themeparkgc replied to jds230798's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Did we really need another topic for this when its already been covered in other threads? http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?s...50&start=50 http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=5370 -
Sea World 2010 (Castaway Bay & Antarctic Penguins)
themeparkgc replied to themeparkgc's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ I'm pretty sure I read it said it just cost to do Sky Climb (the set of high ropes). All of the other attractions are included in admission. EDIT: Intamin beat me to it. -
Have a look at skeetafly's post here which has an image which shows the boundaries. The Big Brother house is outside the new boundary but the studios remain within it. I guess a carpark coaster could work quite well. It could have a station near the old chairlift or where the choppers used to fly off from.

^ That's my point exactly. The only type of roller coaster they could fit is a compact one on the Blue Lagoon site. There wouldn't be enough land for a giga.

Today in the Sunday Mail there was a bit of information about the new movies for both Movie World and Sea World. Movie World will indeed be getting Journey to the Centre of the Earth 4-D adventure while Sea World will be getting Happy Feet 3D. It also says a new thrill ride for Movie World? Also in yesterday's Gold Coast Bulletin they started a series of 3D (red/blue glasses) images. One of which was an advert for Castaway Bay.

Quite a good attraction list. However, I am unsure as to what a "Teen Activity Lagoon" will be. All in all, it does sound like a Wold Class Theme Park.
-
Chances are its probably a very similar plan as to what Wet'n'Wild Aussie World was going to be before they canned it. Another article with a few angry people...

Yes, it's ridiculously out of budget but it is something that I would like to see in a park over here one day... Also to everyone who is thinking of a giga coaster - where would they put it? Doing a quick measurement of Cedar Point's Millennium Force, the lift hill is more than 150m long. Remember Dreamworld sold most of their excess land earlier this year. They do own a large portion of land stretching out from the animals, but I can hardly see them using it for a Giga coaster due to this close proximity.

I think a Mega-Lite for a coaster (it could possibly fit well in the Blue Lagoon area) and a Multi Motion Dark Ride for a flat ride (inside Eureka Mountain).

Have a look over your PM inbox Randy. That might jog your memory.

^^ He's done the same thing to some of my posts as well.

Applying your logic of no competing events, I think Wet'n'Wild would have that time period reserved for their Dive 'n Movies. So how about 'Cold Winter Nights'?
-
Are they going to replace the seating with the new style they installed for Shrek 5 years ago, or leave it the same and just change the film?
-
Penguins are going up the other end near Shark Attack aren't they?
-
As far as I know all of the rides are height based. On the MyFun website each attraction page has its requirements down the bottom in bullet point form. As for Dreamworld I think they only list the requirements for their Big 6 Thrill rides. Similarly WhiteWater World appears to have their restrictions in the bar on the right hand side.

With Movie World focussing on a more adult oriented event, this year Sea World is offering some Halloween Family Fun.
-
What do you mean by that? Do you mean Superman: The Escape? Currently, it has the same launch speed so it would share the record.
-
The ride in that video is pretty awesome. Does anyone know if there is anything like that in the world? If not, theme parks, take note.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XWMLV2V I was thinking of doing this for a while and after the recent flurry of polls by nathanpamenter I decided to finally do it. The link above contains lists of parks, roller coasters, rides, shows, water rides and animal exhibits in which you can rank in order of preference. In the case of roller coasters, you can rank the operating ones first, and then include the defunct ones. For shows, I have listed quite a lot, but not all. If you feel something is left out, post a message here and I'll include it. Once a substantial amount of responses have gone through I'll post the results on here. You don't have to answer every question but it would be great if you did.

It sounded to me like he was thinking of something like this and not this.

Seal Rocks and Dugong Discovery at Seaworld every time
