I'm sorry Cadboy no need to be so rude about it but some ride systems i know for a fact and many others will also is that when a ride system such as superman's when the train gets to a central area on the trains path it will reach a detection point, Detection points on superman if this is the case would be the station load and unload, maintenance bay, launch sector, brake sector and the main friction wheel run at the facade station in the dark ride section. When it reaches one of these detection points it uploads the trains current conditions eg the reason maybe for the ride stopping on the long friction run area very often when i buckle is undone. So this could be the case not a wireless system so seeing you seem to all about it how about you fill us in on your knowledge.
-
That I'm not 100% sure good question though anyone who knows about intamin ride systems more than i do might be able to answer that question. My guess would have to wireless though i have never heard of a wireless system on a roller coaster train before.

Just a quick update HWSD/Park tv commercial was shot yesterday before the park opened and on the shows set after the park opened so i got a chance to be a part of it all, Show wise i thought the sets looked good last week but now very very nice they have added more detail most of it is done except for the left hand side. The show also looks very good being able to see it up close and personal the loudness of the cars also adds to the shows atmosphere. Cadboy and others The cantilevered car jump is very much like the car on PASS that got blown up and did the flip except this concept is the car does a long length jump off one of the set's roofs. how it works is everyone has seen the track for it in the photo's that had been published well since then the set that covers the track is now complete so you dont know were the track is there now. A shell of one of the evo's is attached to a arm which is on wheels and is attched to the track allows the car to seemlesly jump from one building to another infront of the big screen. Its hard to explain but once you see the show the effect is pulled off very well. Set construction wise im not sure who but my best guess would be FX illusion. We will soon find out.

For those interested in this topic still. During a run yesterday Maintenance was called from HWSD to asses a system failer on Superman Escape so i got to head over with them to see what had happen it was very interesting. A year 6 student here with his school had decided to undo his seatbelt just in front of the waterflow steps in the dark ride section. This then gave me a chance to ask a few questions as this topic was the first thing that came to my head at the time. Are the seats sensored??? Yes, Back when Superman had its down time earlier this year buckle sensors were installed, This is why most of us said no the trains didnt have sensors as to the fact they weren't originaly installed on the ride and it was a visual detection from on ride staff as explained by DEAP he has hit the nail on the head about the sensor device i had a close look before the train was reversed back into the station the whole device is inside what looks like a pretty dodgy job to keep it all together, but a silver casing holds the device together which is pretty much a button that is pushed down when the seat belt is down up this button is then forced on the a eletrical component, sending through a memory to the rides system so it knows who is on the ride and what seats are being used. When the buckle is undone the eletrical component and button are no longer forced together sending the info from the train to the control room which then the ride recevies a system failer of fault. Then all in que are warned riders are taken off the ride, train reversed, then go through opening procedures (two test runs) and your ride is up and running again. jbrissenden hope that answers your question.

Dreamworld to get virtual queuing in two weeks time
S.W24 replied to glennborthwick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
As much as i hate these types of jump the Que systems i would much rather prefer see a copy of Disney's fasspast system in our parks than this stupid pager. But then again it will be very interesting to see how well it does after its one year trial. Also think of the cost involved for a paying guest say $30 for the use of the system on top of that say a $50 deposit families are not going to get this for everyone that is with them. I think its a rip. -
Yes it is Daily Planet, and Alex its correct that screen will not be going anywhere. Think about it new show why would they use the already used screen and put the new screen on main street ????? wouldn't it make a bit of sense to put the new screen with the new show i don't know about you but that would be my thought.
-
Derwan hopefully, well we didn't hope enough because all this week there were barely any smoke and i don't think there was any hazers on at all same for today anyone who went to the park by chance would have realise that there was no fog in sight and the last drop had no fog either. As for the new laser on the opposite end of the building it is bloody brilliant very good programing with some great effects that would look excellent with some fog.

