Movie World new ride: JUSTICE LEAGUE: Alien Invasion 3D.
aussienetman replied to mba2012's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I am looking forward to the next spring attraction at mw! I think I'll need to purchase a pass for next season! I have not visited the park as a guest for a while now as I bought a Dreamworld pass this year. If its a shooter with a good capacity and engaging storyline I'll def. make the effort to get there more often.- 778 replies

I never said it wasn't going to be a DC comics ride... And nothing from the parks officially suggests a family ride as yet. As I said a family ride is needed.- 778 replies

Grace, looks like you are new here. Welcome btw. We don't put to much weight into what park ops people say. Unless its coming from an official source then I would take what a staff member says with a grain of salt. . A family ride is needed, I do agree. I think after ripping out all the infrastructure for a simulator that we will be seeing something a bit different. A train ride possibly, but maybe that would be more suited to the river ride space.- 778 replies

Ricks Cafe - getting an update?
aussienetman replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Thanks for the insider knowledge on ricks cafe... I still think that moving the buffet to stars cafe permanently and opening up the ricks cafe area for a new attraction would be a smart move -
Dreamworld closing early today
aussienetman replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Lscia8.. That's what I thought... A bit of a veiled excuse to save some money because visitors were low. Im not saying the parks shouldn't do it as long as the cost savings are spent on much needed park upgrades. -
Dreamworld closing early today
aussienetman replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
From working at both parks for a good number of years not once did we close early due to rain. we only closed a couple times when the Movieworld front gate flooded. Must be global warming at work... -
I guess I have always overlooked ricks cafe at Movieworld. While its closed for refurbishment could this be a good time to update the theming? Have you eaten at this buffet before? It looks like the closure is open ended at this stage. Here's a wild thought.... Could it be closed for good to make space in a prime piece of real estate? It wouldn't be the first time a ride/attraction has closed for refurbishment and never reopened. Thinking out loud here, but ricks cafe does take up a lot of space, as well as the area beside it where the prayer area is currently located. By moving the buffet permanently to stars cafe, this does open up some nice space for Movieworld.

Agree. The head banging would ruin the rest of my day. The leg pain goes away in a few minutes. Great photos mate

In unrelated turtle news, Seaworld Orlando have just opened Turtle Trek, The worlds first 360 degree 3D dome theatre. The 3D film follows the journey that every sea turtle goes through from hatching and finding its way to the sea, to coming back to the beach it was born on to lay its eggs. There is also a turtle exhibit attached to the theatre.

Dreamworld closing early today
aussienetman replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
haha... the Dreamworld facebook comments were not very happy. One guy saying it is illegal for them to close early. I find it interesting that the parks havn't done something like this before. It is a cost cutting measure, and during off peak it kind of makes sense when you can do the park in half the day. (90 minutes if its Movie World) If it's a one off then I guess the point is moot. -
Bring A Universal Studios To Australia!
aussienetman replied to daltma10's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'm interested to know what theming would be involved if Universal did hit our shores. I think if it ever was to happen, creating rides from scratch would be out of the budget, so copies would be used. Having a look at the current offerings at Universal parks, there are only a few that could really make an impact here. The Simpsons Ride Revenge of the Mummy King Kong 3-D Transformers Men in Black and then a couple of other rollercoasters thrown in for good measure. Those who want a Universal Studios, what is the reasoning? The rides? Atmosphere? Theming? What could Universal bring to Australia that would be unique and a drawcard? Does the general public really care about massivley themed rides and lands? I think while Waterworld is a great stunt show, it wouldn't be a drawcard to get guests through the front gate. -
Dreamworld posted on Facebook this morning that due to the weather they and White Water World will be closing at 4pm today. Apart from Movieworlds flooding issues I can't remember a park closing its doors early due to weather. Is this move unprecedented? Could this be a sign of things to come for Dreamworld? Reduced trading hours during off peak times? Discuss.

posted on Seaworld's page today. "we have movement"

Mmmm my first thought was also dinosaurs, but then I struggled to see how that would fit in at sea world. So racking my brains I thought of salt water crocs and can't really think of anything else that will fit. Turtles perhaps? I'm thinking that we won't see another ride in BT just yet.

My guess.... Saltwater crocodile exhibit

Bring A Universal Studios To Australia!
aussienetman replied to daltma10's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Ummm... Euro Disney opened in 1992. The Euro was not even called the euro until 1995 and then not introduced til 1999 (in only eleven countries). It wasn't til 2002 that the Euro became more widely used. The report u read was full of shit. End of off topic clarification -
On Ride Footage - Post your most awesome ride experiences!
aussienetman replied to a topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hey mate, unless it's official park footage you will be unlikely to find any on-ride videos. TPR has done some on the gc parks when they were here last, and a couple of users got on ride footage of Arkham Asylum, but that's it. The parks are pretty strict about loose items and filming. -
Bring A Universal Studios To Australia!
aussienetman replied to daltma10's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't ever see a major park like Universal setting up shop in Australia. Leading international markets for the parks are Japan, China, Middle East and NZ. With Universal studios popping up all over Asia this takes away a couple of our biggest markets, and I just can't see that visitor numbers would be enough to warrant a park of that calibre. I could be wrong, I did swear black and blue that big brother would never return to Dreamworld ! Haha -
Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
aussienetman replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Hmmm. So anyway... I think they should drop the Shock Therapy byline. It does not do anything to enhance the ride and everyone just calls it Arkham Asylum anyway. Thoughts? -

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
aussienetman replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The backside of the tower is not themed. You can see straight into it. but im not phased. Just like you can see the rear end of wild west falls when u ride lethal it just adds to the movie nature of the park. Nothing is real. -
"Fastpass" like system to be trialled at Movie World
aussienetman replied to Park Addict 93's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Walked past Green Lantern today - 90 minute plus wait - or the oportunity to get a fast ticket and come back and ride at 1:15 with little wait. It was just a young lady sitting at a desk handing out the tickets. If I didn't know what she was there for I probably wouldn't have understood as gp. This is a great idea during peak times for the big ticket rides. I hope this is a successful trial for the park -
