DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
MickeyD replied to Richard's topic in Theme Park Discussion
During a recent Xmas Party visit I noticed the roadwork outside the Superman entry between Arkham that leads toward the, well, let's face it; 'former' Studio Administration Building Entrance, now heavily marked.. Looks to me like we may be seeing the start of a successful MW Theme Park boundary extension across toward Studio foreign land! ..and yes... I expect the new Coaster is at least planned to unload around here. If not the former -
^ count on it.

I wonder, could the colouring of the sign be a clue to the Theme? -
Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
MickeyD replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just bought season passes for my partner and I for Xmas.. CAN'T WAIT to spend more time back at DW over the next year and show my support and gratitude for the years of happy memories? -
I appreciate your insight too, thanks for sharing @mba2012. Having attended High School on the GC myself I recall learning about this phenomenon in the History of the area. Something that always perplexed me why so many Environmental Activists have jumped up and down so much about developing the area.. Clearly a lack of knowledge of History perhaps? All said and done, much of it was underwater barely a Century ago!

Thanks @AlexB that's a pretty interesting read!! I stand happily corrected? It's interesting how this body of land compares similarily to the massive sand islands to the North (the Straddies, Morton, Bribie and Fraser) and how over time they formed, breaking away from the Mainland. I was always of the understanding that the Spit was extended and changed to stabilise the Wild waters of the Bar between Stradbroke and the Mainland?
-
The 'Spit' is entirely reclaimed land.. just saying

Hahahahahahahahaha WoW @joz can you please go back to SW and take the place over? ?
-
I think this is a great move on part of Village - making extra use out of an existing investment for very little cost. Carnivale is a great fit for SW, so long as the Millionaire Bacon is back, I will be happy?

Doomsday Destroyer - reviews and feedback
MickeyD replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It feels too controlled and gives no swinging or free falling experience, at least not how it has been experienced so far. I have spoken about this already in previous reviews.. The unique Villian's area as a whole is a vast improvement, easily enough. I believe the ride experience of DD itself has somewhat missed the mark for what it was meant to offer - Villians themselves should be surprising and chaotic characters and the ride is controlled, anything but. The ride itself is capable of producing more power so during it's downtime I hope they explore it's capabilities to offer a more 'Dynamic' experience this Holiday period. -

Fingers crossed for an improved DD ride experience when it reopens -
Thunderbolt had 4 blocks.. 1. Boarding / disembark 2. Lift hill 3. Ride itself and first brake run (covered with a tunnel around late 80's) 4. Second trim brake set. The ride could run with 3 trains. Not sure if someone on here could verify, it may indeed have been the case ( that DW owned 3 trains)
-
The Thunderbolt had 2 trains which like MW, ran both on busier days

!!!Happy 35th Dreamworld!!! The great Passion of it's People along with the Millions of us who have and always will Love the Park, a great big beautiful tomorrow is not only hoped for DW, it's assured. Whilst it may not seem that way in the short term, the hundreds of millions of fond memories that People carry will always outstrip that of one horrific incident in the long run.

@joz remember years ago there was a Holiday event called Carnival or something similar? They brought in a bunch of travelling Carni rides and the whole thing was set up where Shark Bay is today. Still for 10 million they could get 2 decent flats and a mouse to breathe some much needed life? You're not alone on your second point - WnW could definitely benefit with broadening the base theme to add in other attractions that compliment the slides as well as to give the Park more year round appeal
-
Very pleased to hear SW moving forward to announce plans for a major new attraction, however a 2019 opening is a tad outrageous given how long the Park has had to wait already. I desperately hope there are plans for at least two new flats in the mean time and I'm totally in favour of @Jobe suggestion to bring over WnW's Surf rider at the absolute least. The Wild Wave Galaxy Mouse ride was always a huge hit back in the day.. 1 thrill & 1 family ride are needed as a bare minimum over the next 2 years and can be done inexpensively.

The Flash sells as a name for a Coaster and would be instantly recognised for what it is... Even if the Character himself has never had quite the same level of success or the Reputation that such a ride would immediately own. -

My money is on Flash. A title that has never done well in film.. but as a Coaster . . just brilliant -

From source "Gold Coast Convention and visitors Bureau" website: The region attracts over 12 million visitors and approximately 12,500 new residents each year, making it one of the fastest growing cities in Australia. Delegates visiting the Gold Coast spend an average 3.8 days in the region – more than any other Queensland destination. -
Songcheng Legendary Kingdom in Nerang
MickeyD replied to Jamberoo Fan's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Taronga's Ferry is an example of a fantastic way to arrive and depart the Zoo, unfortunately the Vistas from Surfers to Nerang/Carrara are far less impressive. There are a few more challenges to face when considering such a Project: 1.How many paying Guests would be willing to shell out the extra $$$ - or would this be part of the package? 2. Assuming the above, what extra benefits could be offered to entice people aboard like Lounge, Dining and Beverage services? I imagine a cruise that offered unlimited drinks and buffet that changed over the day/evening would be a very enticing package for many. 3. Offering regular Ferry services up and down the Nerang River will no doubt substantially increase the traffic on the River - a waterway previously owned by Thousands of households with little to no disruption. There would surely be a massive fight to get this passed. 4. To get locals over the line and provide it as a true Public Transportation system, other Ports would have to be added along the route, further lengthening the journey. -

It's interesting to see how so many of us are Tall-Poppying the idea of the Project before it is barely more than just that. A Project. Myself, I'm actually quite excited by the whole thing. In many ways it reprises the original ideals of the good ol Dreamworld days of the 1980's and indeed that too of the original WB's Movie World of the 90's. That is before it became 6FlagsVillageWorld as we know it today. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I am sure that the whole Park design and feel will continue to evolve before ground has broken on it and indeed long after too no doubt should it be successful, based on that of Predecessors. In an environment like the Gold Coast, shows and experiences alone do not deliver timely success. To be sure, it will need more than just that to stand up to test the times. Regardless of the wow factor. Rides will do that. In successful Theme Parks they always have and always will. -
I think this marks some very exciting times for Aussieworld and the surrounding precinct. The original Designer of the Pub even welcomed the re-design to bring it into a new Era. . Personally I think it looks terrific and the big surrounding Verandah gives it a 'Queenslander' look. It's pretty clear that with changes like this and the removal / replacement of certain attractions, the Owners are serious about Aussieworld's future. Definately looking forward to seeing this happen