SE safety clips are in no way sensor-ed to detect it from coming undone as said above most people i know will undo there belt when they hit the brake pads. Unlike the Batman adventure ride simulators those seat belts as all of us know are sensor detected i have seen the ride stop many a times because smart ass kids decide to undo them and see if they can go through the ride without it kinda like riding a bucking bull attraction. In the case of Superman Escape all operators who work in the monitoring room which is in the top right hand corner of the loading bay have a numerous amount of inside and outside monitors which they can view the ride in operation. It is possible for a operator to see this happen on the monitors but has only happen a few times they travel at a fairly decent pace and most monitors are looking at the back of the train not front on so i would say it was a coincidence that someone had taken there belt off while another minor fault was detected and the ride was then E-stopped. But in saying that it is still possible for it to be seen.

Ash hand it to you good thinking mate, The exact same thought has come to mind also after seen it close up its actually not a jump or ramp i think you will find it is going to be kinda like a over pass bridge that as Ash said you get access from left to right and so on and you will be also able to see the cars as they go along adding to the effect of them being everywhere. I Also think that our giant screen will be located beneath that as there is no other area on the site that shows some sort of evidence of the screen going anywhere else but right in the middle. The screen thing that is just my thought anyone who wants top have a look at the site iv been told you ca get a good view from the Road Runner Roller Coaster lift.

As much as i would like to believe you here but we will see on Wed if your telling the truth or not plus we will also find out if WVTP approved it also i guess. But the footage couldn't be on the shows site seeing the set and other aspects of the arena are still under construction. Plus you said you have the footage which means it would have had to be taken last week or earlier the arena was no were near ready for any training to begin the set had only just started being done and only one side is close to completion at the moment. So i don't see there being anyway footage that is of the show in the arena maybe in the training area located in the car park but as far as i know no training has began on site.

All points taken on board 1) The road is really no loose it is like a deserted alley behind there the only purposes for it is to transport entertainment staff from the green room near office to the show building (aka stage show arena) there is other ways of getting there that just happens to be slightly quicker and till the stunt show construction finishes the floats are currently being kept down behind WWF till January so they use that road. 2) facades are no problem Movieworld is pretty good at creating facades seeing 70% of the park is full of them and any Movie World attraction requires theeing so there is no problem there. 3) There is room this exact idea has been on the cards once before was actually spoken about a few months ago on this forum also. 4) yes, noise is the major issue I'm sure they could find away around it, Nearby residents kicked up a stink when WWF DA was going through but they still managed to find away and the drop wall didn't appear till some time after the attraction opened and was not in the original plans from what iv been told they put it up to try and stop some regular complaints by residents. For god sake you choose to live near a theme park what do you expect it was there way before most residents that now live there its the same as Luna park in Sydney well very similar.

Breaking news: Village to buy Aussie World
S.W24 replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
On Sunday the Sunday mail released this article in which i think we will all find most interesting. Water park gets closer A $110 million plan to build the Adventura Water Park near Caloundra will be assessed by Sunshine Coast Regional Council in the next few weeks. The theme park which could be operating by 2010 is one of two earmarked for the area. The other is a $70 million attraction proposed by Village Roadshow at nearby Aussie World on the Bruce highway. Adventure spokesperson Tony Long said the project was forging ahead despite the threat of competition. "we've passed through the public notification stage and in the next couple of weeks we'll undergo assessment with council," he said. "Once we have the council's final response on assessment, it will simply be a matter of refining the design." "We have a good site and a financially sound attraction for the coast." Mmmmm very interesting. -
Ha Ha good to see you all notice my presence.

