the lake. The ski boats seem to hold the same speed coming down that back section of the lake compared to coming around the centre island. To me this begs the question of whether they could split the lake in two and maybe run two shows using the top section of the lake and old pirate ship site for this new pirate show and run a (slightly) modified ski show still in the front of the lake. I saw the endeavour had been moved to the top section and hardly took up any room. And judging by the space left from the old pirate ship, there seems to be enough room for a grandstand to go in. I'm thinking that Seaworld could have blown people away with two shows etc, but this is just my opinion. Will be a real shame to see the show go, no matter how 'tacky' people think it is.
  6. sorry, yeah i was talking about the cyclone. The TOT exit has been moved also. essentially, everything is on the other side. The exit used to come out near the entry where the giant Nick poster and SB play area is now. I believe that the beginning of the queue line was mirrored to the other side of the ride. There is still a service door that runs out to Runaway Reptar as well.
  7. Alhough the rubber on the walkway looks like a retractable bridge, as far as i know it never did retract nor has it have the ability to. I think it was more for effect. When the floor vibrated, the walls moved a lot so it seems very windy and unstable. As for bending the queue the other way, I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but you now queue up in the old exit and exit through the old queue line,
  8. Miribilandia in Italy has a pirate diving show. If you look at the website there's a video of it. Also, I was at Seaworld yesterday, and rather than doing the proper ski show in the afternoon, they did a demonstration of all types of skiing etc. I don't know if they did the show in the morning or not, but i was kind of disappointed becuase I wanted to take some photos of the old show. Hopefully it was a one off thing.
  9. I went to movieworld yesterday with the only intention being to see HWSD again to see how much is changed. What a different atmosphere with only 2 police cars. The show seemed to lack more drama (if thats possible) and there was a lot of empty space that simply wasn't being used. As well as all this, it seems that MW has fixed the problem with the flailing canvas doors. See below.....
  10. I mean to give them first preference. if they want to work it Seaworld should use them and then audition out the other positions, rather than telling them that if they want to be in it, to audition like everybody else, if the contracting company hadn't already filled all of the positions. I'm glad i don't work for WVTP, obviously job security for any staff, including long serving members, isn't an important thing for them it deliver...
  11. I just don't see why they can't keep the same staff and crew and re-do the show. Why not close it down for a week or two or even a month, and work on completely re-doing the show but still keep traditional things like the ski jump and the pyramid? So rather than kicking 20 people out on the street and completely throwing away a traditional that's older than the actual park? I just think that SW needs to a) give the staff chances to get into the new show and look at re-creating the show in a new way once this stupid pirates show finishes.
  12. I had a thought about the fabric doors the other day. Why not make them out of the same foam that the bricks are made from? So rather than the car going through the doors and then miraculously re-appear completely un-scathed? You could even cut the foam into odd shapes to look like the door has splintered and broken and maybe even have some still attached to the door frame to add to the effect?
  13. I like the fact that its the only one in Australia and it has been so long running. I admit that the whole story-line is a bit cheesy, but i still marvel at the tricks and skills that the skiiers have. So, overall, I like the tradition of it, but I do also see the entertainment of it. I mean, that for me is one of, if not the, major thing i associate with Seaworld and always make an effort to see.
  14. i reckon this is crap. i mean, okay it might be a litle old and all but what ever happened to keeping traditions alive? Seaworld started as a ski show, and now its getting rid of it. Another bad decision made by WVTP. I'm glad i don't work for a company that doesn't care about traditions or how long someone has given to a company in order to save money. I will definately not be renewing my pass and will boycotting them from now on. This is a very very bad decision by WVTP.
  15. i was just joking around gazza, hence the rolling eyes smiley...
  16. was it down for the rest of the day? why would they need flashlights, isn't there enough lights in there at the moment for the camera to see and to cover the safety issues?
  17. I'm sorry, but i fail to see how the fog or smoke machines can be affecting the brake system. I mean, a fog machine and a smoke machine use 2 completely different types of chemical and there is pretty much no residue in the air. If there is any at all, it would be around the nozzle of the machine, but whenever i've worked with a smoke machine i've had no problems, as well as the fact that it all raises rather quickly, so i can't see it falling on a track anywhere. So unless they're using some special kind of chemical, i don't see it being a problem, more as another excuse for management to cut costs and blame it on "safety measures". As with there being more light in the dark room, i think that's stupid. It ran for how long with its old setup, yet now its apparently a "safety concern" to have it so dark. Did the safety department at Movieworld just not know that Scooby Doo even existed? I mean come on, next we'll be seeing the projectors in the queue line turned off becuase it was too much of a distraction and people were walking into poles or something like that. If the ride had this many safety problems, why would Movieworld even bother having the ride? While I'm having a rant as well, if management for the parks are on these forums, then why did it take some of the staff from Movieworld taking quote's FROM this site to management before anything seems to be done. Movieworld is seriously trying to covering up they're distinct lack of effort and they're "near enough is good enough" attitude. Also, green lasers are much brighter than red due to them being a different frequency. So overall, there is no excuse other than they are being cheap. -Out
  18. well, they;re only selling 2 of the chevy police cars and i imagine they would have more than that...so i reckon they would
  19. Great comeback whitsy. Need I remind you that this is a THEME PARK forum. We discuss matters to do with theme parks, hence the discussion about fog etc. If you think you're too cool for an educated discussion about a theme park, then leave. Quite simple. All this topic is about is how thte SDSC has been lacking in its usually wonderful effects. You don't need to post on here if you think its a stupid argument. Grow up whitsy, or at least act more mature than you are at the moment if that's possible.
  20. I agree with the above posts, however, i can see Lotl_90's point. There are more senior members of Dreamworld on these forums who know a lot more about that park and when someone posts a comment talking about things that we haven't ever seen or heard of, of course we are going to set the record straight. For example, in the six years that I have been working at Dreamworld, I have never seen a junior member of staff being told to do "rounds" in order to monitor certain areas. As far as the Big Brother area is concerned, the closest attractions are the Log Ride and Giant Drop. So, if these "rounds" do exist, (which i agree with Lotl_90 when i say i don't think they do) there would be absolutely no need to be anywhere near the Big Brother House and you would be in a completely restricted area. So, overall, what I'm saying is that i see no point in these "rounds" and especially to have them done by a junior staff member rather than a) a security guard or a rides supervisor.
  21. Nah, the ultimate money saver. Have it open for about 2 or 3 hours or closed for the whole day
  22. The way the vests work is that they can change at any time. You can be walking beside someone the same colour and all of a sudden one of you can change from blue (normal human) to yellow (infected human), giving an overall game of every person for themselves. The host is, as T-Bone said, an in role character. It wouldn't be as believable if a military/mercenary commander wasn't as firm as what they are supposed to be. As for his pack, he's on all the time so he can shoot back whenever he wants but i don't think he/she would really be bothered to after about the first hour.
  23. TOT is running again. I'm pretty sure it was nothing major so its now running fine :-)
  24. i do believe this is only due to an unknown technical issue which may have something to do with the heavy rain we've had lately. i may be wrong but i dont think its anything to be concerned about at this stage.
  25. True spotty. It could have been just for the launch that they had the groups of 22. for 30 people your looking at about 300pph. I would say 30 is a better number And yeah GoGoBoy, i reckon its really cool that the creator himself has decided to post
