Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
alex_1 replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Unfortunately, the guy I talked to didn't work at Dippin Dots, so I can't really trust him as a reliable source of information :/ -
Jacko, they still have Roadrunner, Scooby Doo and Wild West Falls for family. I thought Batman was crap anyway, waste of time with the corny pre show and the simulator wasn't even a good one. I've experienced a better simulator ride in a small mall amusement park in Dubai with a wrap around screen and air effects. Batman seemed really dated and lame compared to it, which is possibly part of the reason it was closed down.

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
alex_1 replied to ads086's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well though we already probably knew this, I was chatting with a ride attendant yesterday and he confirmed that over that maintenance period coming up Lethal Weapon would be fixed up with new trains. Wouldn't say anything about a retheme though. He also said a new family ride is coming up, though that just may be common Movieworld belief. -
I was curious about the manufacturer or Reef Diver, so I looked it up and here on Parkz it states that its an S.D.C Enterprise. However, it says that in 2000 the last model was replaced by a new one. Was the old one also an S.D.C or was it made by another manufacturer? (Schwarzkopf, HUSS ect)

Your Top 5 Best Rides or Worst rides ever That I you been on
alex_1 replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Roadrunner somehow still gets into my top 5 and it was my 13th coaster... Don't look at me, Im a dirty credit whore (then again its hard not to be one in a country with only 20 coasters give or take) -
I find it very odd that Village Roadshow has taken out 3 family dark rides with no replacements planned. They should realise that this could very well give Dreamworld the upper hand, and dare I say it is. Village Roadshow should see this very clearly? Then again, Movieworld and Village Roadshows possibly have the crappiest marketing and PR system in existence; "Hey we have the steepest coaster in the world! Oh wait no we dont. And we keep saying we'll tell you the opening date but in reality we'll just randomly without warning announce that the new coaster is open! Yay!" So I wouldnt be surprised if they dont have any replacements planned for the 3 rides and that all 3 will rot away like the Mine Ride at Dreamworld. I mean really, unless you have a replacement ready, why close 2 family rides before the holidays? It makes no sense at all. /rant

^ Movieworld announced that GL would be closed for unplanned maintenance yesterday and today. Hopefully the thing won't break down every 5 minutes after the work is done... Funnily they're still getting complaints from the public "Well you should have sorted it out before opening! You know nothing about marketing ect ect" Those idiots just dont understand coasters at all.
-
Yeah I know why they like it, but I just find it kind of sad Superman is being forgotten when it really is an amazing coaster. And TBH, I didn't find GL all that great. I mean, it was a good coaster, but to me its "just a fancy El Loco". Just my opinion.

Here's my Submission: Looney Tunes Adventure Plains. All rides from the previous Kids Area have been replaced (the shops remain, however). Dark Ride - Bugs Bunny Great Chase Coaster - Tassie Twister Kids Play Area - Daffy Duck's Arial Adventure Parents Rest Spot - Porky Pig Parents Retreat I suck at drawing so I used mostly description and some pics from google that are similar to my concept. Here's the PDF file with more info: Looney Tunes Adventure Plains.pdf

Whoever said GL may push Superman to the back may be right. The "General Public" are already convinced its the best coaster in Australia. I had no idea a cloned El Loco was better than a one of a kind Intamin Accelerator? Well, you learn something new each day.

What rides have you gotten stuck on, or have seen broken down?
alex_1 replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I didnt notice that Luna Park was in a bad condition at all. Probably because Ive never been to that sort of amusement park before and assumed they must all be like that. -
I've made a powerpoint but I'm on a Mac so I cant really post it as a video file as I'm not sure how. Can I attatch as a PDF like Gazza said? Also, does it matter when I submit it? My only concern is if I submit early other people participating (if anyone is) may "copy".

If You had a theme park what will you name it ?
alex_1 replied to Jacko's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Eight Flags over Tits and its neighboring waterpark, WetDreamWorld. -
Would be quite an interesting experience waking up all confused to realize you're on top of the tallest coaster in the world
-
I found the audio extremely annoying. Everyone else in the line would groan every time it played, and one person even tried to punch the parallax statue in an attempt to shut it up. Just some music wouldve been fine. Even the audio would be more bearable if the oath wasn't said in such a stupid way, and if they gave parallax a butter menthol. Just saying.

^ Am I the only one who finds that list very sad? The fact runaway rep tar made it in the top 5 is quite sad, and the fact Booma Zoomer is no 1 makes me want to cry. -

Oh I forgot green lantern. Waited 2 hours while it continuously broke down. Never got a turn. -
Well it's good to see I'm not the only one who has blacked out on Superman. I'm not too bothered about a small grey out, but I was just thinking that maybe something like Intimidator 305 would give me an awful blackout if superman could give me a mild one.

Life? I got stuck on metropolis's lift hill today at Luna Park. Also saw Power Surge break down. -
On Monday I queued for 2 hours watching GL break down every 5 mins. They'd let 2 train loads of people on, then the chain would stop and they'd send about 10 test cars through. Very irritating sitting in the sun listening to the extremely annoying queue audio every 5 seconds. We got stuck listening to Parallax for an hour before we had enough and left the queue. VERY pissed off. I know new rides break down but this is just ridiculous.
-
I rode superman twice on Monday, both times in the back seat and both times I greyed out for a couple of seconds on the first turn into the camelback. Nothing major, but it surprised me as I've ridden superman a few times in the front and middle of the train and never had that problem. Back seat does seem to be more intense, as well as a bit more rough. I feel a bit embarrassed about it as I know superman isn't exactly the most intense ride, so I wouldn't stand a chance on some of the rides in America, namely Intimidator 305. It may have been because I was dehydrated that day or maybe I'm just pathetic. Have you ever blacked out / greyed out on a ride?
-
Okay, after riding again yesterday, my opinion that it should go is stronger than ever. If I could, I would personally get a wrecking ball and crush that ride to pieces. Evil death machine it is, so painful to the point of it not being fun whatsoever. I rated it as a 7/10 before, now it's dropped to 4/10. I place Roadrunner over it any day.

1. Superman (though I did 2 rides in the back today and found them quite rough and I even greyed out for a second on both rides) 2. TOT II for the adrenaline rush 3. Scooby doo surprised me riding for the first time today, it's more thrilling then I expected and the theming is top notch. 4. Spingear, a little known gerstlauer spinning coaster in an indoor park in Dubai, actually a LOT of fun. 5. Roadrunner takes the spot above Cyclone and Lethal Weapon, especially after my painful ride on LW today. I found roadrunner to actually be a heap of fun! I know, I'm a dirty credit whore. Keep in mind I'm not including flat rides. Also, after a 2 hour wait for green lantern while it broke down every 5 mins, we decided to leave the queue as we were missing out on rides plus getting exhausted by the heat and stupid queue line audio.