Cadboy just to answer you question about lethal weapon being one of the smoothest in the world from what i can remember and after talking to friends and family who haven't been to Movie World in some time from what they can remember also it was a very smooth coaster in its prime (First few years) i can remember my dad would always complement the fact it was so smooth and for now these days it has taken a complete turn now being a ride a lot of guests wont go on after there first go, I talk to many park guests all the time and i get the same response my ears hurt. Countless times iv seen both men and women both crying because of the pain it causes some people, In saying that i don't have a problem with it i got a chance to ride it twice today and didn't have a problem with my ears once. My advice to guests take on board the op's staff's advice they are the ones who know how to correctly position your self so you can minimize head banging and other useful tips while riding any ride. With the whole coaster debate for Movie World next year i have two things to say: 1. I recon it might just be bye bye to the giant picture facade in the western area allowing a new travel path to a wooden coaster out the back. 2. In saying what i said above it wouldn't surprise me if it isn't a coaster at all they have 4 inc RRRC i don't think that will be the approach taken at all.

Djrappa sorry for the misunderstanding as mentioned by bros when saying not officially released to the public i was referring to the show not yet been open sorry for the mix up I'm sure most people knew what i meant, but i doesn't surprise me that yet again you have ago at my post's you always seem to have something negative to say about them its kinda like routine now wouldn't you say. As for the fact of me telling people facts about parks I'm not being hypocritical as i know what i can and cant say, i also get permission before showing or saying some information that i know may not be allowed to be seen or heard by the out side public.
-
Cadboy is absolutely correct the attraction itself has not been officially released yet to the public and no such press release has been made for the new attraction as far as i know so WVTP are not going to allow permission for a armature video of a attraction that hasn't even had any proper footage as yet been taken for promotional purposes except digitally designed promo images. I would also like to say i cant seen your friend taking any decent video footage of the site and show as not even the company building the set and design are aloud to take any photos for there own person portfolio of the job due to how secure WVTP is on the show staff are only just being aloud on site next week i think i heard to have a look at there new work area unless he or she is one of them they are not allowed any photographic devices on site during there visit, the first video shots will be by official photographers for advertising purposes by WVTP and this will begin in a few weeks to come. If you don't believe me contact PR i have a family member who is in PR and is the brand manager for Sea World and Movie World.
-
Tim i hope you are going to contact PR department at WVTP before releasing video footage of the show before opening date as they have been watching these site regularly lately and they I'm pretty sure they don't want any video no re photographic images of the show set or aspects of the show show this will then lead to this site its self being hounded at to remove the video and we don't want a repeat of before please get permission first.

Gazza to answer your question seeing no one else is being a help, From previous discussion the date 15th of Dec was mentioned as being the shows launch date hasn't been confirmed by the park it was just up in the air but from what i have heard now is that the 15th of Dec is not the case seeing it will clash with the launch of the stingray enclosure at Sea world on the 15th. But as far as i know the show is on track and on schedule the set is near completion i would say by the end of next week work has been going fast for those interested in having a little sneak peak ride the road runner roller coaster the set and arena can be seen while you are going up the chain lift (and i don't need to be corrected i know the lift uses friction wheels) And as i mentioned before when correcting that Chris Character the cars are not falling apart they are a very decent car and if you ask me a very well suited to the demand of a day to day stunt show like Hollywood stunt driver (Djrappa i would just like to add from your little post the other day when i questioned that Chris character I'm not going to question someone unless i know the actual answer or correct facts as demonstrated he was full of **** and his posts were completely incorrect so maybe be sure next time before you have ago at me) Otherwise i hope that answers your question Gazza
-
Wow that's funny that Chris character who was on here before didn't last long now did he its like he was never on the board no more post's nothing i wonder why that is.
-
Thanks Djrappa I'm glad you found it funny cause i also do. Thought id try and throw in the little joke at the end.

