I dunno. It's existence at WnW means that sad touring coaster enthusiasts pay admission to enter a park they wouldn't otherwise bother with
-
Well yes, but not when I'm connecting flights in Dubai For avoidance of all doubt, I'm looking to attend any fair in Australia or New Zealand held during the month of February that has a roller coaster. I suspect that the answer to this is "there isn't going to be one" but would like to be certain of this. I've spoken to Mahon's Amusements in NZ and their coaster is out of use at present

Monday 9th February is the plan. -
Ah okay, the web site lists it as under maintenance. That'll need an update http://wetnwild.com.au/plan-your-day/attraction-maintenance.aspx
-
I should have clarified. Any fairs in Australia in February?

I remember the staff being pretty friendly as was. I'm going to be in Australia for the better part of two weeks. Perth is a one day stop over at the start of my trip – a Monday – to ride Abyss -
Is the new coaster open? The photo would suggest it is, but it's not listed on the web site.

Can anyone tell me how long Surfrider has been out of commission? I find it a bit surprising that it's closed during peak season. I'm wondering if it's toast...
-
Sorry to bump an old thread, but this seemed as good a candidate as any – are there any decent fairs on in February?

Indeed, thanks. If any enthusiasts fancy meeting up at Adventure World then do drop me a line – will let you know my plans. -

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the changes in Adventure World since my last visit in March 2008. I'm guessing it'll feel like a completely new park -

You might be thinking of the Thunderlooper – that went to Brazil, but the reason there was due to the noise the ride made, rather than anything to do with safety. Black Hole was refurbished by Gerstlauer and was reinstalled at Furuvik in Sweden. As part of the rebuild it got an exit ramp http://rcdb.com/9602.htm Turbo Mountain was older, but only by a year. -

Here's a random question... was Turbo Mountain sold on or was it scrapped? -

Er, what? Personally I think that larger rides at carnivals are an awesome sight, all the more so because these massive machines are moved in and out in a matter of days. Check out the three Wildwasserbahn rides in Germany if you want to see truly crazy flumes... -

Heh, so Australia is its final resting place? I feel sorry for you all. What a heap of junk.

Turbo Mountain was probably the smoothest you had...

Parkz News Tower of Terror in reverse?

Hmm, I think there'd be serious issues with trying to launch a car backwards. You'd need over the shoulder restraints at minimum, and probably four point harnesses to avoid neck damage. I can't see it happening... Nice idea though! -
Eh, Crush's Coaster is distinctly average. You want an awesome indoor coaster, try those at Phantasialand, Efteling, or indeed Disney Hong Kong.
-
I'd say you've got one of the greatest thrill rides on the planet in the guise of Giant Drop. No sense being greedy... ...though a Mega Lite would be good right enough
-
From your description it sounds like the ride cycle has been heavily watered down. It was a very good ride on the fair circuit here.
-
I didn't ride it today, but I can confirm that - it was swinging as high as I've ever seen one of those go. An interesting little tidbit for you; a lot of pirate ships run at less than their maximum rated power, deliberately reduced because the average member of the public finds a full power pirate ship a bit too much to take. Ask someone in your friendly local park maintenance department what level the ride is set to; you might get a surprise.
-
It depends on the park. Many European parks do not mind cameras on rides.
-
Yeah, I'd agree with that; the tilting seats are great, but the standup floorless ones are bloody uncomfortable. They hurt on a a tower less than half the height at Drayton Manor; I reckon they'd be a seriously bad idea at Dreamworld.

For what it's worth the trap door isn't a new idea. The Wet'n'Wild parks in the USA have had the "Bomb Bay" slide for years.
