  1. I don't know if it has been mentioned before but I found this website a while ago. It has all sorts of old information about Dreamworld including scans of some of the older maps. http://www.scottware.com.au/theme/dream/
  2. ^ The only float out of those I don't remember was the Road Runner one. jakeman398, I was wondering if you were still intending on posting the pictures from the opening of Movie World you told us about in January. As I've previously stated, I'd love to see them.
  3. Have the Terror Canyon slides actually been removed or are they still SBNO?
  4. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/p...x-1225862761598 I am thinking this could be a good move. Only time will really tell. What does everybody else think?
  5. Sea World went to the effort of building a new building for them. The area used to have a bit of grass, a few trees and a band stand. I've circled the new building below. I guess it's Sea World's new target market.
  6. Don't give them ideas! That would be the new kids attraction. Possibly a splash battle (or something similar). From an article last December: On a more positive note, it is good to see that they are increasing their upcharge opportunities. .
  7. ^ I'm going to agree. I think it looks more like the Matterhorn style cars than the bumper cars. Their website is: http://www.bertazzon-america.com/
  8. ^ In 2002 according to Parkz's About page. First post on these forums was made by Richard on Jun 16 2002, 08:40 AM in this discussion but it appears by the post that discussions were going on before this. I think this is a great change. The forum index page looks much simpler. I just thought you could probably move the site issues forum up so that it is under the same category as the announcements.
  9. I guess they sort of ran out of ideas here. Here is a list of attractions I found on the official website:
  10. I suppose they did do the same thing with Terror Canyon and we all know what has happened with them.
  11. Firstly ques isn't a word - it is spelt queues. To have a look at the photos visit Sanderson Group's website and click on completed projects. I'm not quite sure about the Giant Drop so I will leave it to others to answer. Tower of Terror changed its queue when it changed its entrance in 2002 when Nick Central was built. Originally the entrance was on the opposite side of the launch track. When they shifted the entrance, they also needed to shift the queue a lot of themeing was lost. As for the upgrade, I'd hope that if the park is going to the effort of the upgrade, they would return the ride to it's former state. Cyclone queue was modified around the same time WhiteWater World opened next door in 2006. The queue originally spiralled on the inside (where you now exit or enter with a Q4U I believe). On the outside spiral you'll notice various advertising banners promoting the upgrade to a World Pass to get access to WhiteWater World. Purely a marketing decision. Edit: I just noticed this topic from last year that you may be interested in: Old Dreamworld queues/theming.
  12. I'm pretty sure they will both be returning. Both the Twister and Speedcoaster pages state that they are "currently closed". If the rides weren't going to return I am sure they would have just removed the pages altogether.
  13. ^^ They also offered a $59 deal for the three weeks surrounding holidays. Even though it has expired it's still on all the buses here on the coast. If they don't remove the advertising soon I'd think that it is a marketing technique. "Guest: I'd like the $59 pass. DW: Sorry you have to pay $69 now".
  14. From the official USS website: Something serious (like the previously mentioned seat falling off) must have happened for the train to be dismantled and x-rayed.
  15. ^ I'm thinking that they've said September to ensure they have enough time to do it. If you think back three years to when the Motocoaster was being constructed. It was due for an early September opening, but it ended up opening on the last day of the month due to delays. According to Dreamworld's maintenance page the tower of terror isn't down for maintenance past the 25th of June. That says to me they aren't planning on having it down after that and would probably have it ready by July as expected. But in saying that, if they do put it down for longer and make a better job of it, I wouldn't be complaining. The presentation is available here.
  16. July 31 2004. (Photo page here) I guess it could switch spots with Dodonpa because they only have 12km/h difference. I highly doubt it will beat either Kingda Ka or Top Thrill Dragster though. Finally, just to show a better overview of the steel I thought I'd include this. The photo is by pin142 who posted it over at Theme Park Review a couple of days ago. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewt...=882892#p882892
  17. Firstly I think this ride looks pretty cool. As Gazza said it would be a great equivalent to a Tantrum Alley. The other thing I noticed is the lift system takes up barely any space because it is 100% vertical. It would be cool if WNW could buy one of these for their Tornado tubes.
  18. ... 3 days later ... Simple mistake to make .
  19. ^^ I think you got a good chance of winning. I'm sure the judges would approve of your logic. You should be more careful someone might steal your idea
  20. with rides like the Claw, V8 and AVPX. I see your point though.
  21. ^ Another ride at Adrenalin Park : http://www.flycoaster.com/
  22. ^ The way I interpreted his comment was that for a movie themed ride to fit into a park like DW, which is made up of themed (some not very good or consistent) lands, a movie themed land would have to be created. I'm sure DW would be able to find a way around this and put something in Ocean Parade themed to something completely different .
  23. I can't see WWW relying predominately on surveillance. The Cave of Waves features surveillance above and below the water but they still have several staff (probably somewhere between 3 and 5) no matter what time of the year it is. I understand that a wave pool is different from a lazy river but I believe the same principle still applies. This would be especially the case if the lazy river featured a wave channel.
