  1. Only benefits we can use locally are the store credit and advanced info/booking for trips.
  2. Unlike the movie this ride keeps getting better. Bring on December!!!
  3. Unless you plan on doing TPR trips or visiting parks in the US or Europe there is as much of an advantage to being a member. There is a three monthly publication that details what's happening around the world and on their trips for those who don't keep up with what's happening on their forums. It is really down to either you are a member for the benefits or because your disposable income allows it.
  4. Another video with an interview from S&S, mentions a December 15 opening date.
  5. I will say though it does tick the "cheap" and "off the shelf model" boxes. If we were going to see something like this I feel this is something Movie World would build for those above reasons.
  6. From IAAPA GCI have revealed "Big Fun". Reported to cost around $3 million and all the park needs to do is build paths to it. Would make a great addition to one of our parks. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pee7s7cbWm8
  7. Next Australian or US airing episode?
  8. Are there many members here on the Sunshine Coast though? I am guessing most are either south side of Brisbane or on the Gold Coast. I would offer to do an update but live around 2 hours drive from Aussie World.
  9. That or they just really like creative writing!
  10. Big question is will it have fire sensing lights on it that reverse the cars in the case of such an event? Being a similar style of ride to Scoobs and all.
  11. Movie World, attending the fright nights preview.
  12. Why not one of the lesser known majors like Herschend? They have in their portfolio most of what is talked about in the development and if their stateside parks are anything to go by the Gold Coast parks would have some competition for interstate visitors!
  13. 1. Rebuild park 2. ??? 3. Profit!
  14. I am going to go against the trend and say the idea of no bringing stuff to the rides is a good one if it increases efficiency of the rides. Sure you might not have your phone to play around on during the wait but when you have rides built with the intention of handling a large number of guests in a hour any additional methods to help achieve maximum efficiency is welcomed. Sales revenue dropped? Guess that this would be one of the factors for the increase in price for VIP passes but they have gone and made offerings for pass holders to try and increase spending in parks (upgrades on purchases). As mentioned there was also the floods in January, generally "peak season" which would have drove a fair amount of people away. I was isolated for around a week due to flooding and I am a hour away from Brisbane and also the parks. Going by their June presentation they seemed to have tried to do the best with what they had. Queensland was given a large amount of attention with a somewhat negative light so it wouldn't just be the theme parks that reported a decrease in profit this year! I see this whole "wrong track" approach as invalid given it hasn't really been normal operating circumstances. Whilst I don't agree with the closure of two rides there would have been a good decision behind it to close them. Green Lantern is looking great and will say I am going to trust what Movie World are doing attraction wise for now. Looking forward to actually being able to get to the park to see what is done so far for myself as I don't believe the pictures are doing this ride any justice. Sure Buzzsaw looks towering from the carpark but I feel there will be a different buzz around this as it is more than a one trick pony!
  15. Great job installing a ride then unable to decide if they want to run a double or single cycle!
  16. Biggest problem with the PS3 is there are no titles that interest me on it :\
  17. I have a PS3 but it currently gets more use as a Blu-ray player. That and I own no games for it as there is nothing that interests me that I don't have on my XBOX 360 or PC.
  18. All this stuff happening at Aussie World kinda makes me want to make a visit. Can honestly say I have never been there however its distance is a bit of a put off for me at the moment!
  19. Would also explain the reason behind it taking so long to be built at Magic Mountain. This park is in the same league as Hard Rock Park, be surprised if it does re-open and if it does it will be hard to keep it open and profitable.
  20. It is still possible for the parks to grow. As said above it it a matter of them putting in a high cost major attraction. The main park for growth is Dreamworld and the attractions they are putting in are only good as a filler in between major additions. Looking at everything the major park operators world wide have done or are doing recently our additions are small. Even smaller parks like Dollywood are putting in huge attractions. Our parks need to look at this and to have any chance of major growth do something similar. A decent ride will get guests coming back for years to come. I say it will be interesting to see which ride maintains popularity amongst guests, Green Lantern or Buzzsaw.
  21. Got a feeling they might have pissed off the city when they took the Vekoma Junior Coaster that was added prior to their lease!
  22. A B&M Batman clone would be great at Dreamworld, better than buzzcut! What will be interesting is to see if Southern Star Amusement actually go through with their plans of reopening the park. Six Flags looks to have just collected some insurance money, taken two coasters and other minor salvageable things and left. It is "everything" not "everythink", everythink isn't even a word. From what I understand Six Flags left everything else there as it had too much damage caused by the sea water to warrant salvaging. So yeah, it would be great for an Australian park to use as expensive scenery and guests to wonder why they can ride it!
  23. Deadline focused? Like how the past additions have met their deadlines for opening on time with no problems... I think this has to do with the makeover of what was Nick Central. About the only thing I can think of upcoming that requires all the highlighted skill sets. Don't think after this year there would be anything like that requiring all those abilities opening and don't really see the next WWW stage would be a 6 month job from start to finish.
  24. Big question with themeing would be "Is the ride still great if it was plopped into a carpark Six Flags style"? Themeing should be an enhancement to a great ride and not used to make the ride great. Look at something like Hulk or Dueling Dragons at IOA, it is only really the start of the ride that is themed. Same can be said for Superman Escape at Movie World. Even without the prelaunch storyline Superman would be a great coaster. You buy a dud ride no amount of themeing can turn it into a great one. It is good to see a portion of the budget go into themeing the ride but what point is it looking good if the experience of the ride itself is lacking.
  25. With Dreamworld I usually eat at White Water World (off peak is better as the chance of freshly cooked food is higher) so I have gone with takeaway outside of park.
