Sea world admitted they weren't sure whether the polar was pregnant, until it actually gave birth (because its very difficult to test a polar bear, and polar bear babies are born tiny, so weight gain was minimal). They has strong suspicions though. On looking back through the previous map images, the site in question basically always looked like that, but I can't see anywhere else for them to build it? Sea world will milk the baby polar bear for all it's worth, so they will want it on display as much as possible when it is able to be out. So it makes sense to want a separate exhibit (like the tiger cub display at dreamworld).

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013

Here is the latest nearmap image of the storm construction zone (17 May) -
here is the latest nearmap image of Sea worlds polar bears shores - with construction happening in the red circle - of a rumoured extension to the exhibit for the new cub and mother to go on display without interfering with the 2 other boys (as they cannot go on display together for the cubs safety.)

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013

I also highly doubt there going to extend it when they just redone the trough in concrete, I assume they are just closing it to allow complete access to the area for the storm construction, as well as some maintenance while they have access. -
Haha no, lets just say he's more of a wetsuit kind of guy.

I got some inside information from a mate at uni that works there and he said, the attraction is not called Wild, just that Sea world is going wild, and that the name in the works at the moment is Congo Island, and the opening date has been revised back to 2015. The date has been pushed back because, the land that has been reclaimed from the lake can't be built on for about 12months after reclamation has been completed. I can say that they are in fact getting gorillas, 2 hippos, and crocodiles.
-
Well it is fairly common knowledge that Sea World planned to house Hippo's a few years back (but was cancelled and Ray Reef opened instead), so perhaps these plans are finally coming to fruition. Though I really don't think Sea World will be housing live Gorillas, I just don't see how they could come up with enough room to do so, and surely there would have been some media hype around it if a QLD attraction had secured gorillas.

I have access, however the Gold Coast maps haven't been updated since August 2012, but I will post pics as soon as they are updated.

I think some people are getting confused over the term soundstage. A sound stage is basically a large sound proof shed for filming movies and television scenes. The "ride sheds" at movie world are not soundstages at all they are only themed to soundstages to fit the "movie theme" of the park with the soundstage numbers listed on the sides. The what's up rock show was in a large theatre style shed with the name soundstage ## on the side for theming, not a real soundstage at all. Yes you could technically stick a ride in there, a carousel or similar small flat ride would easily fit with the stage removed, but where is the point in that. I also agree that the LTRR building should be used to its fullest potential. I'd say the mini cars rode will enter at the old marvin ride and use a tiny percentage of the LTTR building. While a larger family dark ride can be built in the remaing area with the entry in the same place as the old river ride was. The space in there is massive, including those pre-ride show rooms you could fit the justice league ride in there a few times over.

I'm lucky I get free access to Nearmaps through my university, I'll post screen captures if there is anything worth seeing.
-
I'm waiting for Nearmaps to update hopefully in the next week or so for a clearer view of the "behind the scenes area" to see if it can shed some more light on the subject. (and other construction- seaworld storm coaster, wet n wild Sydney etc.).

I highly doubt they would make the track longer for the vikings ride after just shortening it. They would have already known the layout and footprint of the water coaster before shortening the vikings ride and obviously made the new track to fit into that space, it's probably only closing for so long while they do most of the construction on the water coaster, I would rather see appropriate theming added to the ride, rather then making it longer.

Thanks, was pretty interesting. Quite a few references to The Justice League Ride and Movie World in some of the photos.

No I've definitely had audio everytime, though many would be re-rides on the same day that happened to have audio running. Though I still haven't experienced Arkham Asylum with audio yet.
-
No sorry your right, the oath only repeats through the speakers in the actual station not the on-ride audio.
-
The green lantern oath is also recited as you go up the lift hill. Out of the 15+ times I've ridden, I have had audio every time.
-
I did notice that they mentioned it on the new VIP pass add,

If I remember correctly there are videos in the Big Red Car Ride that feature the original wiggles, perhaps these will be re-filmed?

Those lions are back again, they look like the same ones used for the "'Mummy Tomb Live" scare maze, and where used for the Chinese New Year decorations at the Billabomg Resturant.

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013

Agreed seems more likely that the soundstage will be used for the "Wild" attraction -
I believe there was 4 or 5 theatres running at a time with a fairly large group in each

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
rac2703 replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
They should put a movie experince display themed to Batman in the chinatown theatre - display the Batmobiles that they already have and add a couple of replica props/costumes from the movies, It would be good to see movie world return to the movie magic side of things, plus it would bring a bit more life to that area of the park -
I think they should just play the actual movie during the queue or at least the Spooky Coaster scenes so guests can a see a lot the props that in the movie that will appear on the ride, I suspect they can't just play whole movie though due to "public broadcast infringments"
