So my family has come into a bit of money and my dad has announced a family trip. I have always wanted to go to Orlando but it looks like we can only do Universal or Disney. Our travelling party are two people in their 50's and three in their 20's. At the moment we are leaning towards Universal but would like your input. We are looking at other things to do around Florida as well so any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Yes some don't open new attractions for a number of years but this has not been the case for Universal Florida. 2012 - Despicable Me : Minion Mayhem 2013 - Transformers: The Ride Simpsons Fast Food Boulevard plus Kodas twist and hurl 2014 - Diagon Alley plus Hogwarts Express plus Escape from Gringotts 2015? - King Kong With both the simpsons and diagon being fairly immersive lands, universal have sure spent a lot of money on growth in the last few years.

heading further off topic, but a great attraction does not need to be based on a movie or pre-existing story. Case in point - Mystic Manor

MW Mini Driving School - Officially Confirmed

Feel very disapointed in this as well. I truly hope this does not take up much valuable space -
Wet N Wild have claimed 8th position world wide for most attended water park posting a 17% increase in attendance off 2012 figures. The report is another interesting read. http://www.aecom.com/What+We+Do/Economics/Theme+Index+Report

Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster fire and lighting effects
aussienetman replied to Spotty's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Little bit late to the party here but my favourite positions to work at Movieworld had to be Scooby doo load platform. On busy days I really really enjoyed getting people pumped up and excited and moving quickly to get the cars loaded. When I was working Scooby on busy days, management tended to just put me on load for the whole day as I was pretty damn good at getting it done efficiently. If you were super hungover or not feeling very guest friendly, some time in the highzone or at the LRRR waterfall scene was really good. Except there were a few yucky stories about the lift room at LTTR which nearly always reminded me to take in some disinfectant before handling the button. For something different, working the Movie Magic Special Effects show was a highlight as well. The tricks we would play on each other before and during the show were hilarious... I will always remember my time at the show with fond memories. now to worst attractions.... anything to do with the front entry I hated. It was so boring to check heights and that was about it! I also hated working the matrix exhibit with a passion. It was by far one of the most boring attractions mw have ever created, and most of the guests felt the same! It went through a couple of different versions while I was there and it was just boring for guests and staff. -
What would you like to see at Gold Coast Theme Parks soon?
aussienetman replied to Santa07's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Unbelievably silly question from me right now. What happened to the gravitron ar dreamworld? Is the space where the turbine is at cyclone big enough for a gravatron type attraction? They could place it on the ground level, then the interior queue while waiting for the cyclone could be used. Guests could watch the ride spinning while they wait. Put some glass pannelling above it or somethinf so noone can throw anything (or spit in it) then they could subtly hint that thr cyclone is being caused by the forces of the gravitron. Big week this week and very tired so.not sure this is making sense. -
at dreamworld now taking photo requests

Wettest water ride you've been on?

Jurasic park at universal studios singapore. I was absolutely drenched. -
No plausibility but a good laugh.

Personally I would do Asia. Singapore, then off to Tokyo DisneySea. Never really been interested in the USA and I think Asia would be culturally more exciting.

Sorry for the confusion. I was just having a dig at those who post rumor as fact and didn't for a second think that people would actually believe there was only one maintenance man on for the entire park.
-
I was joking mate
-
the service is taking longer than expected because they only have one maintenance man on staff for the whole park. He will be spending 1 hour Monday-Friday working on Wipeout (he does not work weekends) in between he is constructing a tunnel for the vintage cars.

Makes me wonder about my definition of a theme park. I personally wouldn't classify this place as a theme park, but very interested to read others views! -
Just watched Blackfish. Wow it was hard to view, and it does paint a horrible picture of Seaworld US. If you have not watched it yet you should!

Warner Brothers Park, Abu Dhabi
aussienetman replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I have no idea! Abu dahbi i think? its next to that ferrari world place. Not sure why i said dubailand. Do you know anything about it? -
Not sure if I have seen this discussed on here so apologies if this is a re-do. Looks like this has been planned for 10 years or so it may never happen. Was wondering if Villiage have anything to do with the Warner Brothers Park in Abu Dhabi. I dont think they do but was just curious. Apparently Warner Brothers Park will draw on its existing warner bros. attractions and will make up a small portion of dubailand. Does anyone have any more info?

I think Movieworld include special events in their attendance reports - they do a lot more than Dreamworld and I think this is a big reason why attendance is higher.

And that's fine. Be harsh about the reviews, I am not saying dont do that. I for one was not happy with justice league and my first ride on the preview day was unbelievably disappointing I felt like I was going to cry. I hate some of the directions they take, and some of the marketing team needs to re-think their ideas. It is the entitlement that I read here which gets me hot. By all means, continue the lively discussion, just stop acting like the parks owe us anything. (Not directed at anyone in particular!)

Pretty sure we get the same thread every 6 months or so. I'm so sick of the same discussion bah. Replace mine ride, clean the water rides, remove motacoaster, do something with vintage cars. It is always the same. Dreamworld do not care what people here think, all they care about is getting people through the gate. We all know cyclone needs work. Capacity is horrible, and tie that in with one operator who just doesn't give a damn and your in for a long wait. The queue line is ridiculous. They will not spend money on things that won't return money. Adding theming to vintage cars is one of them. Cleaner water in the lake is not one on them. Getting rid of theming that has no point, has no point. The chair lift Is dead and buried, forget about it. A shark and water on wipeout won't make me want to make a special trip to ride it. Disney is not going to buy dreamworld. Dreamworld is interested in making money. While they are still profitable and making money I so not see any huge expenditure. They are not competing with vrtp anymore and have no interest in doing so. Dreamworld have no reason to spend money on upgrades, new rides etc and can continually give us sub-standard carnival attractions because the teenagers will still go. The families will still go. Although the rides may not be as good, you do get a full day out of dreamworld. If Movieworld is quiet it is half-day at best (and that's seeing all the shows) Went to aus zoo the other day and was at a water bubbler filing up my water bottle and another guest just happened to say he was at Movieworld and it would have cost him $8 for a water there and he was happy aus zoo has bubblers for free. It is the small stuff that makes a difference. As soon as the land becomes more valuable then keeping the theme park it will be sold off to developers and dreamworld will be gone. Management have no intentions if bringing the park back to its former glory. They read you pr emails with your suggestions and laugh at them, because the average guest is going and spending money. You want them to spend more money why? So it looks better? So you have one more coaster to ride. Dreamworld don't have to do this to keep the money coming in. We are lucky that vrtp do seem to add things often, and even then we complain. I complained about JL, others complain about HSD. We complain they built a coaster in the carpak. We complain that there's no fire on a new coaster and email them. For gawdsakes people. Take a look at yourselves and what you are becoming. Did you ever say thank you? These parks owe you absolutely nothing and I'm sick of the attitude some have where they feel so entitled as to demand change. Get over yourself and get a freaking life. Opinions brought to you by me. You are welcome.
