I went on it in the early 2000's on my first theme parks visit and it was the first time I had ever been on a ride that had a 'story' to it. I only have fuzzy memories but I still recall how enjoyable I found the whole experience at the time. Wish there were more rides like it.

I agree as well. Along the same lines an area I see Movie World as seriously lacking is in show quality. I've always thought at a park themed on movies there should be a greater range of shows and more of them. Batman and Scooby Doo and parade are ok but a little tired and need some updating as mentioned above. The Wild West show venue is terrible and maybe I'm a prude but I don't enjoy my kids watching all the double entendres and sexual undertones in it. I've always found it tacky. The Looney Tunes show is cheap and nasty and again outdated. Last time we went the hosts on the video section were years past being on tv. The stunt show was a great example of what MW shows should be. Slick and entertaining. In my eyes the Dora show at Seaworld is better than the shows at MW in terms of production values and effort from the park. To me that is the same as if MW had a better marine creatures based show than SW does. Very strange.

Hope this diversion is ok but I'm wondering if anyone can settle an argument between my wife and I about the previous Stunt Show? How did they do the jump at the end across the building? My theory is it was a car shell on some sort of track system but wife thinks it is a model car operating via remote control. Are either of us right?

This is all very interesting. Personally I'd love to see a family ride in there that falls somewhere between Justice League and Road Runner in terms of thrill. Based on my own kids I'd say Looney Tunes are still as relevant as ever. Hopefully something happens soon because having rides closed with no sign of activity for a long period is a terrible look for any park I think. Going back to the Scooby Doo ride my opinion is it is the best ride on the Gold Coast. What lets it down however is being tied to the movie version which is out of date and rapidly becoming unknown. I'd like to see it rejigged slightly, and commission animators to do a Scooby Doo mini episode that would include the roller coaster. Then play it on the queue screens instead of that nauseating behind-the-scenes doco they currently use. That way the ride stays current and the theme fits.

Wiggles World used to (and still may) play a CD called It's a Wiggly, Wiggly World where the Wiggles were joined by guests including Slim Dusty (Changed Love to have a beer with to love to have a dance with) and Tim Finn (Six months in a leaky boat). Very cool CD.

Let's face it the reason theme parks get so many complaints is if you are there at the wrong time they create a lot of frustration. We always go during school terms and generally aim for weeks early in terms when it is very quiet. We are lucky that our jobs enable us to take holidays in those times and our kids manage fine at school so some time off doesn't do any harm. Last time we went though Vic and QLD holidays were out of sink and QLD was on holidays for a few days. The crowds and the queues at Movie World were horrible and waiting over an hour for a 3 minute ride gets anyone frustrated. For a lot of people taking holidays in school holidays is the only option so it is no wonder they throw a few stones at the parks.

I would have said that in the 10 years or so I've been going Sea World would be at the front in terms of what they have done with their park, improvement wise.

Gold Coast for me. Better weather and add to the theme park precinct.

Yep, that is a fair call, as a three the other option is far better. As once or twice a year visitors if we are up for a short time it is the MW,SW,WnW combo that we buy and if it is a longer stay DW/WWW come into it which I guess probably say it all.

Must say I'm not especially sad to see the Dinosaurs go, always found it odd and out of keeping with the theme of the park.

I just watched it and it is hard to know what to make of it. The bit that confused me is why, when Seaworld say they had special protocols for Tilikum, including no in-water work, the footage before the trainer's death shows her lying in the water on a ledge with him.

I agree with Brad and Alex and I guess they were the points I was making. I found with my early primary school aged kids they were happy to go on the dodge ems, Road Runner, Scooby Doo, Wild West Falls and The Justice League ride at MW and were too small or too scared for GL, Superman, Batwing and Arkam. The rest of Looney Tunes doesn't interest them much. They like the shows and parade at MW, Scooby Doo, Batman, Stunt Driver and parade. At DW they can go on the Rapid River, the flume, MDMC, Shockwave, Pandamonium, Reef Diver, Madegascar, Wipeout, Laser Skirmish, Dodge ems and the other couple of Dreamworks rides (laying down one and seated swings) keep them amused as does the ball room. Too scared for the Buzzsaw, Claw TOT and Giant Drop and for some reason we have never been on rollercoaster. They like the Tiger shows, shearing show etc and watch the movies at both parks. There is no doubt in terms of quality MW is ahead, they enjoy Scooby Doo more than any other ride (27 times in one visit on a quiet day!) and in shows but they come away with a much fuller day at DW. As a ticket buyer I'm much happier paying a little less and having them have a massive day where they can pretty much ride all day without queuing on a variety of rides than paying more and having them do less, albeit at a higher quality.

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to draw on the expertise of this forum. Having been a regular visitor to the Gold Coast park over the past decade, my family is planning a major overseas adventure in the next 5 years. My kids by then will then be about 15 and 13. My question is if you were looking to head to the best park or group of parks within same vicinity anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I just expressed similar sentiments on another thread. My family and I always enjoy Dreamworld, we would have it second to Sea World as our favourite GC park. The Dreamworks area looks great and the kids love it, I think the Madegascar ride is great as it gives an option for those too timid for bigger similar rides. Ditto Shockwave. We have also always really enjoyed the laser thing. Haven't been since it changed but I think it is a nice variation on other theme park offerings. We also enjoyed the MDMC, it is a little uncomfortable but so are a lot of rides. I think Dreamworld has a really nice balance of areas, rides and animals, glad I'm not the only one now!

Must admit I did the survey but hadn't realised it was confidential either. Better start reading these things more closely!
