People even go as far as to download the show via torrent so there sadly are people watching it.

And in other news this has happened http://clients.weblink.com.au/news/pdf/01332832.pdf Let the speculation commence!

Everything was going good until around the time WnW got the aqualoops, since then they just don't seem to care.

Looking at the guy standing nearby that is going to be one hell of a drop!

Charge enough through entry? Most people pay $100 for a VIP pass. Even if you only visit all three once you have saved a shitload of money. They have to make the money somehow and a $100 pass wouldn't be enough by itself. Especially now they are offering it with two after hours events. I do not see myself as being gouged when I visit Movie World. I am more than willing to pay the $10 for a all day locker or $2 for a short term as I see a visit to the parks as something to spend part of my "disposable income" on. A visit to a theme park is something done when you have the cash to do it. Might as well be going to a cinema and paying $20 to see a movie only to complain about $6 for a large drink as this is what I see the locker situation like. I only visit theme parks and other leisure activities when I have the required cash to do so. Being rude at the staff member is poor form and not entirely their fault. When you hire the locker you are warned about the limited period of the hire and additional costs for unlocking. It is on a sticker on every door.

Movie World new ride: JUSTICE LEAGUE: Alien Invasion 3D.
pin142 replied to mba2012's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I am loving the fact that we have gone from complaining about a 2D facade to complaining about one that has had the effort done "properly". This is the first time in ages the park has done full on entrance to a ride. Looking at the photos I think it looks fine. So what if the wording is slightly off be glad they made the effort and didn't just stick up some wallpaper and said "Done!".- 778 replies

I am waiting until official announcement from the park and not information by a imitation Facebook page. The return of VIP Gold is a very interesting move given when it has been announced. The week following the end of the buy 3 get 1 free promotion.

One question I have is with Q4U if the system wasn't in place at Dreamworld would they have still built a low capacity ride (Buzzsaw) or would they have opted for something with higher. If you build something that can chew through a large number of people quickly then a system like Q4U loses value even on busy days. The system works well there as it is a park with predominantly low capacity rides. There is only one line that can help speed things up and that is a single rider line, not a fast pass/Q-bot line. For your Dreamworld trip best bet is to see what the park is like at 11am. By then you will have a good idea if you will require the use of Q4U.

This is a major problem I have with Dreamworld. Too much emphasis on Big Brother with their passes. Combine that with a lack of new attractions that interest me and it is the reason for me letting my World Pass lapse. Given what the competition are doing the renewal of my VIP was a no-brainer! A pass is only as good as what it is able to offer both now and in the future.

The Green Lantern is what BuzzSaw should have been. You have similar elements (lap bar, vertical drop, twist) but then it also has things like outside banked turns, a much longer sustained upside down period, significantly higher capacity. There are two main things Green Lantern has over it, it is way more fun and you actually want to ride it again. Good or big time bad? Easily call it good.

The number Ardent focus on for results is the EBITDA which is not a similar percentage loss. Ardent is at -10.4% on last year, Village works out to be around -0.97%. The figures do show investing in the wrong attractions has cost them and it is not the weather at fault. Buzzsaw and fine weather will not combat this drop. If Buzzsaw was to help turn the numbers around it would have done so already. The very simple fact is Village compared to Ardent are putting in attractions the public are interested in and combined with a VERY solid pass promotion scheme and branding they are getting results they are after. If Ardent want any hope of turning things around it will take more than Kung Fu Panda area and sunny weather they mention in the report to do so. Any hope of bringing back the thrill seekers to the park will require a large investment in a world class signature coaster (think Gatekeeper, The Outlaw, etc.). This is also an area they are lacking compared to Movie World. They have four thrill coasters with at least two they can be proud to have. One other thing I get from the reports is Village are showing more pride in their parks than Ardent. Village lead their report breakdown with their theme park operations whereas Ardent leave it to last.

