New HSD2 show at Movieworld this week
pushbutton replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I agree with the magician. Vast improvement on the most recent show. Even the waiting time before the show was made fun. My only real criticisms are: 1. Stunts are frankly unimpressive. 2. I overheard a child ask "where did all the fire come from?", and I was thinking the same thing! At least at the end when we watched the results on the big screen, the explanation became a bit clearer. The same child said "so that's where the fire came from"! Again, I thought likewise. As I said though, it's a big improvement, and a very enjoyable show once again. -

Well, this is the new China Town attraction. Now open (well, now closed technically)! -

I agree based on the photos above, it looks to be much better than I had been anticipating. However I'll have to reserve my judgement until I see it in person the week after next. I can say I am now very much looking forward to seeing it though. -

That's going to confuse a lot of guests. You don't change a show but still call it the same name (especially when you know that the name is associated with a previous show that didn't really work)! Regardless, I will go and see it in a couple of weeks. -

Perhaps they need to employ someone to take care of the websites. -
Oh. I've never experienced any of those effects at Sea World. I suppose it's not as basic as I thought!

The "all new Hollywood Stunt Driver 2" is still being advertised on the Movie World website! -
Movement detectors are used on Wild West Falls. I think as a general rule, newer rides are more likely to use an integrated track control system. It does depend on the nature of the ride though. For example, on Wild West Falls much of the ride is on water, and there is no track suitable for a track control system. Therefore effects need another way to trigger and movement sensors are used.

Thanks for that. Always intinformation.het a little inside information

For it to have 4d effects it would have to be in a specially designed cinema with the necessary equipment (like the Roxy theatre at Movie World). The cinema at Sea World is just a basic cinema and cannot provide these. Personally I'd really like the one at Sea World to be upgraded into a 7d cinema like the one in Surfers Paradise.

Thanks for that. Always interesting to get a little inside knowledge.

Imeant you can hear the voice but nothing moves. As for the axes, I sometimes wonder if staff just forget to switch them on sometimes. They obviously do work!

I doubt they'd put up construction site hoardings just to have somewhere to store rubbish. There is already a fence behind the hoardings, so they could use the space behind that fence to store rubbish. My prediction is the Peter Brooks cars will go in front of the fence, probably with some theming around them (the fence will be painted to suggest a race track environment). If so, I would hope that the China town theming would also be removed as it would be very out of placenot that that would be anything new)!(n Not something that makes me excited, but perhaps slightly better than juscream painted plywood in front of a Chinese style gateway. -
Yesterday afternoon the axes were not swinging, but the last Scooby was talking. I've NEVER seen the last Scooby moving.

That's odd. My photos are back again!

No worries Oceangirl, but the photos I uploaded seem to have disappeared I'm afraid.

The name is ok to me, provided it makes sense in the context of the actual show. Hopefully it will, and more importantly the show will be great. -

Well HWSD2 didn't last long. Maybe the MD or CEO went and saw it! Or maybe they got sufficient negative guest feedback to persuade them it wasn't good enough. I look forward to seeing the new show, and hope it will impress! -

I didn't think it would be so soon. That's good. My brother is coming over for a visit on 7th June for a week, so I'll most likely see it for the first time at the same time he does. -

Sounds like she was just saying precisely what she'd been told by management to say if guests ask any questions about any unconfirmed future plans (nothing)! -
As you might have seen, Dreamworld is having a "Stormtrooper Weekend". Basically a great excuse for adults who like Star Wars to dress up as Star Wars characters and act like little kids! There is also a pretty good Star Wars themed Lego exhibition. Here's a few pics I snapped today. It's on again tomorrow if you missed it.

Billabong Restaurant at Dreamworld. I don't suppose the quality of the food was ever up there with the very best restaurants in the world, but I do remember a few years ago enjoying a meal there which at least seemed quite good in terms of taste and choices. More than that though I remember the theming. There were trees growing in the middle of the restaurant. Heck, even the toilet seats had various critters in them (not as bad as it sounds)! Today I had lunch there. Main course was either roast or a small selection of cheap looking (no doubt from frozen) meals like lasagna, nuggests, and chips. I just had the roast. Shaved meat with a few drops of gravy already on it in the serving tin. There was also pork belly, which looked nice but contained virtually no edible meat. They hadn't bothered to actually roast the potatoes, but they were at least edible. The best part was the vegetables, which were actually roasted and quite nice. Desert. Well that meant waiting behind those who just wanted to get a hot drink (very poorly set up), only to be confronted with a selection of tiny thimbles of jelly, or about 5 little cubes of very cheap (presumably frozen then thawed) carrot cake. Oh, and there was soft serve ice cream. The ice cream was probably the best desert, but I really couldn't be bothered after the above experience. I might still not have minded quite as much about the food had the restaurant still looked as it had on my last visit in 2013, but for reasons I just can't comprehend, they have removed every last bit of theming and now it's just like any suburban basic cheap pub buffet. Cost was $25 for passholders. So disappointing, and I won't bother again unless they improve both the ambiance and the food quite a lot.

Attractions similar to those in the Gold Coast

Yes ours definitely has a nicer mountain, and also a better Western Town I think too. I'm still amazed how similar that one is though as I had thought it was a unique ride (but obviously not). -

So what is this attraction going to be then. A car? I have one in my garage and I drive it every day, including to get to theme parks! Oh well.
