Sea World - No Entry train crossing
The wooden parts have been raised in the same way, they even had a food/drink cart set up just on the other side, probably as a further deterrent due to staff presence.

Sea World - No Entry train crossing
Just got back from sea world, and they have actually raised the height of the gate by adding two rows of wire on the top.

I wouldn't mind the games so much if they were properly themed and executed well, like Universal Studios in Orlando (pics from Micechat) -

What will be the next attraction to open at the GC parks?
My original point was that our parks could not afford a high thrill wooden coaster (they couldn't afford the money or space for an El Toro like coaster), thus my comments about them building one on or below par with the cyclone. The ongoing maintenance of wooden coasters make them far more expensive to maintain and run in the long term, they need constant lubrication, and regular re-tracking to keep them running - Do you really think Dreamworld would invest in such a ride? simple answer is no.

Don't get me wrong I know woodies can be thrilling, but I am talking about for the budget and space out parks have, I think they are better off sticking to steel personally.

The thing with intamin woodies is that they are "pre-fab" coasters, the wood is precision cut in a factory and assembled on site, this means the coaster is very smooth and ultimately loses it's woodie charm and may as well be made from steel. Most of the public visiting out parks complain about the roughness of some of the coasters, such as the cyclone. So why build a new wooden coaster that would have similar or lower thrill levels than the cyclone yet with the same "roughness" as the aging ride. I say build a new steel coaster that had higher thrills, less of a footprint, for a fraction of the maintenance requirements and costs.

I don't understand everyone's longing for a wooden coaster in our parks

Is the the ride photo system up and running yet?

if river rapids were replaced what would you like to see go in
As far as I was aware the slides were always known as the river rapids, and white water mountain was the collective name for the rapids and terror canyon combined. Just like mammoth mountain is made up of the two mammoth rivers and previously mammoth falls. As well as tr Mach 5 which is made up of the two sidewinders and the jet streams.

I just found this POV video of the Storm Coaster on Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hahc79Z1H2A
- In your opinion, what is the most intense ride on the Gold Coast?

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
If you look back at the concept art on the first post it is definitely themed to the villain Doomsday, and the name of the ride kind of gives it away as well.

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
The tower will be themed to a DC comic character though, Doomsday is one of Supermans greatest villains. The superman escape and doomsday tower could follow the same story line with doomsday creating the earthquake above causing the subway to collapse and thus Superman comes to save the day, a multi-ride storyline

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
They pushed it back to focus their efforts on building the Polar Bear Shores expansion, which was needed in a much shorter time with next to no warning (they didn't know the polar bear was pregnant until a few weeks before it gave birth, and even then it was speculation). Besides I think it worked out well having a new water coaster to open in the hit summer season, instead of the spring holiday season.

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
Thats true, However I find it funny how the "Theme park capital of Australia" campaign is calling the Storm Coaster Australia's best rollercoaster, when no-one has even ridden it yet.

Queensland Government Launches "Theme Park Capital" Campaign
Just browsing the theme park capital website I found it interesting that Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary got the #1 most popular "things to do", Dreamworld only made #7, and Tangalooma Dolphin feeding was #8 (Isn't Moreton Island part of Brisbane not the GC?), the rest of the is as follows, I found the order rather interesting myself - #1 - Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary #2 Movie World #3 Sea World #4 Tamborine Skywalk #5 Infinity Attraction #6 Natural Bridge rainforest Circuit #7 Dreamworld #8 Tangalooma Dolphin Feeding #9 Wet 'n' Wild #10 Go Karting Gold Coast

What fabric are talking about? It looks like they just painted the cloaks on the statues a different colour, it doesn't look like actual fabric cloaks have been added.

Queensland Government Launches "Theme Park Capital" Campaign
I'm not sure, this ad was definitely on tv this afternoon with the end saying "coming soon?" And "stay overnight from $99", which the whole point if the new campaign is to try and promote staying overnight at the coast not just day trips. Maybe this is older footage used to build hype around the new campaign coming later in the month? But it does show footage from all the major parks and other attractions on the coast in the one ad

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
I'm not too thrilled with the idea, and the thought of the two modes reminds me instantly of Pandamonium at Dreamworld - many people see it operating at full speed and don't want to ride it so they don't approach and see it has the less thrilling option. They should focus on a traditional family dark-ride - a new updated version of Looney Tunes River ride. I don't know why everyone wants a wooden coaster built - it simply won't happen the cost and maintenance is too costly and you can get a much more thrilling steel coaster for a fraction of the cost and a much smaller footprint.
- Dreamworld and White Water World or Movie World, Wet n Wild or Seaworld.

Sea World extending Polar Bear Shores
The bear cub is already generating a lot of excitement at sea world, my friend who works there said they have nick named the cub "chaching" because of the amount of money it has already pulled in from sales of polar bear merchandise etc, and the money it will continue to make. It has also given sea world a lot of media attention with all it's major milestones making national headlines (birth, first sounds, first steps etc.).

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
Perhaps this thread should be renamed to do with the storm coaster and split the polar bear shores expansion posts into a separate thread? Because they are both technically sea worlds new attractions for 2013.

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
It is two separate enclosures, the cub will never meet its father as in the wild the males will often kill the cubs.