Question how long have the cars been away for because i seen them on sat looking good as new. Plus i would just like to add that there is no way that they are going to trade the cars few reason's why: 1. Total and absolute waste of time getting these cars doing them up then saying Na we don't want them now they don't work for us. I can assure you the park would have looked into so many types of cars they would have looked at performance, reliability so many other things they wouldn't just go and say ooo lets go buy ten evo's they will look good for the show. 2. All the advertisement and campaign stuff that has the evo's all over them even the parks billboard has the evo's on it. 3. I'm pretty sure you will find that Mitsubishi is a sponsor for the show and they aren't going to cancel a contract and go and trade there cars in for something new. and last but not least Dec 15 the current show release date is coming up very very quickly and i highly doubt they will put it back again, think of all the new training that will have to go on with new cars not to mention that the arena size has been made perfect for these cars both for backstage driving areas which are very confined, The ramp so that the cars can get from one end to the other. I would also like to add i have two close friends in the show i talk to almost every day and from what they have said those cars go bloody well one in which has actually gone and bought him self a evo as his own personal car. so, Go figure!!!!!!!!

Anyway back on topic Does anyone know any more info on whether the lasers and hazers on the attraction are being fixed Chrisdeaves you said you are a engineer for MW meaning you work in Maintenance I'm sure you should be able to fill us in on the current situation.

Do you think they will close batman adventure the ride 2 soon
S.W24 replied to a topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd just like to add that the Batman Adventure ride isn't going anywhere soon no re in the near future this discussion has been brought up before between MW management and op's as said above the current plan is to give the ride a full tech refurbishment bring the rides technology into this day and age for example the replacement of all the monitors in the Bat cave, Batman is also going to be due for a major makeover. The reason why it ain't going anywhere is it still has major potential it is very much like PASS it was a wise move having a show based around a film that still had a long way to go with more and more films keeping the show in its prime element thus it was a huge hit and a very well known franchise in its time, Batman is the same it may have had a quite period from say 2000 - till when the Batman begins movie came out but the new films are coming keeping it relevant. By the end of next year if there is talk of a next Batman Movie which i'm sure iv heard talk of one we will see a updated ride and film to be there alongside the new movie. And It ain't going to Sea world i can assure you of that one. -
After hearing numours advertisements of this years Odyssey 09 NYE event on the radio i straight away assumed this being Dreamworlds event for the past 2 years what will the park be doing for this years event. But i was shocked to find that not one word was mentioned about Dreamworld and then found that the event this year is going to be held at Carrara sports complex. I then found this small peace of insight on the website. After careful consideration and analysis of our previous events, the Odyssey team made the informed decision to upgrade venues and take up residence this year at Carrara Sports Complex; a short 10 min trip down the road from its old stomping ground at Dreamworld. We received substantial feedback from patrons who attended Odyssey at Dreamworld and discovered that the cramped conditions of the theme park was mainly an inconvenience to most party goers. It was also noted that there was not enough room for revellers to get a good view of their favourite bands and really soak up the live entertainment- the key element which makes Odyssey such a spectacular night! And with this year's intense superstar line up featuring the likes of internationally acclaimed Aussie rock gods Jet, as well as big names Eskimo Joe, Grinspoon, The Butterfly Effect, Bliss n Eso, Phrase, Malente and Sam La More (with more to be announced), it was imperative that we amplified the space in which we hosted such an event to ensure we could fit everyone in! Regardless of the venue change, we are still keeping with past tradition by continuing to strive for value-for-money with an all inclusive ticket which includes all your drinks, amazing fireworks displays and a cracker line up. We have not changed our winning transport system either which has assisted so may attendees in getting from A to B at past Odyssey events. Here at Odyssey, we too agree with our patrons that there's nothing like thrill-seeking, fun rides to help celebrate such a joyous occasion like New Years Ever. It is for this reason that we have have added a range of amusements to light up the grounds at Carrara Sporting Complex and thus add to the overall atmosphere of this winning event. Whether you want to be swung around gently, whisked through the air or turned inside out and upside down, there will be a ride for everyone's tastes at this years Odyssey. Do you think it was a wise move to change locations??? My opinion a let down seeing the atmosphere at the park would be so much better and allowing for more feature attractions like the big thrill rides.
