Shifting themes? - Movie World/Sea World
colliric_855 replied to GoGoBoy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just plain tie it to the Green Lantern movie.... It was successful enough. Replace the comic stuff, with a pre-ride based on how it was all presented in the actual film. Perhaps replace the queue art with a display of the relevant scenes from the film, Or just plain have the comic art in the outer queue and add scenes from the film(on video monitors) to the inner queue(near the ride itself). Give it a thicker story near the ride itself. Pick a different ride, one that doesn't directly have a direct franchise it could be tied into. -
They're not gonna cancel something they're already constructing unless they're real idiots. Perhaps they are just down playing it because some people thought it was going to be a marquee attraction, when really it's a small one. I also think they failed to market it properly by not saying from the get go that it's got a Looney Tunes theme, which frankly it obviously DOES(updated for WBkids). Also "Cars".... Which happens to be a Disney property. Don't tell me no kid is going to wonder out loud why it doesn't have Lightening McQueen in it. They're probably just changing the name of it, and going over all the sites and posts in which it was mentioned. "Bugs Driving School"? "Mini-Cabs Driving School"? The VIP page probably doesn't have to be changed(as the Name is also a description of the ride, so they can leave it there). I agree with the other user who said they are preparing their second round of Marketing. It could be for that reason too, as well as, or instead of, altering the name to remove "Cars" from it. The fact they were so through to delete every thing except the VIP ad, simply suggests they are probably RENAMING the ride, and have to go through every page and edit, before REUPLOADING or even just plain reannouncing the ride.

Yeah, most likely as the animals are just too big and agressive. But there are parks that offer Jungle Cruises with real animals overseas(not Crocs or Hippos obviously... But In the states, Aligators and a few other animals). -

I hope it's a jungle cruise with real animals, that would be a unique experience. -

Of cause it's possible. In fact, that would be pretty cool. Look I'm not interested in arguing today... Not every day you weirdly end up being personally involved in an incident that gets reported on 7, 9 and 10 news. My brother called me up seconds after it aired on 7, to see If I was ok. -

No... As the previous user said, it's salt water.... and salt water crocs are the biggest in the world. P.S. If anyone saw Channel 7, Channel 9 and Channel 10 Melbourne News tonight.... Yes, that's my School Crossing they were talking about. I finished up in the morning just as the shit was about to hit the fan! Recieved the ODDEST phone call from an employer I have ever recieved in my life! "Don't turn up to the crossing this afternoon", "Why's that?"(thinking "are they finally firing me?"), "We're worried about you getting shot, there's been an incident".... WEIRDEST DAY OF MY LIFE. -

Could just be sectioned off. Perhaps an introductory cruise section(if it's a cruise), the Croc exhibit, and then a section of the Hippo exhibit? Certainly the Croc section(even if it's anamatronic) is in this part. -

a Salt-water Crocodile Enclosure? Crocs are in the teaser pic, and Salties are the largest... I'd guess this is the Crocodile enclosure and Dino Island will be the Hippo/Gorilla section. Real animals... -

By "Council" I really ment Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, who has friends everywhere. -

It appears they still have one... The indication is that it could be reopened in less than a few months, so I guess they still have it, or are confident the council(who are desperate for something to happen it) will fast-track the proposal. The owner has apparently been directly talking with the Lord Mayor Robert Doyle. I agree the thread should move on now. -
Fine...
-
I know that(wasn't a serious suggestion, just a "what I'd do to that thing If I ever had the chance" thing)... but we CAN dream one day of it being GONE!
-
I'd plan for it's medium term removal. By late 2015 it would be just gone. Nearly 10 years of it is enough. Put it on the market soon, see what price it'll fetch, and negotiate it's sale in 2014, for a 2015 removal. I figure it'll take a while to find a local buyer(and keep it here). Ride didn't cost them too much originally anyway, problem is finding someone who would actually want it, and that has the cash to make the loss negligible.

LOL! But seriously now, it's painfully obvious to them now, closing the Savoy was a mistake(or a lost opportunity). Two new pubs(hotels by name, pubs by nature) have since moved in across the road and a few doors down, and both are doing good business. Perhaps it IS too late for it to reopen, given it's got strong competition now. -

Doubt that. Across the road is the newly opened(I think it was 2010) Mail Exchange Hotel and it's doing gangbusters across the road from the Savoy. The area is fast becoming a hotspot. Reopening it actually is probably a very good idea, and maybe it might enter competition with the the Exchange which has pretty much taken all the old Savoy business. People who say this is a "Bad idea" obviously haven't been to the Exchange and seen it's practically a "Savoy in-spirit" just across the road from the original. One thing's for sure, it won't be turned into an office building or anything like that. Heritage listed buildings nearbye. That's probably why Doyle originally pushed for a park, apart from reopening the current building or a small shopping area, that's likely the only other proposal that has any chance of avoiding shadowing issues with anyof the heritage listed neighbours. Including my Church for instance. I honestly believe the reopening of the Savoy is probably because of the spiffy new pub across the road taking all of it's old business and showing that it was stupid to close the Savoy in the first place. I see it every Sunday, the MEH is pretty much the "new Savoy", opposite the old one. Royal Melbourne Hotel is on the opposite side of my Church, and that's a great nightclub/pub also(Busy also). So you have two similar businesses in the same location doing well. Savoy reopening for a younger crowd is a smart move(unless three in one spot turns out to be too many, but we won't know until it happens). If they reopen, here is what they're now up against: http://www.mailexchangehotel.com.au/ and the smaller http://www.rmh.com.au/ -

Sure it's not alone, but it's also internally politically infamous in this regard, within the city itself. For instance, there was no reason the Savoy Tavern had to sit like that for years and years. The Owners just were not forced(by Council pressure) to do something with it until now(it's actually going to be renovated and reopen still as a Bar and also now a shopping complex). But yeah other cities do have issues like this too. I won't argue with you about the other statements, as obviously there's arguements both ways, and continuing would be a waste of time. -
If they can somehow just plain sell the mistake called the Motocoaster, a Woodie would be great in that spot too(if one can fit there, i'm not 100% certain of the space out there).... Does Mick Doohan have somesort of licensing agreement the ride must stay at Dreamworld for a certain time? or can they just sell it off whenever they wish to? As bad as the ride is, if one of our smaller parks, with the space, had the cash to pick it up off 'em, I would be happy. If it was a local one, I'd be most happy. It's just doesn't fit Dreamworld is all.
