  1. But how do you determine the quality of the ride? Is a quality ride one with lots of movement, or is it one with lots of themeing?
  2. For anyone who's ridden on it, do they teach (and to some extent try to enforce) any basic road rules in the way the attractions at Legoland do? Or do they essentially just let people drive around as they wish?
  3. A friend of mine was saying the other day that on Arkham Asylum, he was able to prevent the horrible squeezing by the harness by applying force on it during the ride. I'm wondering, has anyone else tried and succeeded in doing this?
  4. Nope. All of this "high alert" terrorism stuff is just politics to make the government look like they're doing something to an essentially non-existent threat in Australia.
  5. Can someone just explain to me why we're complaining about Justice League now? Because I do believe (correct me if I'm wrong) we were all super excited and amazed by it when it opened.
  6. That's 12 million visits, not visitors. The majority of people visiting the Gold Coast are people from within about 2 hours drive of the Gold Coast. Only about 1 million of those are international visitors and about 5 million are domestic visitors (not local). I do admit, our parks do need some amazing new rides, but with it costing about 3 times more to build/do things (based off minimum wage levels) here than it does in America, I don't really see that happening.
  7. You might think that they're in the middle of nowhere, but really, the catchment area for those parks could be five times the population of the south east Queensland. Alton towers for example, is located in the middle of nowhere, you need to go down small country roads to get to it, but within two hours drive of the park, are about 10-14 million people. The number of people within two hours drive of Dreamworld is about 3 million people. Even if only half of the population goes to a theme park, Alton towers will still get more visitors than population in South East Queensland. So, you're very, very wrong when you say a Gold Coast theme park would make 100x more than a random six flags. If south east Queensland had a population (tourist visitation) of 10-14 million people, then we might be able to see some amazing B&M's, but we don't, so we can't.
  8. I do think I'd prefer it if they kept spending their budget on making bad ads for good rides and not good ads for bad rides.
  9. It looks like there's a hose or pipe of some sort on the ground, so I'm assuming they just hosed it down.
  10. Yeah, Adventure Parc is still down there (or at least it was in March).
  11. ^ I'd love to try something like that out. You could do an awful lot with it.
  12. As far as I've been told, most of the farmland out behind the studios and WnW is owned by village Roadshow.
  13. It looks like they're being a bit more careful with removing the corkscrews, which could be a sign that they do want to do something with them.
  14. ^ Yeah, as I said, I'm not sure. But you'd think they'd be a bit more happening if it's expected to be opening in 8 or so weeks?
  15. I'm not 100% sure but when driving past WnW today it looked like there were some slide parts in place or at least on site.
  16. My guess would be that it's where they've been finding (or were trying to find) cracks. It looks like they've stripped away the paint covering the major joins in the track. Hopefully the corkscrews aren't in too bad of a state, I'm hoping they'll do something like Alton Towers did with their corkscrew and set up the corkscrews on display at the front of the park.
  17. I'd love to ride a launched flying coaster. Possibly themed to an aircraft carrier which is launching jets.
  18. There's a lot of fairly mild stuff at disneyland. One ride I'd certainly recommend is Haunted Mansion because its pretty gentle and my mum likes it
  19. Seems odd that Village Roadshow would operate a 20th Century Fox park since they have such close ties to TimeWarner.
  20. It does use Linear Induction Motors though, so it should be breaking down less than a ride like Superman.
  21. This is very sad news. Hopefully they'll be able to replace it with something just as good and iconic.
  22. How mini are we talking when we say "mini"? I'm visualising something very small, but I know that can't be right. I just couldn't see something like Kamikaze working very well if it was much smaller (although it may be possible, I haven't ridden it for a few years now).
  23. If an adult (I'm assuming that this worker is an adult) was testing one of the cars that may mean parents might be able to be more involved in the ride than you would have though (as in they'd fit).