$70 too much? I would say it is too little given last years event. I say make it $79.99 minimum if there is going to be a all nights pass. I will say I won't be trusting anything as credible until it is officially announced by the park. Some random development site is just that, a development site. For starters there is VIP Gold upgrade mentioned on the page. With no prior VIP Gold marketing this year to the general public lets not jump to conclusions about what is happening with Fright Nights ticketing.

Do a barrel roll? Why not two! It looks like the layout for the coaster at Silver Dollar City was accidentally leaked over the past few days and thanks to the nature of the internet someone was able to save it before the park has taken it down. Source https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150967450622097&set=a.328438002096.157870.564972096&type=1&ref=nf I am sure even those who aren't fans of wooden coasters would see this as extremely interesting and something to go out of the way and ride. I know I would!

It seems yet another cable has snapped on an Intamin launched coaster. This time it is Rita at Alton Towers. From the weird news desk comes this http://www.thelocal.se/42146/20120720/ A 31-year-old father of two is in hospital struggling against blood poisoning after a freak accident at a Swedish theme park on Sunday where a tow hitch on a children’s ride penetrated his rectum. Don't think I have heard of an injury like this at a theme park before. Would be interesting explaining to people why you are in hospital too.

To be honest I would prefer to have Medusa in the carpark over Buzzsaw as it stands!

Best thing they did was turn off those monitors. 45 minutes in a queue with that fake news report on loop? I would much rather queue as it is now looking at things around the current line than put up with that video.

Green Lantern a carpark coaster you say? I think this was first! http://www.rcdb.com/1415.htm?p=5739 Getting back on topic looks like most of the new for 2012 coasters in the US are open. What will be interesting to see is if Flying Turns at Knobels opens this year especially given the flooding they had earlier in the year. They looked to be making decent progress with it too based on postings on their Facebook page.

Looks like the 2013 additions are off to an interesting start. Silver Dollar City is getting twisty with wood, in a completely different way! More photos at https://www.facebook...17780575&type=1

What should MW and DW's next roller coasters be?
pin142 replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Something like this. I know the chances of getting something anywhere near it are extremely low but it would be nice to see a smaller version built. For those of you going to complain about it looking like it is rough, stfu. It is a wooden coaster. It can be expected and to be honest is part of the experience of a fast and "out of control" wooden coaster. -
I find it kind of ironic Dreamworld have gone from having one of the longest roller coasters in the world to one of the shortest.

Pay for popcorn/drink combo when buying the tickets online and you get $1 off the cost of the combos at Event Cinemas. Smart people venture into the park with a sports bottle from previous visits and pay the refill price. If you already have a drink why would you want to buy another? Food pricing may be high but they are a business and they have to make money somehow and cheap passes will not do it. A discount would be nice but remember you only paid $90-100 for a pass with around 12 months on it. Weigh it up against paying the old annual pass pricing (around $200 for each park) then complain about a "high price" meal on top of that! Theme parks are luxury expenditure items same with any other form of paid entertainment. Lunch at a theme park is for most people an uncommon thing and I am sure that allowing $5-10 extra on top of what you would pay at a fast food outlet for an equivalent isn't that much to ask.

What should MW and DW's next roller coasters be?
pin142 replied to POP's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If this or something like it was to turn up in a park in Australia I am sure the bad mouthing of wooden coasters would stop somewhat quickly! Image from http://www.coasterfriends.de/forum/4097-neu-2013-holzachterbahn-silver-dollar-city-2.html To be honest screw steel coasters for now. Our parks need a traditional wooden or one of these new crazy modern style coasters. Almost every major park in the world has their coaster collection anchored by at least one wooden coaster. Companies like Rocky Mountain are also pioneering new things in wooden coasters too. Look at the "New Texas Giant" for an example of what can be done with a wooden coaster or the one under construction at SDC as shown in the image. That is one hell of an overbank (possibly zero-g roll) and it is being featured on a wooden coaster.
